Rated 4 de 5 de par so far so good I bought this gun because it was cheap and is rated at a low CFM. FOr years I have used the Campell Hausfield which is rated at 13 CFM for chipping the edge of stucco for patch jobs. Small compressors (1.5 HP) will not keep up. My compressor kept up pretty well (but not completely) so this gun does seem to use less air which is great. It seems a little less powerful though. I've only used it on one job so far and the stucco was not as hard as some. So like I say "so far so good" A few more jobs will give me a better idea.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Seemed well made but large air bleed When I hooked this up to the compressor a large amount of air bled out of the regulator shaft. While the hammer seemed to work okay, the large air bleed kept the compressor running constantly and the air bleed was very annoying when the trigger was not depressed. I imagine that the bleed also reduced the power of the hammer. I assume that there is something faulty with the gun and I will be returning it. I don't have time to wait to have another one to be shipped to me so I have already purchased the Husky air hammer from HD for slightly more money and am satisfied with it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par great buy for the price I used this air hammer to remove tiles that was installed over concrete slab. It made a quick work of tile removal process. It's a light weight and grip is contoured well enough to be comfortable for about an hour of continuous work. That may be because of the gloves that I had on, but that's another review for another day. It is a light duty, so this won't break thick concrete... if you do, i don't see this hammer lasting too long. But what the heck... for this price (less than $14), go buy another one if it breaks!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good for price Another reviewer said this leaked but I think it is supposed to be. I firmly put the chisel into place and gave a pull of the trigger and concrete crumbled. My 6 gallon compressor could hold pressure like this but not holding the trigger down continuous and bouncing all over.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Worked OK except air leak Air Hammer works great, the problem is that it had an air leak at the air adjustment valve. Could not stop the air leak no matter how you adjusted the valve. Called the company, they acknowledged they had a problem with the valve. They instructed me to bring it back to Home Depot.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Failed on third use Stopped working after second use. Just outside of warranty so nothing I can do. Shouldn't have gone with something so cheap.

The speed control takes some getting use to, I was a challenged to start slow but finally got use to it. Also be sure it's assembled correctly and tight and wear eye protection. The spring gets a lot of force every time and it works lose so remember to re-tighten before each use. Got this to break stepping stones into smaller pieces to use in a stone wall. Was too slow so I used a sledgehammer and ended using the air hammer to clean the edges, which was great. This was also used to remove tile flooring out of a bathroom. Removing tile was so much faster than a hand scraper. The tile had been in place for 40 years, it was a bit of a fight but I finished in one day. The air hammer did get warm so I took breaks. This is a good occasional home owner air hammer. Not sure how last long it would last on a job site. Worked perfect for me. The four included chisels are good for small jobs like trimming the stepping stones, but I purchased a separate scraper for the tile floor. Did not come with the 1/4 inch connector for the compressor hose. See the picture for where the air hose connector goes. Worth every penny especially if you're into demo.

Can I use this to remove ceramic tile?

Posée par: TMilller
Yes but it will take long time. I removed the tile in a small bathroom. I would not use it for anything more than that.

Would this work on tile that is laid in a pretty thick layer of thinset? Could this also remove the thinset?

Have some porcelain tile that is in a pretty thick bed of versabond thinset mortar. Would this remove both the tile and thinset? Thanks!
Posée par: JTJT
Yes to both question. This tool is very powerful it can actually cut bricks in half. Keep in mind there are different types of air hammers. The Power Mate has 5000 blows per minute but shorter strokes. The Ingersoll Rand 114GQC air hammer has only 3000 BPM but the stroke of the blows is around 2 1/2 inches. I used both. I could not see a big difference. If you can afford it, I would get the Ingersoll Rand 114GQC.

What kind of air compressor do I need to power that.

Posée par: Monster
I used a small pancake compressor. It ran continuously and at times I had to wait for it to rebuild pressure. It probably was not good for the compressor, but got the job (tile removal in a small bathroom) done.

What is the knob next to the air inlet for?

There is a knurled black metal knob next to the air inlet. What is it for? Speed control?
Posée par: Nick
This knob adjusts how much air gets into the air hammer. You can slow down the blows per minute by reducing how much air gets into the air hammer. I keep it on maximum pressure into the air hammer.
