Rated 5 de 5 de par Great tool for easy installations!! This tool makes door lock installation too easy!! I am not a pro at hanging and installing doors, but with enough time I can get it done. This made the door lock installation part super quick and easy. I’ve been using this for several years and am still using the same kit I bought several years ago!!

This should get more stars, as most of it works wonderfully, except for a big flaw. It lines up and cuts through solid wood for the doorknob pretty good, but when it comes time to change it out to drill the latch hole, it is almost impossible to unscrew the doorknob drill. I've tried spraying the screw area putting it together with WD-40, silicone lube, nothing works. I've tried putting it in the freezer for an hour and that didn't help. Finally got it loose by holding each end with vise grips/channel locks and twisting as hard as I could. So, my recommendation? Ditch the latch hole driller and use a appropriately sized spade bit on your drill instead.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Decent. A little worrisome This thing worked pretty well but.... I didnt like the clamping system. It only has one clamp and its off center in the corner which leads this to have a not ao sturdy attachment to the door. I would have liked it to have a clamp right in the middle like the yellow brand. Also the adjustment to go from 2 3/8 to 2 3/4 is easily knocked out of adjustment when drilling which could add to frustration. If youre doing alot of doors just pass and get a used good one and then resell it when youre done. If you need to do one or two this should work fine. I bought this because I needed it right away. If i had the time to wait for shipping I would have bought the dewalt one.

Rated 4 de 5 de par best at it i bought this to enlarge 10 door handle holes to accept new door hardware. it worked great. i would recommend buying a larger abor bit to go along with it, it comes with an adapter but i spend more time trying to remove the adapter then i did install the door knobs. it couldn't be easier to set up and drill, the hardest part is cutting out the mortise for the latch to sit in.

I have router templates for the hinges, strike, etc. I would spend too much time laying out the hole for the lock sets. One of my son's just bought a house and wanted to install deadbolt locks, I suggested that he wait for me. I was in Home Depot and looked for a hole saw template to go along with my other door hanging tools. I found the Milwaukee and thought that it was worth a try. The Milwaukee Door Lock Installation Kit made the layout a breeze. I had the job done in no time without the usual second guessing myself. I would recommend the kit to anyone installing a lock set on a book door or adding a dead bolt.

This Milwaukee Door Lock installation hole saw set (49-22-4073) is great up to one little critical point: the 2 1/8" hole saw doesn't really cut a metal door. I showed the Milwaukee rep at store HD 4040 the evidence, including the cookies cut out (barely) and the worn-out hole saw after just ONE hole. On the cover it states "metal" stating that it will work for a metal door. My rating: 5 stars for the jig, and 1 star for the hole saw. I can't recommend it unless you only do wood doors. * The jig is slick - takes out all of the guesswork. * If you do metal doors a lot (I do) you will want to order 49-56-9210 or similar. * They conveniently added some drill bits for the screws. Be careful when opening the package or you will lose them (loose). Since I do these types of doors a lot, I kept the jigs (which is handy) and ordered the upgraded hole saw (49056-9210). I am adding a picture of the worn-out teeth on the hole saw.

I love how this allows you to tighten it down to the door , and also adjust the size if needed. it's also built a bit heavier than I thought it would be. The holes line up perfectly, but there is a bit of play once you insert and start drilling with the cutting bit. This causes the inside to get chewed up a bit while in use. I really wish they would add some sort of metal ring inside to protect the plastic a bit more. I would have no problem spending a bit more $ if they added a bit more protection. As for the pilot bit, it works well except for the plastic piece that attaches to the bottom of the cutting bit. I actuallybossed that price and it worked fine after. All in all, I think they could make this a 5 star product, but I'm still happy with it. My video review link is posted below https://youtu.be/EzKepwpry9s

The setup was very easy, once I chose the location on the door the jig was self-centering. The unit has protective rubber grips that help hold the jig in place once you tighten it down. There was no movement what-so-ever. Drilling was a bit of a challenge for me, I did not get the 2 1/8" hole to go through at 90 degrees, but it was good enough to install the door hardware. In fact, I chewed up the jig a bit while drilling - my fault, not the jig. I would recommend this product to a friend.

What are the included 4 pilot bits for? (Two (2) 3/32" and two (2) 1/8" drill bits) They don't seem to provide any value to the functionality of this kit.
Posée par: Tom
Tom, that is exactly what they are PILOT BITS. They are used in conjunction with the hole saw to stabilize the saw to give you a perfect hole. Both in the door and in the edge of the door for the latch to fit through. Hope this helps.

Will this work on a 1 1/4" thick door?
Posée par: Scout
Yes, you can use this hardware jig on a 1-1/4" door; however, since the jig is really intended for use on doors from 1-3/8" through 1-3/4" thick, it will likely not clamp tightly to the door. If it doesn't clamp tightly, it will move around as you try to drill the holes. To overcome this problem, use two 1/16" thick spacers to make up the missing 1/8" of thickness. Place one spacer on each side of the door between the jig clamp and the face of the door. If necessary you could also use a C-clamp to provide additional pressure to hold the jig in place while drilling. Placing the spacers on each side of the door not only secures the jig to the door but it also assures that the hole you're drilling for the lock set latch is properly centered on the edge of the door.

What is the best way to remove the 2-1/8'' hole saw from the arbor

Posée par: Adam12
Good question. I’ve found that tapping the assembly with a hammer a bunch of times until it’s loose enough for me to unscrew it with my hand works. It sounds ridiculous but trust me, it works all the time.

Has anyone tried using this on a prefinished fiberglass door? I assume tape the door then bore the hole. Just curious if anyone had any success?
Posée par: Randy
Had success with it though my door was solid wood, It was tough, and ended up with few nitch and dongs around the knob because even though it was tight, the power of the drill still moved it.

This tool was supposed to be for DIY idiots like myself, and it worked for the most part except one of the larger drill bit got jammed and I couldn’t replace it with the smaller drill bit. Actually took the piece to Ace Hardware, where they put the piece in a vice and was finally able to detach it with a plumbers wrench. The holes were cut very cleanly though. PRO TIP: I think about the hole that the bolt retracts into.

What is used for the door frame?

Posée par: Njc
The smaller hole saw can be used for the frame, but you’ll need to properly measure and mark for the hole.
