The riser screws into the female end only one turn before it stops turning. The threads are going in correctly. I had to get out my channel locks and muscle the riser to the right height. I needed to add an extension part (4 inches) and that would only go in one turn. I used my channel locks (two pair to hold it in place) and my extension part cracked. Funny, all of my older Rain Bird risers work perfectly. I can't believe that Orbit can't make a simple cut off riser the right size. This problem is costing me time and money.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Breaks easily The first riser snapped in half when I tried to tighten the sprinkler on the thread. I was about to give up on those things and return the rest to the store, but I really needed to raise another sprinkler so I decided to try again. Using only minimal pressure - and risking a leaky connection - I managed to put everything together without breaking the piece, but my victory was short lived. As I filled the hole and stepped on the soil around the sprinkler to compact it, I heard a suspicious cracking noise. Sure enough, it was the riser snapping again. The only good thing about the product is that it fails immediately and completely - it would have been worse if it somehow managed to feign intactness, only to fail a few months later and produce a hard-to-track leak.

I actually bought a bunch of them because they’re so affordable and come in really handy each year when it’s time to adjust the sprinklers for the season. This season I decided to focus on sprinkler height to make sure I’m getting optimal spray. Instead of buying a ton of heads in various sizes, I used these risers in any location that sat too low. They’re simple to install. You can cut them to size based on how high you’d like your sprinklers to come out of the ground and then keep the other cut piece as a spare for later. Great bang for you buck

This is a great solution to raise the sprinkler back higher up. You do have to dig down to the bottom of the existing sprinkler body bottom. before I dig it up, I measure the distance it needs to come up. Also, you may need to my a double female coupler, search for "Orbit 1/2 in. PVC FNPT Coupling". Once you determine the height you need to raise, you can cutoff the riser to give the additional space. You can raise the head about 5 inches if you do not cut it and then can cut to raise from 1-4 inches. Use a sharp, strong box cutter, search for "Retractable Utility Knife" and cut the rise in space just before where the threads start. If you only need to raise your heads by 1-2 inches, search for "Orbit 1/2 in. x 2-1/2 in. Cut-Off Riser Extension".

I needed the entire length. Obviously with it being long and narrow, care should be used to not put excessive left or right pressure on it as it could damage the irrigation pipe below. In other words, it isn't made with flex grooves in it. Then again sprinkler heads aren't made to bounce around either. I installed mine on 02/26/18 and have not had a problem.

I use a hacksaw to cut once I decide on the length I need, and then it screws right in place. Very easy to get the result you want.

Which end does the hex nut go towards, down on the fitting end or up on the sprinkler head end?

Posée par: DIYer
It doesn't matter. Both ends are the same.

what are the six riser heights?

what are the six riser heights?
Posée par: portlander
Each section is 1 inch. Cut to desired length by removing unwanted sections. Make cut as close as possible to first unwanted section, leaving a bit of smooth pipe to thread into sprinkler. Trim away loose particles.
