Rated 3 de 5 de par Too slow in lower torque settings. I bought this drill as a tool-only package after buying the hammer drill brother. In my line of work we install/remove thousands of fine thread, sheet metal fasteners that don't need a lot of torque. As a review above said, on the lower torque settings it spins up. And once you find a torque setting that spins up in a short amount of time, it easily over torques every fastener we have. I love the idea of the electronic clutch, but I can't use it in my line. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat if they had a centrifugal clutch, or an eclutch that ramped up quickly in the lower torque setting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice compact drill from Milwaukee. It feels well-balanced in my hand and at the same time the overall weight and materials give the impression I will own this for a long time. The all metal chuck is a welcome change from those that use plastic for this component. The larger 4.0 amp battery lasts a long time and makes it possible to set the drill in an upright position. The smaller 2.0 amp battery, (also included) will be nice in case I use up the larger battery, I can keep going while the other is recharging. Very nice tool and I really appreciate the heavy-duty carrying case.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for all Electrician I'm an electrician in Canada here and I use my drill in a lot of cold areas and I've have it for over two months now and the drill performs in the coldest weather -35 C and it was still going hard with a full battery all day The drill performs beautifully just put on receptacle boxes and getting to places with also the adjustable speed and torque The all metal clutch came unscrewed a couple of times once you got it she just had given mixture of notch over and It stayed tight all day can't complain about the drill great drill way better than any Dewalt warm Mikita that I've ever used and I use them all up to here

Rated 1 de 5 de par E-Clutch: Half-Baked Good Idea. Here's the Fix The E-Clutch is a good idea to slowly start a screw that has only an indentation from a center punch, or no indentation at all. But the drill torque on the lowest setting still strips all screws if you are not very, very careful. FUTURE SOLUTION? Yet here is my suggestion. First, the E-Clutch slow start (when you press the trigger) is only for starting screws so it doesn't walk on you, correct? Hence, there should be just a separate "slow start" button for a ONE-TIME slow drill start to start a screw when you press the trigger. After, the drill turns 1 or 2 rotations the slow start goes away and the chosen torque setting is electonically enabled. Thus, you still get a torque control after the screw is started and near the end of the driving of the screw. This "slow start" button is a ONCE PER TRIGGER enablement. That means you have to again press the this "slow start" button for the next slow start before you hit the trigger. If you don't hit this slow start button, the trigger will automatically always choose the chosen torque setting and the drill will NOT do a slow start just like the traditional cordless drills by Milwaukee. Hope this makes sense as there is essentially no torque control with this E-clutch drill as it is designed right now.

Rated 1 de 5 de par I would never buy this model drill again. It’s used to drill holes yet despite being brand new the chuck runs so far out of round that it physically wobbles the drill in your hand. Impossible to drill an accurate hole. The only good thing I have to say about it is it’s size is smaller than the previous M12 model I purchased. I shipped it in for warranty repair through EService. The chuck and some internal gears were replaced for “abnormal wear” after literally less than a couple hours of use. It was returned to me with the new parts but functions the same. This would make a better paperweight than drill. Garbage product that didn’t work right out of the box when new or shortly after that when it was repaired by Milwaukee.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the price point this is a steal! it has some weight to it, but that is due to the metal chuck and metal internals of the brushless motor. What caught me off guard was the slow start when you pull the trigger, but it helps to keep the screw in place while you start the drill. With 350 in/lbs. of power this drill can handle the majority of your daily tasks. For drill and driving applications I will be using this for the majority of my work unless I use my new m12 compact impact. These two will keep my other 15 Milwaukee M12 and M18 drills and impacts in my work bench at home. More great quality tools from Milwaukee, and this is priced right!

The set that I purchased came with a ratcheting wrench [which is the reason why purchased it]. The ratcheting wrench itself doesn't have the greatest torque so you may be breaking bolts loose before you can hit them with the wrench but it easily cut several minutes up to an hour over doing it by hand. The battery lasted 6 hours at the junkyard with no signs of stopping. I was able to get the ratcheting wrench to fit in the case with the drill an extra battery by putting it in an angle and removing the charger.

where are they finding these drills? I did not think they were availible.

The kit is out of stock but if you want to buy now, you can buy the tool, battery (12V Only) and charger separately. To buy the kit itself, you have to wait a little, it will be available soon.

What does brushless mean?

Posée par: Ellos
Brushless means the tool's motor does not have carbon brushes. This results in a more efficient tool that requires less service due to the absence of the wearable carbon brushes. It is also important to note that this is a FUEL™ tool. So in addition to a POWERSTATE™ Brushless motor, the tool also has REDLINK PLUS™ Technology and REDLITHIUM™ Batteries resulting in unmatched speed, power, and performance.

How does the M12 Fuel compare to non-fuel M18 compact brushless 2850-20 for delicate work like assembling flat-packed furniture? Already have M18 batteries and charger but M18 fuel is too powerful and would overdrive screws. M18 compact brushless is $99 and the cheapest M12 kit is $144 with batterries. M12 fuel is electronic clutch 1700 RPMs and 350 in./lbs. torque M18 brushless compact is mechanical clutch is 6.5 in. length 500 in. - lbs. of torque, 500-1800 RPM
Posée par: kilroy
Because I have both models and have used them both for delicate work, I can assure you they are both just fine for assembling furniture. Both have adjustable clutches, speed and torque. There is no danger of overdriving screws if the settings are reasonable and we use reasonable caution at first. In fact the ONLY operational difference I notice is how brushless motors must jump between speeds. That's true of all DC brushless motors not just Milwaukee. Because of that single detail, I might have a small preference for the brushed model over the brushless. But I know from experience they both work well, even for very fine work like assembling and adjusting electric guitars. And remember, we always perform the final twist by hand anyway, even if we do that with the cordless drill. So what really matters is the user's touch, not the type of motor. I hope that helps you make a good decision, and maybe even saves you some money too. Best wishes!

Is this the top of the line for a M12 drill driver a fuel 1/2 drill driver? How does this compare to the M18 2801-20 compact brushless? Looking for a compact drill to handle delicate work and flat packed furniture assembly without stripping. Also, does this have an electronic or mechanical clutch? And is this the same as the 2504-20 hammer drill in drill driver non hammer form? Don't want a hammer drill.
Posée par: fursuree
This is the top of the m12 drill/driver but I would recommend a ratcheting screwdriver for the work you are describing
