Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent product in need of better manual Product functions very well, however the manual needs to be addressed. The manual mentions bungees cords. What bungee cords? none in the box. The manual does not explain how the enclosed adapters actually attach to the hose. I figured it out by trial and error. Very poor description of how the gray plastic bag and fleece bag are to be inserted and overlapped. Additionally, where in the manual does it mention the normal popping sound which vibrates the HEPA filter? I thought I received a defective machine. There does exist an accessory kit, 49-90-1962. That should be in the manual as an accessory or included. All these descriptive shortcomings in the manual need a video or at least actual photos depicting the function. For a 1st class product that costs this much what you get is a manual that does not reflect the reputation of quality that Milwaukee tools represent.

We purchased the Milwaukee 8960-20 for general shop and home vacuuming purposes and also to have an OSHA-acceptable vacuum for stone and masonry drilling. Once you understand the silica dust hazard, you want to get a HEPA vacuum cleaner like this designed for masonry work. We cannot add much to the available online reviews for the 8960-20. In our shop, the 8960-20 replaces an older quiet Fein Turbo II. On the 8960-20, you can adjust the air flow and the resulting noise. The loudness of the Milwaukee is about the same as that of the Fein Turbo II for the same air flow. You can make the Milwaukee very quiet by turning down the air flow or you can turn up the air flow to get plenty of suction (with more noise). The 8960-20 has a standard 2 1/4" friction-fit socket for the hose. This allows you to use the vacuum with other hoses and cleaning tools. After reading and viewing the online reviews and reading the Milwaukee documentation, we were very surprised by the loud thumping noise made by the 8960-20 about every 15 seconds when the automatic filter cleaning function is on. We saw no mention of this loud noise in any review or in the Milwaukee documentation. We contacted Milwaukee and they said that the noise is normal. You can avoid this noise by running the vacuum with the automatic filter cleaning function turned off. You can then perform a cleaning function periodically by running the vacuum with the cleaning function turned on for a few cycles. We imagine that for many purposes this vacuum will be used with the automatic filter cleaning function turned off to avoid the loud noise.

I love how portable it is. I basically just move it around the shop depending on what tool I am using. The adaptor connector is good for connecting to different diameter sizes. The wheels allow for smooth rolling across the garage floor. This device is great for the average hobbyist or professional. Especially great for those who have underlying breathing disorders who need strict dust control. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I needed a dust extractor to help comply with the new OSHA silica regulations and this was exactly what I needed. This dust extractor attaches to a variety of attachments that attach to drills, rotary hammers, grinders, saws, and other tools to suck up dirt and debris before it become airborne and harmful, and of course one big giant mess. It can also be used by itself like a regular shop vac. It can also be used wet however I have not tried it that way so far. It moves around easily on lockable wheels and the antistatic hose is very flexible and should not kink easily. A very professional tool, lots of customizable settings and attachments, and several layers of bags that provide capture of 99.97% of all particles greater than 0.3 microns. That's impressive. I'm a DIY'er and woodworker with bronchial problems, I wear a dust mask but it’s inconvenient and uncomfortable my hope is that with the Milwaukee I can use a simpler mask. This is a well built machine and is nicely finished. The hose is long, highly visible and fits most of my equipment without adaptors. Access to all the controls and filters is easy. The cord is very long making it easy to move around the shop. The wheels make moving it around the shop real simple but I have a cart with a dust separator that it will eventually be mounted on. First project I used it on was to surface my bench, starting with a belt sander and finishing with the ROS. Dust in the pleated filter amounted to virtually none, no way of knowing how much there is in the bag but there was almost none left on the bench. Kind of tells me that it was "in the bag". As I had done this before I know the filter in my old vac would have been packed full. Another plus is how quiet this is at 4 feet 72 dB my old vac at 4 feet is 89 dB. Those readings are with the units running with nothing connected. Next was connecting to the small router table then the 6 inch jointer and finally the 13 inch planer. Using some red oak for the tests it gobbled up everything but some chips from the planer. Old vac missed some on that machine also. I'm already sure that this is a very nice addition to my shop [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

It has plenty of suction. The hose is very flexible, and the attachments will let you connect to most portable power tools. The cord is long enough that you are not going to need an extension cord. As a bonus, the hose connection is a standard 2-1/2" dust collector fitting, so you can use the hose with your shop dust collection system. If you have your power tool plugged into the built-in outlet, you have the option of having the unit start automatically when you start the tool. You can also control it manually. You can coil the hose on the built-in brackets, though it takes some playing around to get it right. The first couple of times I had too much left on one end. There isn't really a good place to coil the cord. The unit is not light. It is also a bit awkward taking it through doorways. But the performance makes it worth it. Replacement bags are hard to find, and are not cheep. Hopefully this will change as more units are put into service. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The auto-clean is quieter than other brands, which Is huge in the tight spaces. The casters and hose are also very heavy duty, overall I’m very impressed by this new HEPA Vac.
