Rated 5 de 5 de par [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Ottomanson Dark Beige 8.5 inch x 26.5 inch non slip rubber backed stair tread Covers came in a set of 14 pieces. They also have sets of 13, 7 and 5 pieces. They are a good quality tread cover and have a rubberized back which helps keep them in place. In an abundant of caution I will use some carpet tacks or better yet double sided carpet tape to hold them more securely in place. They do seem to slip a bit especially on a glossy polyurethaned wood floor. Right out of the package the corners were a bit curled but they seem to have flattened out nicely now. We are very pleased with the look and quality at a good price.

I bought these because my elderly 60lb dog was having slippage problems going up and down the smooth wooden flight of stairs in our house. I was originally planned to attach them to the steps with double sided carpet tape, but my wife didn't want to make it permanent. It has helped my dog tremendously. The rubber backing keeps the rug mostly in place when she walks on it. However, when people walk on them they tend to move around, and especially if I am running down the stairs. I wash the steps and rubber backing every few days to ensure the best traction, but if you want them to stay in place then they will have to be secured

Very thin carpeting, corners roll up and catch in vacuum cleaner, rubber on bottom is so thin that the mats often move when one walks on them. Impossible to keep them looking straight on the stairs. These matts are more of a hazard than a protection from slipping on the steps. They slide around even when light footed kids or pets step on them. I took them off the steps the same day I put them down. However, they make good mats for dog and cat dishes in the kitchen! Cheap, washable and easy to throw away. Shame on Home Depot for carrying such a poor quality product.

He recently slipped on the wooden stairs and is now afraid of them. I got these to give him some traction ... I only had stair runners before. I like that these are individual. This way, if one gets damaged, I can replace it (used 9 of 14); and not have to replace the entire runner. They are nice looking, but not luxurious. I would have preferred Wool, but being in a basement, will probably hold up better with the Summer humidity. They have a rubberized back, but they did not stick well. I ended up using a staple gun to staple them down. I would not call them Dark Beige ... they are Beige.

There are some minor quality assurance issues where corners were not finished properly and required cutting or trimming. Some corners had to be pressed so that the carpet would lay flat to the surface. These are minor issues but had it not been for this I would have rated it higher. The install and the carpet tape I ordered worked great and it is "pet" proof although not stated. I would recommend the product to others and definitely would buy it again.Aungie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These treads have a great non skid backing. I have only had them on our steps for a couple of days, but so far no sliding is occurring. We did not have to use additional secure options to keep treads in place. The carpet like finish is a great addition to the steps. These are high traffic steps so its nice to have a softer surface. They take minutes to install. No tools necessary, which is great. No sticky residue to deal with like on other treads. Much more stylish then the previous rubber treads that were on the steps.

they said that they were non-skid, no need to secure on bare wood. I had to return them because my grandkids kept falling down the stairs. They were not non slip. On carpeted stairs I would think they would grip better.

I have them on wood steps on the inside of the house so I would say yes they can be used on the wood steps in the garage. (might get dirty quicker in the garage)

I used double sided carpet tape. I put them In cellar stairs which I painted so I didn’t really care about the tape affecting the finish of a more formal stair. I put two strips of tape on each tread. It has been about 18 months and the treads looks as good as new.

Is this safe for a 45lb dog to go up and down the stairs?

Good Question. I bought these stair pads about two years ago and I have a little dog (20 lbs). To make certain that my little guy didn't break her neck while transiting.the steps, I secured them with 1 inch long nails in the corners. Drive the nails relatively deep into the edge pile of the pads to assure that they do not come in contact with the puppy's toes. I do not believe that just depending on the non-skid backing of the pads is enough to provide safety for dogs or even people. My little dog goes up and down the steps at least 50 times a day with no problem. Occasionally a pad will come loose which is remedied simply by pulling out the defective nail and replacing it with a new nail in the same area. Remember dogs use the middle of the stair pads, not the edges, so in normal use they should not come in contact with the nails. By now you probably have ascertained that "I am a dog lover". Hope this helps.

First I would not use these outdoor. I don't believe they could take any kind of inclement weather. Next, I would not trust these to stay in place just because they have a rubber back. In my case, I installed them over carpet leading from my garage to the first floor of my house. The purpose: to keep my steps clean and attract dirt from the garage before it got to my living level. I tacked them at the corners with 1" brads with a small head and they have been holding tight for two (2) years. Trusting just the rubber back in my opinion would be dangerous. It only takes one slip to brake a leg or a hip. Hope this helps.
