Rated 4 de 5 de par Good 8ft T12 strip light! The original ballast worked good, for being a cheapo china electronic ballast BUT it ruins all FM radio reception in the shop, so i replaced the original with a spare magnetic ballast (something that should have never been banned ) I had. The quality of the fixture was good, not great like the older stuff.

Mounting was a bit challenging, as the fixture does not have properly spaced holes or mounting spaces to drive screws into regularly spaced beams/joists. As a result, I was forced to punch holes with screws through the fixture. The ballast was also obtrusive to the mounting process. The unit is a bit flimsy and the fixtures that hold the bulbs at each end have inconsistent spacing. I was forced to bend the unit slightly to convince myself the bulbs would not accidentally pop out if the unit was jarred. I guess I expected a bit more quality at the current price point. The unit will work as intended after tweaking, so I have no complaints about that.

I was replacing a 15-20 year old 8ft light fixture, now i understand things are not built like yrs past, but the metal is very thin you can bend it with your fingers not like the old one. butt really stood out to me the parts did not align up right you had to force them in and it came bent in the closed box very fragile the price was accapetable I guess you get what you pay for in the future I will pay a litte more and get a better quality light fixture.

Fairly easy to set up and install however only one out of two worked. Exchanged for another one and it did not work either. I tested for power each non working light and power was there. Finally returned both lights even the working one and went with LED fixtures that are much more of a pain to install but at least they work. A huge waist of time dealing with all of this.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Cheaply made The first one I bought had to be returned. The end was crumpled. I mean really crumpled and folded onto itself. Thanks for your excellent QC Home Depot! Got the second one with high hopes. Hopes soon dashed on the rocks. Parts were bent but the sheet metal used is so thin it was not too difficult to put back into shape. Shame to replace the old heavy duty American Made units with this piece of junk but the old unit used bulbs no longer available.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Bad Design Yes, it works but the stubby connectors that hold the bulbs in place are too short. The bulbs actually rest against the inner liner of the fixture when they are inserted. If Lithonia (the manufacturer) had taken more care they would have made the bulb holders an 1/8" - 1/4" longer for easier bulb insertion. The idea of a tandem light fixture is a great idea but the obvious lack of design thought puts a damper on this fixture.

Is this fixture a cold start ballast?

We need atleast a 0* start ballast fixture that accommodates high output bulbs
Posée par: Disappointed1
The description says this fixture is rated for 25 degree celcius ambient temperature or 77 degrees fahrenheit . I have three of these fixtures mounted and they are 10 years old. I have turned them on many times when the temperature was in the 30 degree F. range and had no problems except the bulbs are significantly dimmer until they warm up. I have also had them on when the temps were 107 degrees F. I still have the same bulbs from 10 years ago and they never give me any problems although it is an enclosed shed and I do not use the lights very much. I do not know why the fixtures are rated at only 77 degrees F. I actually never even thought about operating temperatures when I purchased these. As for high output bulbs there is nothing in the description other than to use 2 75 watt T96 flourescent bulbs. It says that is equivalent seven 100 watt incandescent bulbs. Home Depot does list other fixtures that do say high output.

Is this fixture rated for HO bulbs?

Is this fixture rated for HO bulbs?
Posée par: Chuck
No. You can install a different ballast made for high output. I suppose the high output bulbs would come on but not perform like they should. They may make the ballast run hot also.

Any problem using 60W lights????

Any problem using 60W lights????
Posée par: Rascar
The fixture call for 75 watt bulbs. You can put the 60 watt bulbs in and give it a try but it will most likely shorten the bulb life. The ballast will most likely run hotter than it should. Keep in mind the fixture shown uses flourescent bulbs that have only one big terminal on each end. If your 60 watt bulbs have are the usual type that have two little terminals on each end they will not even mount. I do not like the little ones because when they get old they tend to arc and burn up the socket leaving the fixture useless.

Can this light be installed in a cold area, basically what is the ballast temperature,0 degrees

Can this light be installed in a cold area, basically what is the ballast temperature,0 degrees
Posée par: Pigfarmer
Yes. The problem is they have to warm up for quite a while. They flourescents will be dim until they warm up. I know the colder it is the dimmer they are. The internet says they will perform poorly starting at 50 degrees F. You will have to install a special ballast for 0 degrees and also may have to install something called a bulb jacket. It is 45 degrees out and I just turned my light on and one of the bulbs is pretty dim but after about 15 minutes it seems good.

Do they make light covers that fit this particular model?

Do they make light covers that fit this particular model?
Posée par: alex
No. You would have to modify the fixture or buy a fixture that comes with a cover or rear reflector to suit your needs. If your handy you can make your own cover. Flourescents run pretty cool so heat build up usually is not an issue.

I need to replace the bulb of what I have. On the old one, it says F96T12/CW/EW 60 Watt. Does the above same of what I need, as in the description, it doesn't say those number. If the above doesn't work, let me know which one does. Thanks
Posée par: Nick
The above fixture requires two 75 watt / 96 inch / T-12 . I am not sure if you should put 60 watt bulbs in there. The ballast is designed for two 75 watt bulbs. Note that when you buy your bulbs they come in different colors. The CW on the bulb you show stands for Cool white. You can get these bulbs in cool white, soft white, daylight deluxe, plant light etc. For instance: If you install a cool white bulb along side a soft white bulb, the cool white will appear to be a sort of blue color compared to the soft white which will appear to be a pinkish color. I use daylight deluxe because they are said to have more colors of the light spectrum and are more like natural daylight. Plant bulbs are nice too but expensive as I recall. Basically use soft white bulbs if you do not want really bright light.
