Rated 5 de 5 de par Easy To Install and Does The Job. Had a leak in the attic and when I looked up saw daylight coming through the roof around the vent pipe. I was all set to spend time laying down a mesh repair and covering it all in roof tar all the while tryng not to slide off my steep-pitched roof when I saw this roof boot in the roofing aisle and decided to give it a try. It actually took me less than 5 minutes to install and I was down off the roof. When the next rain came I went up to the attiv and no leak, no daylight. One of the best new inventions on the market. I put some roof tar on top of the pipe to give it an extra seal and had it fit real snug. Just make sure you measure the I.D. of your pipe so you dont make the extra trip back. Check out Utube for actual repairs using the Boot.

It takes 30 seconds to install. The only down side, which isn't really a downside is the height of the unit. It's only about 16" tall WHEN YOU USE BOTH PARTS. Solution? Don't use the top part, and a small amount of silicone where the schedule 40 extends beyond the lower piece. The schedule 40 diameter and the product tolerance are snug and not loose fitting. So you could probably get away without the silicone... but we're talking about a water leak potential, so spend the $5, on a small tube of silicone, and save yourself the $1,000 repair.

Very easy to install; a "cap" that slips on the very top of the vent pipe ensures any rain or snow falling straight down from the sky falls down inside the vent pipe, and can't run down between the outside of the vent pipe and the inside of the "boot." That's a nice extra layer of protection. One tip - vent pipes come in a variety of sizes, so if you aren't positive about the size on your home, measure first. This product is sized based on the inside diameter of the vent pipe.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Not for furnace vent. I wasn't able to fit the plastic sleeve over the pipe after I had installed the rubber boot. This may be because this particular 3" pipe has another 2" pipe inside of it the outside pipe is the exhaust for a gas furnace and the inside pipe is the air intake for the furnace. I think (hope) that it will still be water tight since I siliconed around the top of the boot where it meets the pipe. It was very easy to install the boot but I wish the sleeve would have fit over it.

The bottom half adjust to any pitch. The connections on the side allow it to pivot/swivel to meet the roof pitch.

Probably yes. No psychical attachment. It slips over pipe. May need to do an alteration with hack saw. As the pipe didn't protrude long enough. I had to cut in sleave. The product is two pieces. It just sits on roof. Heavy enough not to blow off. Squirrel proof??? I dont know.

Yes it can be used on a metal roof if there is an existing vent. It doesn't really attach to the roof itself it just slides down over the pipe and hopefully covers the portion of the existing boot that is cracked. I used several of them and one of the existing boots was cracked so far out away from the pipe that the repair boot didn't cover the damaged area.

No it does not according to the instructions. This was confirmed by my own experience. They said you might use an adhesive if you live in a high wind area. The top piece fits down so tight on the roof pipe that I don't think mine would come off without cutting tools. Still very happy with my purchase. We had high winds (for Michigan) a couple days ago and its fine. Good luck! Chuck

Our vent is a pvc pipe. Inside measurement is 3 inches but outside of the pvc is 3.25 inches. Do we buy a 3 inch boot?

Yes, My vent is PVC, inside is 3" diameter, outside is about 3.5." I bought the 3" boot, and it was a perfect fit.
