Rated 2 de 5 de par Half the brightness I was expecting I bought six of these to replace six 32-Watt T-8 fluorescent lamps in my basement. They were relatively inexpensive (roughly double the price of equivalent fluorescents) and as easy to install as fluorescents, but they were only about half the brightness. I am an electrician so I know that I did not "do" anything wrong (and yes, my fixtures have electronic ballasts, not magnetic). I just wish that I had my photometer on hand to measure the lumens so that I could provide quantitative evidence. The photo that I took does not do it justice, but it still illustrates how much dimmer these new LEDs are (background) than the existing 4-year old T-8 fluorescents (foreground). I will be returning all six.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Bought Philips Universal instead Philips instantfit - it's supposed to work with old and new fixture and balast. It didn't work with my old balast, I had to buy new balast too. With new balast works fine but why complicate? For another room, I just bought the Philips LED Universal instead, and it was much better: it worked with the 20 yrs old balast out of the box.

I have a Sylvania Magnetic Ballast MB2x40.120 RS (Rapid Start 120V 60HZ .074 Amps). I use T8 4FT 40W fluorescent tubes and tried your Instantfit 32W LED but they didn't work. Can you suggest which LED tubes I should use?

Posée par: fnap
Mainsfit – for use when bypassing ballast (no ballast) , InstantFit – for use with electronic ballasts (most, see philips list), Universalfit – for use with magnetic ballasts. i don't know why Philips and Home Depot can't make this clearer to customers.

the heading says, "Philips LED 32W T8 InstantFit 48 inch Cool White(4000K)", but the specs say 16 W. Which is correct?

Posée par: Ron1
According to the label on the tube itself, it is 16 W. I suspect the "32 W" is reference to the usual rating for this size tube when it is a flourescent, similar to the way incandescent replacements make reference to their counterpart watt rating.

Follow-up on my previous question: My client plans to eliminate the use of ballast, so this bulb runs without it right? Just to make sure. Thanks

Posée par: Alvin
NO. from philips: Our InstantFit tubes are made to be used with drivers or ballasts. their product called mainsFit is the one that can be used without ballasts or drivers. their terminology is very confusing.

planning to upgrade from old fluorescent bulb to LED.my questions are: 1.type of LED fluorescent to use? 2.4 bulbs on each fixture using 32W, do I need to match the same numbers? or I can use just 2 each? 3.how about the lamp holders? Thanks

Posée par: Alvin
Hello, you need to use same number of LED tubes as they have Fluorescent tubes. Ensure that if your fixtures uses T8s, that they use the T8 LED Instant fit. The lamp holders will work for both LED & Fluorescent.
