Rated 1 de 5 de par Enough is enough We've renovated two houses over the past several years. Wherever we needed basic fluorescent utility lighting (garages, basements) we've ended up trying Lithonia, because that's what they sell at Home Depot. Having bought about a dozen Lithonia fixtures over the years, I'd say about 50% come out of the box missing parts - screws, wire nuts, other things - and about 80% are just really badly made - knockouts don't actually knock out, wires just break off, or the fixture just comes apart in my hands. Literally. Cheap can be useful or useless. Lithonia is more often than not useless. Save yourself time and frustration - don't use these.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Inspite of Quality issues I love these Lamps I purchased over 40 of these units for my company to relamp our assembly and office / lab spaces. The old 4 and 8ft T12 type fixtures were due to be replaced and these T5 types were easily integrated in their place... WOW by light meter measurement we have more than twice the illumination and the cost to operate is at least 2/3 less based on the power bill for the three suites. I do have to say that this is all great but not without cost or effort, out of the 40+ units purchased, 2 died within a day or were DOA out of the box due to bad ballasts, 6 died within a week due to bad ballasts and over the last 6 months another 6 have failed, Currently we have another 6 to be replaced.... not sure why but as long as they honor the warranty the power savings and high illumination factor make up for it to some degree.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Very compact, inexpensive, and they put out a lot of light I installed two of these in my garage about 18 months ago, one in my attic about 6 months ago, and two in my friend's garage recently. They're inexpensive and you can tell the ballasts are not real beefy, but for their price point they look good and put out quite a bit of light. All have held up well so far. I haven't had to change the bulbs yet, but you have to be careful because they sell T5 replacement bulbs in the store that will fit but that exceed the wattage rating for these fixtures. Note also that the boxes they come in are not sealed, so when you're in the store I recommend examining them for damage or missing parts (as you should when buying anything.)

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very nice utility light fixture The light fixture is just what it is made out to be a utility light fixture. Not pretty, but functional. In our case we installed two for kitchen lighting and they are hidden under a plastic diffuser panel. The installation was pretty easy. The only negative for these light fixtures was, one of the knockout covers for threading the power into the body would not come off. And as such my power line would not reach to connect with the wires inside the fixture body. As I was putting two fixtures up, I was able to swap the location of the fixtures (the second fixture’s knockout worked fine) and install the lights that way. The lights are working great and saving me money.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Four of five units failed within 4 years I purchased five of these units for kitchen ceiling lighting in July 2008. The light output was very good but within six months I had to replace one unit because of failed ballast. Now about four years later, I have had to replace four of the original five units due to failed ballast. It's a poor product and I definitely do not recomment it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Lithonia mini strip 2 lamp (T5 Fluorescent) ***** I purchased this lamp because I needed a lot of light with a low power draw. I generate my own electricity using solar panels, batteries and an inverter, and a gasoline generator. While this is considered a utility light, I mounted it to the ceiling over my sofa, with the bulbs directly overhead and not normally in my range of vision. I added a lamp cord, strain relief, and a cord-switch, which took about 10 minutes time. The entire fixture with bulbs is very compact, not much larger than a single, old fashioned T12 bulb, or so it seems. The bulbs are spaced slightly wider than the housing, so they throw light onto the ceiling or wall behind the fixture-there is very good horizontal distribution of the light. The fixture comes with two 3000K T5 bulbs, which is a very warm and pleasant pinkish yellow color, and more comfortable for general lighting than cool white. This bulb technology is considered energy efficient, but the bulbs operate quite warm to the touch; though not a hazard for burns, you don't want anything like plants or curtains to remain in contact for long. I like this product very much- so I purchased a second fixture to use as a pseudo-SAD lamp, and mounted it to the wall in front of my desk at work, which looks modern/industrial. This provides more pleasant light than the overhead lights alone, and plants seem to respond well too. I may try mixing in a wider spectrum bulb in the future.

Rated 2 de 5 de par You get what you pay for Overall, the lights are functional and affordable. But I have 2 complaints: (1.) Inadequate packaging which resulted in broken bulbs ($8 each). I ordered 3 fixtures and they were shipped in the manufacturer packaging. (2.) The plastic bulb sockets were improperly installed at the factory which caused improper bulb fitment. Once I figured out the problem, it was easy to pop them off and fix them. It would've been better if Home Depot would've consolidated them and integrated more cushion

Rated 5 de 5 de par Bright lighting in a slim package. This is the second Lithonia mini strip light I've bought. The 1st was their 2 ft equivalent, this a 4 ft equivalent. They put out a lot of light for their reduced wattage, amazingly so. The light has a pink, orange cast with the included bulbs but really brightens any area while saving on utility bill. The slim package is a little difficult to connect BX cable to, it takes some forethought, like connecting the cable clamps before hanging the unit.

Does this have the option of having cool light instead of soft light Above fixture with cool light was not available in home depot store in milpitas If it exists in any other store, please let me know
Posée par: Suresh
In terms of the bulb being included in it being cool white, it isn't available instock at our stores at this time. Although I realize you are wasting the soft white bulb you purchased when you bought the fixture, we do sell 46 inch. cool white T5 bulbs at your local store. Below is the link to view it: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-4-ft-T5-28-Watt-Cool-White-4100K-Linear-Fluorescent-ALTO-Light-Bulb-409631/202504387 This is the only option I can recommend for having it in the store. However, you may be able to special order a fixture without bulbs or with the cool white color in a T5 fixture like what you have now. Joseph

Does it have a built in ballast (or equivalent electronics) and all I have to do is hard-wire a cord to plug it in? Or is a separate ballast necessary?
Posée par: EashAim
I installed 7 four-foot lights on garage ceiling August 2017. They do have one ballast in each fixture. Fixture has key holes for mounting with round head screws you provide. You do have to hard wire with 3 wirenuts (included).

can u used led bulbs in this lite

can u used led bulbs in this lite
Posée par: Hillbilly
yes most led T5 bulbs are designed to replace f28 bulbs like those used in this fixture. some require the ballast to be removed and power to be run directly to the bulb. others use the ballast to limit current to the LEDs so be sure to read and follow the instructions that come with the bulb you buy
