Rated 5 de 5 de par Finally true 50W MR16 replacement! Like most, I've been looking for 50W MR16 LED replacement for a while. I loved my Philip 35W (~400 lumens) bulbs but they weren't bright enough. I ended up buying a bunch from Amazon. While those were cheap and bright... they didn't last long. More than 30% stopped working after 8 month of moderate use! So I'm sticking to a solid brand like Philips. The Philip 35W LED MR16 I had from 4 years ago still works! Bought a number of those new 50W replacement ones and they are amazingly bright. I will update this review in a year time on how durable they are.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great light & color - a hidden dull fan noise I bought 2 at the store today. I have been trying out MR-16 LED for a while now. Color has been terrible and light poor. I was excited t wait and finally get the Phillips bulbs. I have plenty of the other types of Phillips LED bulbs and think they are great. The hidden secret with these bulbs is that they have a fan inside them and the noise is noticeable. It is not loud and the DB meter didn't pick the noise level up, but it is there. If you don't like a hiss then I doubt that you would like a fan noise. They are cool: Reg halogen 50 watt = 154ºF; these LED bulbs (Model 453480) (50 Watt) - 84ºF. More than acceptable. Yes, expensive, but the quality is there. As good as it get for now!

Rated 4 de 5 de par getting there, but halogens still have advantages This is the first mr16 LED I've found that will work consistently in a ceiling "pot" installation. Unfortuantely, the thing that allows it to work -- little fans that exhaust out the center of the unit -- also means that the lights emit a low level of noise. In industrial applications it would lilkely be fine, but in a home situation it could be annoying. Also, the light beam is tighter than the halogens I replaced it with. The quality of light is good. So, instead of replacing all my halogenes with these, I've just replaced a handful, and will stop at that.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good LED swap These work well and run pretty cool Especially compared to regular halogen. I even use them in enclosed fixtures.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Our fixtures can only use these Our track fixture can only use these Airflux MR16 bulbs. We tried with the other types but it keeps strobing versus this particular bulb model. These are very hard to find in the store and I will buy many more if they have them in stock. Worth the price. The last set we bought in 2014 (total of 6) and two just died Dec 2020. They were on daily for at least 8 hours because the corner of our kitchen is dark. I would highly recommend if you can find them in stock. I keep searching once in a while to order some more.

Rated 5 de 5 de par has performed excellently for 3yrs / 15,900+ hours I started putting these in late 2011 when I first saw them. By Jan 2012 I had put in over 50 of these, and by the years end over 100. They run 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week. I use them in a visitor's center for expensive artwork and kiosk illumination. I have had only 2 fail over that time (it is now Jan 2015). Some are in a location where they run 24/7 and have been in service for over 26,000 hours and haven't failed. They work on either magnetic ballasts or electronic. The light output is good with impressive color rendering, much better than the best halogen available. You NEED to know that they have a cooling fan inside, so they HAVE to breath freely through the face. Do not use the UV filtering glass that usually comes with the track-head (they put out NO UV, so you don't need them). The fan pulls air in through four curved slots near the perimeter of the face and expels it through the hole in the center of the face. All of these orifices must remain unobstructed! Once or twice a year I walk around with a can of air and blow the dust out of them (I once had one start strobing because a dust ball had stopped the fan; blew it out and it cooled and stopped strobing). For our purposes we broke even on cost due to electrical savings after about 13 months, and have been saving money (and trips up the ladder) ever since. They have some newer, similar bulbs now available with the same build-design but more efficient that are undoubtedly as reliable. I will certainly be buying more of them, whenever my first batch finally burn out.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Not the same shape as a normal MR16 bulb so may not fit in existing fixtures Using in a recessed fixture in kitchen ceiling to replace normal MR16 bulbs as they burn out. One problem is that the dimensions of this Philips LED bulb are not the same as a regular MR16 bulb. There is a clear plastic protrusion that holds the LEDS. This is clearly shown in the photos on the web site. But it did not occur to me, when I was ordering it, that this would interfere with the bulb being placed into an existing fixture. In my case, the fixture includes a glass bezel against which a normal MR16 bulb would be flush. There isn't enough room then for the Philips LED bulb. Luckily I was able to remove the bezel and then the bulb fit. The instructions on the back up the bulb packaging indicate that it is not suitable for totally enclosed fixtures. Our fixture is not totally enclosed but I suppose that we'll find out whether this works. Although there are reports of noise from the bulb in other reviews, I cannot hear it all, amidst the background noise of the kitchen (refrigerator compressor, etc.). I worry about the durability of the bulb in the kitchen application. Up at the ceiling in a kitchen, it is surely hot with the heat of the stove and oven rising up. If another LED bulb comes out that was correct MR16 dimensions and did not indicate fixture restrictions I would prefer that one. The light from this bulb is whiter that the o conventional bulbs. The packaging is frustrating to open with lots of environmentally bad plastic relative to the bulb; the plastic is nominally recylcable but for mail order why not frustration free packaging?

I purchased some in HDP store, 1001-026-614, model 453480 and my "lighting facts" label says 640 lumens. Image above shows "lighting facts" label that says 500 lumens... I'm confused and would prefer 640 lumens. Are these really 500?

Description says Flood and Spot with the same skew. What's up w that and Spot in store is $5.00 cheaper than Flood.

I need the Flood - what skew number and price is the Flood? Is Philips saying these bulbs perform identical functions?
Posée par: SusanMcHugh
Hi SusanMcHugh, for this 50W Equivalent Bright White (3000K) MR16 Dimmable LED Flood Light Bulb, per Philips the light-bulb should be described as a flood light but can depend on set up and casing. We do not offer this type of light as a spot-light on Homdepot.com however here is a product that may also suit your needs: Model # 454371, Internet # 205915467, Store SKU # 1000020690. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

OK for landscape fixtures ? (enclosed)

Now using 50 watt halogen 12volt MR16 which generates a lot of heat in the enclosed & gasketed fixtures, so I'm hoping to reduce heat as well as wattage & increase lifespan.

We do not have a 50 watt equivalent LED that will work in an enclosed landscape fixture..

Is this the same as 9290011234?

I currently have Philips MR16 LEDs that say 640 lumens dimmable 10W 3000K 36 degree beam spread. Printed on the side is 9290011234. At homedepot.com I see Model # 453480 but it is listed as 50 Watt equivalent, 500 lumens, 7W on the single quantity page. On the four pack page it says 50W equiv. in the title, but 35W equivalent in the specs. Here it says 10W, 500 lumens. It is here that a Philips response to a question states "these are the only Philips equivalent LED 50W MR16s available" in July of 2015. So, my question is, are the exact bulbs I currently own still available? Is that what Model # 453480 actually is, with incorrect info listed? Thank you.
Posée par: SteveT
THDSupport, I think you misunderstood the question. The bulb I have is a 50W equivalent bulb. The 10W is actual wattage. Since asking this question, I have learned some more. Based on a visit to my local store, I believe the answer is that the #453480 is the same thing as what I have now. For some reason, Philips prints one number on the bulb (92900011234), but puts a different number on the package (453480). I have also called Philips Lighting and they tell me that this bulb is obsolete, although still apparently sold by HD. They tell me that the new bulb goes by the numbers 92900011502 and 457549 as well as 8.5MRX16/F35 3000 DIM AF. The specs are very similar, with slight improvements in lumens, wattage and life. I expect that HD will be carrying this new one instead of the current offering at some point.

How is this dimmable

Operating voltage is not listed. Will it work with a 12V DC supply? if DC is used, does it support PWM dimming?
Posée par: elgrivna
Philips MR16 LED lamps are 12VAC- note the AC, they are not designed for 12VDC operation. They work with standard dimmable magnetic or electronic MR16 transformers with AC output. NOTE: the transformer MUST be used with the correct magnetic- MLV or electronic- ELV line-voltage dimmer. And they dim great!

Are these lamps your best replacement of a 50 W halogen lanndscape light fixture lamp? If not please recomend!

Posée par: Harold
Yes, these are the only Philips equivalent LED 50W MR16s available. There is also a 35W LED eqivalent available.
