Rated 5 de 5 de par Impressive drill bit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fast cutting, aggressive drill bit. Yet while being aggressive, it actually takes small bites, resulting in quick yet smooth drilling, with little “catching” or binding. It also appears to be very durable, I have drilled a dozen holds in ¼ inch steel, and the bits shows no sign of dulling. I like the 3 flats cut on the shank, preventing the bit from slipping in the chuck, which can be a problem with larger bits and more powerful drills. While cobalt bits are considerably more expensive than HSS, their longer life and ability to drill harder materials outweighs the additional cost.

I had problems with it from the first hole tried to drill. Used cutting oil and a drill press from the start and still bad. After six hours I got thru half the holes I had to drill and stopped and looked at tip of bit; center of cutting surface was fine but edges were rounded. Was only cutting carbon steel angle iron. Bit was worn out from the first cut. From the first hole on, the drill would start fine but when the edges start cutting bit would slow. After 6 hours purchased a Dewalt bit at half the price and cut the remaining holes in 30 minutes. Then used the Dewalt bit at site to drill even more holes.

I drilled 10 holes through 3/8" steel plate before the first bit seemed to be getting dull. I bought the second bit and it broke on the 1st try, so the original bit was used to finish all 18 holes. The photo was after 18 holes were finished.

On the fifth hole, the tip was black and completely ineffective. I used a file to refresh the bit, but that didn't last. Knowing I had many more holes to drill, ordered a Bosch bit off the internet which was $10 cheaper. No comparison, the Bosch bit keeps going and going. Milwaukee is not a hand tool/accessories manufacturer. To suddenly sell so many, they've had to source the products from contract manufacturers. Most quality contract manufacturers were already manufacturing for others, leaving Milwaukee to source from whomever was left. In my opinion, they've only dragged their fine power tool reputation through the mud.

Rated 5 de 5 de par not as bad as everyone else makes them out to be So far my experience with these bits has been pretty decent, they are a little brittle but that’s to be expected for CO bit. If you properly use the drill bit you’ll have no problems.

Rated 1 de 5 de par DO NOT BUY You would think, being a Milwaukee product, that this bit would be high quality. It's not. I had to purchase three of them just to put ~20 holes in 1/4" steel (yes, using low speed and keeping the bit lubricated). The first bit only drilled 6 holes before it was completely dull...the second one, only 2. I'm beyond disappointed in this product and have submitted a complaint asking for a refund of the two additional bits that I shouldn't have had to buy.

Will this drill a clean hole in corrugated polycarbonate roof sheeting without causing chips or cracks?

Posée par: TomColina
Yes, this drill bit will make clean holes in polycarbonate roof sheeting. In order to ensure clean holes, we recommend drilling at medium speed on a flat surface, while using limited pressure on the tool. For best results, run your new drill bit through wood or metal for a few holes before drilling in polycarbonate.
