Rated 1 de 5 de par Not recommended Unlike other posts I've seen, this one has to be put together manually with screws, as opposed to simply sliding the pieces in place. It was fairly easy to do but it doesn't line up straight and doesn't look quite right. It is also extremely difficult to install the mailbox itself to this post. The post is not very durable. It has noticable grass and dirt stains/scrapes on it just from laying it in the grass as I was working on installing it. I suggest looking elsewhere for your mailbox needs.

Only drawback is the horizontal bar isn't that sturdy and the mailbox has a small lateral shake to it when you close the door, about a half inch of deflection in each direction.

Once the wood 4x4 post was in place, installation of this mail post was simple and went mostly as easy as expected. I made two changes to improve the installation. 1. There is a circular opening on the bottom that fits the 4x4 post well yet the upper section of the mail post does not. As a result, there is no way to install the mail post (as provided) plumb on a 4x4 post that is plumb. The 4x4 post is held in the center of the mail post at the bottom, but then must 'lean' to make contact when the support arm is attached. I cut the opening on the bottom larger so that two sides (one corner) of the square section could make contact with the entire 4x4 post. 2. The lag screws that hold the support arm (visible in the picture) to the post are too close together, resulting in the arm moving quite a bit when using the mailbox. I located the lower lag screw on the mounting block but under the arm, which resulted in a much less wobble of the arm. While no longer completely hidden, the screw in this new location is barely visible and still mostly protected from the weather.

But the plastic construction leaves the mailbox arm wobbly. the mailbox isn't going anywhere, but it's not sturdy at all. Additionally, if you want to put house numbers on the post, good luck finding a set narrow enough. The design of the post leaves little room for numbers. We'll see if it lasts.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Post was not as tight a fit over the existing... Post was not as tight a fit over the existing mailbox post. However that was overcome by using several EXTRA long screws to secure Mayne post to the old post it was placed over. Because the entire assembly is a heavy-duty plastic, it does "wobble" slightly when mail is put in or taken out, but it has not yet affected functionality at all. The appearance is OUTSTANDING.

Posée par: 3msmom
The decorative sleeves for our mail posts are all molded as one piece and slide directly over a standard pressure treated 4x4 post. The mailbox support arm is a separate part that then screws through the sleeve and into the 4x4. Full installation instructions can be found under the "Product Overview > Info and Guides" section of this product listing by clicking on "Instructions / Assembly".

What do I need to purchase to secure the mail post into the ground (wooden 4x4 post? How tall?). We plan to use cement.
Posée par: Jon
When setting your 4x4 post into cement in the ground we recommend purchasing a 6' post. This length allows for 2' to be set below ground in the concrete and have 4' exposed above ground to mount the decorative sleeve over. Full installation instructions can be found under the "Product Overview > Info and Guides" section of this product listing by clicking on "Instructions / Assembly".

Please tell me how the base stands up to being hit by the weedeater. I'm debating if I need a metal post because of this issue.
Posée par: Neece
While the material our posts are made from is very durable and not prone to scratching, excessive impacts from a weed eater could cause damage over time. In general however we have not had feedback stating that weed whackers have caused significant damage to our posts. Should a scratch or gouge occur however, the colorant throughout the material means that the damage would not be very visible as any material exposed will still be the same color as the rest of the product.

I have an existing 4"x4" in place that only extends about 2 feet above grade. Is that long enough for this post?

Posée par: Curious
When installing our mail posts you must ensure that you have a minimum of 48" of the 4x4 exposed above the ground. This height is required so that when you attach the lag bolts at the top of the arm that you are sure to be making good contact with the 4x4 on the inside of the decorative sleeve. Full installation instructions for this product can be found under the "Info & Guides" section of this product listing by clicking on the "Instructions/Assembly".

how do I install a standard mailbox on to the platform? There is a ledge that prevent the mailbox from being level.
Posée par: Bayli
Hi Bayli. In order to mount a mailbox to our mailbox support arm you will need to either use a universal mailbox mounting bracket or mounting board (sold separately). Please see "Step 5" of our installation instructions that can be found under the "Product Overview > Info and Guides" section of this product listing by clicking on "Instructions / Assembly".
