Rated 5 de 5 de par Makita, what else can I say... I researched all the major brands prior my purchase. Several good competitors left me a tough choice. However, the option of the adjustable/removable handle was my deciding factor. It paid off because I use the handle frequently when control is a must when operating the sander at an odd angle or upside down. I catch myself laughing at the ease, speed, and comfort using this tool. Can't believe I hand sanded all these years...

Rated 5 de 5 de par Wish I had bought this one sooner I purchased this sander to replace my 5" Bosch random Orbit sander, which had given me nothing but problems. (Which was strange because I have a Bosch router that I want to be buried with) Anyway, this sander is quiet, aggressive and has great dust collection. If you need a random orbit sander, you wont be disappointed with this one.

Rated 5 de 5 de par A positive replacement This sander replaced a Porter Cable sander that was never as good as this one. In fact I merely tolerated it for several years even though it was a poor performer. I really didn't want to spend the money, but when it stopped working I had no choice. I haven't used the Makita too much yet, but when I have it's easy to tell that it's a quality product. While it is relatively light weight and easy to use (with the adjustable handle) it really gets the job done. Hopefully it will continue for years to come

Rated 5 de 5 de par Another great Makita tool. Awesome Sander I bought this Makita sander after looking at pretty much every sander on the market and it works great. Very little vibration and it has adjustable speed for any size project. I would definitely recommend this Makita Sander to anyone thats in the market for a good quality tool backed by a great name.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Makita 5in orbital sander I have only had it for a few weeks but so far it has performed flawlessly. It's comfortable, powerful, and the dust bag works fairly well. I have stripped and refinished one dresser and am working on remodeling one of the bedrooms in my home. It took awhile to get to Home Depot, however once there, I was able to pick it up very quickly.

I am a female who is inexperienced with power tools, in fact I have always found them to be a bit intimidating; however, I got sick of seeing paint drips and years of badly-applied paint on the woodwork in my 90 year-old house, so I decided to take the plunge. I did a great deal of research into types of sanders, brands, uses, and sandpaper. I arrived on the Makita, mainly for reputation as a brand and good reviews. I purchased several grits of sandpaper and went to work. MAN what a difference a sander makes! I will never sand by hand again. The 80 grit combined with the setting of "5" on the sander has made my doors and baseboards as smooth as a baby's behind. I had no idea what I was missing. There's nothing like having the right tool for the job. A word of caution about the dustbag: you must attach it correctly, or expect a good bit of what you are sanding to end up all over the room. Not the end of the world, certainly, but just be careful and save on clean up time. Keep the sander moving, clean out the bag often, and check your sandpaper to make sure you haven't worn it out and you are good to go.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Had an older Makita model that lasted for years. They last almost forever and work so well. Makita makes a great sander. The front hand grip is a must for any type of finish sanding as one can control the sander very easily. Would never use any other brand as this Makita gets an A++ rating.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Nice quality Sander. I have been using The 3-AMP 5 IN. RANDOM ORBIT SANDER WITH VARIABLE SPEED (TOOL-CASE) extensively since it arrived and I have enjoyed using it as it works very well. Easy on the comfort and it fits my large hands nicely. I would certainly buy again. It is costly and I will give the "value" a higher rating if it lasts me for several years, which is why I paid a higher premium price.

My orbital sander does not spin at lower speeds, it just vibrates. Is this normal? I thought it was supposed to do both regardless of the speed setting.

How long can you use the sander before the vibration becomes annoying/painful?

Posée par: Greg
Hello, please see vibration specs from the manual; much less than a belt or 1/2 sheet sander. Try the sander, & if it does not meet your requirements, please have it returned for a refund. Vibration: The vibration total value (tri-axial vector sum) determined according to EN60745: Work mode : sanding metal plate Vibration emission (ah) : 3.5 m/s2 Uncertainty (K) : 1.5 m/s2 ENG901-1 • The declared vibration emission value has been measured in accordance with the standard test method and may be used for comparing one tool with another. • The declared vibration emission value may also be used in a preliminary assessment of exposure. WARNING: • The vibration emission during actual use of the power tool can differ from the declared emission value depending on the ways in which the tool is used.

Does it come with the hook and loop backing pad? I'd like to use with the hook and loop kind of sandpaper and I see the backing pad as a accessory you can purchase so I'm wondering if it does not come with one. What do I need to purchase to start using this? I assume just sandpaper and the tool but want to make sure to purchase the backing pad if it doesn't come with one. How long do the backing pads last? do they need to be replaced every so often? Can you use this with higher grit (150-220) sandpaper to finish jobs, or is it mainly intended for material removal rather than fine finishing projects?
Posée par: Dan
Yes it does.
