Rated 1 de 5 de par Buyer beware Bought five of these for my shop. Three are scratched on the reflector and one is missing an end cap out of the box. Just finished installing the first one. The frame is so weak I had to repair the damage taking out the knockout caused. I bought these because the reviews I read said they were much better quality than others sold at Home Depot.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great light for the price Bought this light to replace a burned out fixture my in garage. The installation was simple and went as described in the instructions. Be sure to have a die and mallet to punch out any AC supply holes. There are pleny of holes in the frame to mount in the cieling. Operates wonderfully and comes on instantly with zero "blinking". Good buy.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good Garage or Shop Lights I put these lights up in my garage, I already had them up in my shop. They produce a lot of light, they don't flicker when they come on, and they are pretty cheap to run. They are not pretty, very utilitarian. They were easy to put up and wire. The sheet metal housings are sharp on the edge and I did get cut; so, be careful.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Excellent Garage Light for Cost and Performance Through exhaustive research, I found these lights at Home Depot. The market seems to be currently pushing T5 fluorescent lights but the T8s (this light) have withstood the test of time in parking garages, factories and are still widely used today. I found the move to T5s kind of ironic considering T12s, T8s, and T5s, were all developed in the 40's and 50's... weird. The cost per light with 2 bulbs was roughly $50/each. Since my needs were 7-10 lights to fully light my garage, this was much more cost effective and easier to install than a 4-light whether they were T5s or T8s. I do recommend 4-bulb lights if you have a large clear and open space to light and desire to minimize the number of lights. The down shields also do really well to redirect light downward where you need it. It also added a bit of an industrial look which was what I was going for. I ended up running external conduit to some lights since ceiling outlets were no located in those areas, I didn't want to cut into drywall, and again; I was going for a bit of an industrial look. Ended up turning out great and there are pop out 1/2" plugs at each end of the lights for this option. Lastly, I wish there were more bracket options or predrilled holes in the lights for flat ceiling surface mounting (approximately 9' ceilings). It took a few tries with the first lights to figure out what would work best for me but I figured it out.

Over the past five years I have been very pleased with this light (I have three of them in my basement shop) until suddenly one of them stopped working. Checked the bulbs as well as power at both ends of the fixture and everything was good so the only other thing it could have been was the ballast. I purchased a replacement from Home Depot (AmbiStar 120-Volt 2-Lamp T8 Instant Start Residential Electronic Fluorescent Replacement Ballast - Model # 505032 - Internet #205714359 - Store SO SKU #126532) for less than $15. Worked like a charm after the easy installation.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Light Duty but serviceable. This is a light duty light but once installed will provide good service. I bought two units, months apart. The first was fine. The second produced a large amount of radio interference. It blasts the low end of the FM band. I am guessing that the electronic ballast is at fault.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for the Home Workshop Lights come on right away when cool-No hum. Reflectors aid visibility. They had to be mail ordered because the store had only a few on hand. The bulbs had good sockets on both ends-they made good contacts without twisting them around constantly like with the cheap fixtures.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Noisy Installed 16 of these in my garage Turned them on and my radio started buzzing. They have industrial ballast in them so they are not filtered. Im very disappointed

Can these be used in a damp location like a garage?

Posée par: stormynorm
If your walls and ceiling are dry it should be ok. However, be careful to make sure the electrical circuit is off before installing. Also, the fixtures should not be within touching range when standing on the damp concrete.

My ceiling flourescent light doesn't come on. What are possible problems with it?

Posée par: Danny
You either wired it wrong or put the light bulbs in wrong. Of course, it could be a defective ballast but that would be unusal.

Does this light have a pull chain? Or use wall switch? I am trying to light a room that is 9 feet by 15 feet. Would two of these fixtures supply sufficient light? Thank you!
Posée par: Studio
The light does not have a chain or switch. You will need to wire it into a wall switch. Two fixtures might be enough light for some purposes such as a store room. My workshop is only a little larger than you mentioned and I used 5 fixtures.

I looking for 277volt, it's available in Home Depot?

Same lights I need 7 lights but I need 277v
Posée par: OMAR
It appears the electronic ballast of this florescent fixture was designed to operate between 120 and 277 volts. I however only operate mine on 120 volt electric power and cannot confirm its operation at 277 volts.

What are the two clips/brackets for that look like they press fit on somewhere?

They have a dutch bend on one end and are slightly curved with a hole in the other end.
Posée par: IN2DNITE
Yes, the bulb mounts (4) clip into place and the end cap holds them in position by clipping over their ends

It says magnetic ballast. It doesn't have an electronic ballast?

Posée par: stormynorm
Old style ballast, so not electronic.

what is the operating temperature

Posée par: david
I do not know as you can mount different bulbs such as plant bulbs, ordinary lighting bulbs, and higher intensity bulbs and each operate at different temps.
