Oregon Scientific - Self-Setting Atomic ProjectionMy experience with this clock is over 13 years now. My 1st one I bought back in 2002. Somewhere in 2005 my Mom was vacuuming near my clock and the wire from the wall plug accidentally got vacuumed over. The wire was not cut all the way through but the outer plastic sleeve had been compromised and showing the copper wires now. The result of this accident left my clock only showing the projection for a few seconds when I pressed the top grey bar even if the side switch was selected to "projection on". I was in a bit of "what do I do now" state. Getting the required a/c wall adaptor with the very specific small connection into the clock was going to take a miracle. For the heck of it, I went to the Oregon Scientifc website and sent an e-mail about my issue to them clearly stating that the clock was out of it's warranty period and I lived in Canada. I got a very quick reply saying they needed my full address and that they would send me a replacement plug at no charge......imagine that....free a/c adaptor plug even though the product was clearly out of warranty. Within 1 week, I received a free replacement a/c adaptor plug shipped from USA to my Canadian address!! This customer service had a profound effect on me as I was more than willing to pay for the a/c adaptor plug
and any shipping costs, but they gave me no option (only FREE!!). I have bought 3 more of these exact clocks and will not buy any other brand but Oregon Scientific.
Regarding the comment from reviewer Nani (almost 7 years back), I disagree with the assessment of the failure of the clock to give the alarm at the correct time zone after a power outage. I simultaneously use 2 x AA batteries + a/c wall adaptor. Once you choose which time zone you are in and set the alarm while in that time zone, it will ring at the appropriate time and time zone even after a power outage. It WILL DEFAULT back to Pacific time zone after a power outage but will maintain the proper alarm time with time zone. It happened to me only once so far. My alarm is normally set to 5:10 AM Eastern time zone. One night the alarm went off and when I checked the time it showed 2:10 AM which confused me as it rang 3 hours early. When I checked more closely, the time zone was showing Pacific time zone (due to the power outage), but when I switched it back to Eastern time it was correct at 5:10 AM. To be safe, use both the batteries + a/c adaptor......do not only use one or the other. You won't regret it...trust me!!

Alarm ClockEasy clock to program.
Love the single big slam snooze button on top that doesn't affect other setting while you are half asleep...
Only drawbacks: The viewing angle of the LCD screen. Unless straight on, it's hard to read.
Alarm settings on the left of the screen is too small.

does what I need it forI originally received this as a gift. Unfortunately, it fell on the floor a few times and the LED display didn't work very well. So, I purchased this one. I have a back problem and there are times when I wake up, I can't move very well to see the clock. This unit works well for me. I also like the temperature readings, the automatic time change and the portability of the unit.
In all, I am very happy with the unit.

My 2nd one! This is my second one. Love that it auto-sets itself and I now find that I can't live without the time projected on the ceiling (ever notice how you look at your wrist more often when you forget to wear your watch...). Never noticed the Pacific time zone thing, BUT I loaded mine with backup batteries. It can take a couple of hours to auto-set but who cares. Interestingly, my first one focused perfectly when sitting less than 24 inches off the floor. This one NOT SO, so I have it on a table 30 inches from floor and the projection focus is at least "bearable" (clock height annoying however). How about a tiny "focus" set screw at the back of the unit?

Not a good productOverall, not a product I would recommend.
The pluses: it's really easy to set up manually, light weight, and doesn't take up much room at all on your night table.
The minuses: For starters, the temperature is displayed in degrees Fahrenheit only - not in Celsius, and no, you can't switch. If there is a power blackout, the clock sure comes back to the right time - it's an atomic clock - but it reverts by default to the Pacific time zone (PST) no matter how you set it before - and if you live in Ontario like I do, you may wake up 3 hours late.
And lastly, the projection lasted about a year and a half. Now all I see is a messed up bunch of red lines on the ceiling, so it's no longer a projection clock, but a nuisance.
