Rated 5 de 5 de par Approved For Farm Use I used this saw to repair an implement on my farm. I needed to cut 2.25" solid bar (not tubing) in to several pieces. With the 14 TPI blade I was able to cut the bar 3 times before I needed to change blades. So in essence, this saw will cut through almost 7 inches of steel before you will need to change the blade. If I would have bought the 6 TPI blade as I wanted, I probably would have been able to cut all 8 pieces. The only thing negative I will say about this saw is that it is difficult to make a perfectly straight cut. Imagine a hacksaw with an electric motor on it. Other than that it did exactly what I needed it to do. Just go slow and let the saw do the work.

Rated 5 de 5 de par What took me so long... Why I never got a portable bandsaw before now - I don't know. No matter what I throw at it in the metal shop, it cuts through easily, and cleanly. 1.5" stainless round bar, steel angle, tubing, plywood, etc., etc. The variable speed trigger switch and speed range dial were a huge selling point and glad I got a saw that has the feature. It does have a clutch-controlled soft start that takes some getting used to, but because of it you can easily start your cut with the blade on the material. The LED cutting light is a nice feature. Be advised, the kit with the case does NOT come with a blade, glad I had read that before though. Also, I bought the beautifully made SWAG Offroad vertical table for it and what a great addition.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Saw I have been doing metal work for years and using Chop saw, cutting torches, and cut off wheels to cut things, and now I kick myself for not purchasing this saw years ago. I done several large projects and no once powered up the chop saw, this deep cut saw took care of almost everything. Cuts fast and clean. The variable speed adjustment near the thumb is nice for quick changes in cutting speed. Blade changes are simple, and the cut depth works for most common metal stock, anything bigger is going to need a torch anyway. The only draw back is the weight, however to get the power and speed I can understand the need for the weight.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very Happy With The Choice I Made I bought this saw to replace another Brand saw I lost in a fire. I use the saw to work on my utility trailer, cut pipe and scrap iron for many welding projects I come up with around my propery, cut exaust pipe for vehicles and equipment. This saw is much more durable then my previous. The slender motor makes veiwing cuts much better and the LED light is great when cutting in shadowed areas. Also I love the balance feel Awkward positions. It has the power to cut stock large or small. If anything happened to this saw I would definatley replace it with the same one!

Rated 4 de 5 de par Gets the job done Bought this saw as a recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed. Ordered online and it arrived quickly. I use it as a table mount primarily with a stand from Swag Off road. The cuts are perfect and the saw never waivers. Out site of the table it becomes very maneuverable and the 5" cut depth come in handy. Blades are easy to change with the quick release/tensioner. The work-light switch is odd, and light doesn't seem to illuminate the work peace much. Don't see that being useful. All in all GREAT buy.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great Saw Minor/Major Problems I have two of these saws bought by the company I work for. The choice of saw was mine to make, however we probably own 10-15 of them. The stamped metal backstop on all of the others is not accurate if you let the backstop try to square your material. This saw is pretty good at this. My only complaint is that the first saw after about 6 months of use the backstop fell off. The screws holding it stripped out of the Aluminum housing. I bought another saw to replace it while the first was being repaired, its backstop has been loose from the beginning. I am scared to attempt to tighten it for fear of stripping the screws. The repair required the hole to be redrilled, tapped to a larger size, then used lock tight to keep them in place. After this repair I have used the saw for close to two years with no problems.

So...get one of the good blades 10 14 teeth. Slow it down for steel. Slowest you got. Let it chug through. Once you brace stock against the lower guard just let it do its thing. Anything else get a good blade. Very easy to use. I like the light right where im sawing. Lets me track guidelines accurately. The quickchange blade arm lever makes it very easy to swap. Always always always use gloves when changing blades. Way cleaner cuts than an abrasive chop saw and no sparky fire risk streams of death flying around.

Rated 2 de 5 de par The cluch unit is not a very good idea, The design of the clutch is lacking. The 6230 is a much more reliable saw for field work for the long haul. I currently have about 40 porta bands in inventory and will not purchase another with a clutch. If that means going to another brand ,so be it.

Can the trigger to this band saw be set to locked on?

Since there is a portable band saw table offered, it only makes sense to have a lock on switch.

This tool cannot be locked in the ON position. The lock button is only used to lock the trigger in the OFF position.

Yes, Milwaukee makes a stand that converts it to a vertical saw with a cable clamp that is great for pipe. You can even use standard pipe for legs.
