[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t concerned with the quality of this grate for actually burning wood, as mine isn’t a working fireplace, merely decorative. My plan was to place candles on this grate and thought this would work well since it had the mesh bottom. However, the grate doesn’t sit level and wobbles, which could be a problem with burning candles. (And I know that the new concrete fireplace floor is level.) Also, the mesh ‘ember retainer’ doesn’t go all the way to the steel bar on one side in the front. (I found this out when I picked it up and cut my finger on the end of the exposed metal mesh.) For those reasons I am not particularly happy with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one very heavy duty, sturdy, and well constructed fireplace grate. I have absolutely no concerns whatsoever about placing a big stack of wood on this thing. The size is as expected and is a perfect fit for my fireplace. And it's high enough that there's plenty of clearance above my gas pipe that passes underneath it. I also like the open mesh 'screen' on the bottom to prevent the larger embers from falling through the bottom while still allowing the ashes to easily pass through. Obviously, this is not exactly the right time of year to actually test it out, but I have no doubt it will be more than adequate if/when winter comes to Texas this year.

Black powder coated heavy duty steel. What I really like is that it is angled and is smaller in the back than in the front. This makes it a perfect fit for my fireplace! The ember retainer screen keeps the hot large embers collected in the fire area instead of allowing them to fall down into the ash pile. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I'm pretty sure this will be much better than my old grate!

It was a good idea to go to the web site to see the different size options available to get a grate that fit my fireplace. Very solid and sits level. I'm hopeful that the mesh grating welded in place stands up to the the heat without being deformed. Two uses and so far, so good.

The opening of my fireplace is pretty standard but the floor space is small, hence the 24" size. The grate feels substantial and sturdy but easy for me to maneuver. There are five bars between the 24" length rods, giving ample support for logs. A really nice feature is the ember catcher which is a metal mesh panel under the grates.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This half inch five-bar steel fireplace grate with retainer was something I was searching for because it is good for regular wood and store bought logs. It can hold four logs easily and screen assist it in burning ninety-five percent of the wood. The steel bars allow for even burning without bending or peeling on this grate while having an flow evenly of heat.

However, the height is too high and the wood constantly falls out of the grate and causes the fire to constantly have to be stoked to keep it burning. Since there is only the bottom row of bars this is where the wood falls out. If there was a top row of metal in the front, this would help to keep the wood in place. Unfortunately, I would not purchase this item a second time.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Product is ok I bought a different fireplace grate from Home Depot for about $20 and that lasted about 3 months before the bars separated and the ember retainer melted. I haven't had this product for a long enough time or had enough fires to accurately provide a rating, but it cost $30 more, so let's hope I get at least 1 year out of it.

It should fit OK side to side with dimensions given. 16 inches front to back should also be OK unless there is a sliding screen in the front that takes up more than a couple of inches.

Measurements of back

If the front is 24 wide, how wide is the back? Why aren't all measurements provided for each grate so we don't have to ask for them. Especially since the width is as important as the depth.

Specifications say this grate is H 6.5 in, W 25.59 in, D 12.5 in, but I am reading any questions and answers that it is almost 36 inches wide?? What is the true width of this fireplace grate?
