Rated 1 de 5 de par Bought 2 and replaced 1 now neither works again The idea behind these fans are great in theory but in our climate they do not work. I installed 2 in my renovated bathrooms and within 2 months had to replace one under warranty that quite working. They do NOT work in the winter and I have had to use a vacuum cleaner to blow hot air into them to thaw them out so they would start. The warranty on both has now expired and neither are working this December!!! DO NOT BUY these in our climate if you install them in your attic.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Fan installation has cold weather issues we installed this fan when we did major home renovations this fall and winter. The fan does work well.......unless it is extremely cold outside. I called the #800 for Nutone and they got back to me with an answer as to why it may not work in cold weather..this is their engineer's reply: "ILF120 was originally designed for continuous operation it has no back draft damper. If he did not provide at least one it is likely that warm moist air is escaping and freezing when it gets to the blower. I normally recommend two dampers one at the inlet from the bathroom and one at the roof or wall cap." The kit we bought had the one damper which we installed according to the installation procedures included with the fan. I guess we will be getting another damper to install at the roof side of the unit to ensure it works in all weather conditions. Hope this helps other people in cold climates.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Whisper quiet alright.. I purchased this fan last year to install in my bathroom. Went with a little higher CFM than required. This fan doesn't really draw out the air fast enough so our mirror and window are always covered in condensation. Not dripping off the walls but it takes about 10 minutes to clear. :( The biggest problem I have with this fan is that when it's -10 or lower it doesn't work! Same thing happened last winter but now it won't come on at all. It's "whisper quiet" now because it's not running. I'm going to the store to pick up a 300 CFM fan today. That's what I should have picked up in the first place. Don't be fooled by the 5 star rating on this!! buy the higher CFM fan from the beginning. Now I have to get up in the attic to change this & it's -1 2out there...burrrr

Rated 5 de 5 de par Really quiet This is really a quiet fan, when installed properly. I first installed it in my basement bathroom because of teh limited space i had but was really surprised at how quiet it is especially it's inbetween a floor and ceiling i thought for sure we would hear it upstairs through the floor but it;s not the case. Redooing my bathroom upstairs and definetly will be installing this one again.

I need to exhaust two bathrooms with only one exterior exhaust vent. Q: can it serve two bthrms independently switched for individual and/or simultaneous use? How do I stop suction in one bthrm while allowing in the other or both at once?

Posée par: ichabodcrayne
When unit is turned on, from either bathroom, the motor will come on and exhaust both bathrooms simultaneously. You cannot exhaust the 2 rooms independent from one another.

new exhaust fan in washroom

having a new bathroom in basement would like to install a top notch powerful exhaust fan i can not seem to find the tubing tolead to outside wall

You can use 4" galvanized ducting sold at any Home Depot. It's sold in 2'& 4' lengths that can be cut to size with tin snips. Or you could use a flex able tubing.. Home Depot sells a 4" insulated sleeve you can slide over the flexible hose & I'm sure you could even use the sleeve on the galvanized 4" pipe. I wouldn't install any 4" in a cold attic without insulating it. Otherwise you'll have condensation in the attic and that's NOT a good thing. Also make sure you angle the 4" pipe slightly towards the outside..

Are there battery operated exhaust fans for a bathroom?

have an old bathroom with a shower in it ,it has a window but it still gets steamy and I have no wiring where I have the space to put an exhaust fan on an outside wall.
Posée par: Anonyme
This newtone fan would work for you. All you have to do is mount the vent inside the room and run a longer intake line (4") to somewhere you could tap into power. If you could keep the motor insulated from the cold I'm sure it would work fine. You could have the intake inside the bathroom and mount the motor over a bedroom (or whatever is closer) if that's possible.

Can I use this model to replace an in-wall unit by removing old unit and installing this one in-line between floor joists, close to outside wall?

Posée par: Anonyme
The issue w/ mounting a fan near the exterior is cold air infiltration (CAI) in winter. If you create some distance between fan & back-draft damper, you are less likely to get CAI. Ideal situation is : FAN>>>>>>>>>>>>>BDD>>>EXT (w/ Wall Cap)

What is the noise level of this fan?

In sonns please
Posée par: Anonyme
There is no sones rating for this unit as it is to be installed in the attic so you will not hear it. I hope this helps.
