Rated 1 de 5 de par Not dependable I have two of these. One was bought in 2019 and the other in 2020. They both lose their settings every couple of weeks, especially in extreme heat (exactly when needed the most). You come home after a few days away and your entire garden is toast. It is not due to low batteries. Energizer premium batteries used and have been replaced frequently but both units still lose settings.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Manifold leaks Manifold leaks after storing the device indoors during the winter. This makes no sense as I drained and stored at a temperature of 22C. Totally useless crap now. It lasted one season.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Timer review- all OK Easy to set up , so far works well with my sprinkler system . Nice to have third outlet for my hose connection. I would recommend.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Continually resets itself every few weeks. It continually resets itself. I think the one I have is faulty.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Worked great. Last 1 season. Bought it last summer. Worked great for the whole season. Brought it indoors for the winter and pulled the batteries, just like the manual says. Hooked it up this spring and it leaks internally. Totally useless now.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good quality, great product. I bought this item 4 years ago and since this unit is working flawlessly. The battery lasts 2 years easy. Eventhough the unit is waterproof, i put a grocery bag over it just to be on the safe side. Nothing really to complain about it.

I am very new to this irrigation systems world, so pardon my question if it is stupid. However, would like to make sure I understand before I buy....Why do I need the valves in addition to the timer system? Where do I connect the valves?

Posée par: andy
The valves connect to your water supply (hose faucet) and your garden hoses connects to the valve(s). Then the valves plug into the timer which tells them when to turn on and off. There are units that are combined timer/valve but they only control one valve. This unit will control 2 to 4 valves allowing you to water different areas at different times. Two valves come with this unit and you only need more if you want additional separate areas.

How long will batteries last with 2 zones running for 3 days per week at 3 hours per day

Posée par: Anonyme
The way the Yard Watering Kit designed the batteries are only used to turn the valves on and then off again. So the watering duration is actually not important for battery life. Orbit recommends replacing the batteries at the beginning of every new watering season and removing them if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time. Because not all batteries are created equal or for the same purpose, it is actually quite impossible to put a definitive life to any given set of batteries, although as general rule a new set of batteries should last an entire season under "normal use". Also note that there is a low battery indicator on the timer itself and so checking periodically for low battery power should give you lots of time to change them for uninterrupted watering.

is the programing lost when you change batteries

Posée par: Anonyme
The Yard Watering Kit does keep a residual charge that will hold the programming if the batteries are taken out. However the residual charge is small and so is the time that the programming will be saved. I would highly recommend having the new batteries open and ready so that you can quickly switch out the old for the new.

can i hook this to an automatic sprinkler system and if i could how many head can i put per valve

Posée par: Anonyme
This timer system is designed to run hose end sprinklers. So it would not really be appropriate to attach it to an automatic sprinkler system. The yard watering kit is an outdoor timer than comes with 2 Valves and can be expanded by up to 2 more valves (sold separately). Ideally you would connect a hose to each valve and position a sprinkler at the end of each hose. Then it can be setup to water automatically on each valve.

there is a 24 volt transformer on page 4 which can be used with this system.is that correct?

Posée par: Anonyme
This unit is battery operated only. So unfortunately there is no transformer available for it.

the picture shows just 2 programable valves on a 4 valve tap, does it come with just 2 and where can we buy the extra programable valves

Posée par: Anonyme
The Yard Watering Kit comes packaged with 2 Valves and can be expanded to handle up to 4 Valves. Additional valves (Article 1000667946) are available for purchase at your local Home Depot in the Plumbing Department along with the Underground Irrigation products.

should I use the 3/4" poly tube to attach to the 4 outlet valves?

I am not sure whether to buy the 1/2 " or 3/4 " poly tube for my 4 stations.
Posée par: Grasshopper
As already answered by Online Associate, the valves on the Yard Watering Kit have a Standard Hose Thread connection. So by attaching up to 4 hoses you can run 4 different sprinklers. If you wanted to use the Yard Watering Kit to run a small Drip Irrigation system you could look for the Female Hose Thread by 1/2" Barb Stake (Part 157449) so you could then connect some 1/2" Drip Tubing (Part 148851) so serve as a mainline. From there you can connect 1/4" tubing, fittings and micro irrigation spray heads available at most Home Depot stores in the Plumbing section.
