Rated 1 de 5 de par Temporary Solution at Best I have used these for many years. Unfortunately I have not found I have much choice. My problem with these are that they all need to be replaced within 5 years as the screw fails to hold tight and the threads easily strip on the handle or rod making the handle eventually fail repeatedly. I would love to find ones with threaded holes in the shaft like the original door knobs had so the screw could actually hold onto something instead of just press against the flat surface of the rod.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Looks just like they fit in a Vicorian house I saw these glass door knobs and knew the old rusty metal ones in the house had to go. People always comment on how great these door knobs look, then I tell them they are new manufactured knobs.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Right look for our house We have a 1905 house and needed to replace many of the door knobs including the ones for our French doors. these worked beautifully and now we have the right look for our renovated French doors

Really doubt this is brass, probably should say brass look. Door knobs(both) would not thread onto shaft. Fortunately I had a 3/8" tap to clean up door knob threads, otherwise would have to return. Gave 2 stars because I do not know how well they will work. If I have to re tighten the set screw every month or two I will give it one star.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Love the glass door knobs that is the only thing that would work for the look we were going for They were so hard to get. They were not in stock at our local store. A helpful associate said he would order them for us and get them transfered from another store, it would take about a week, after a week I went to the store to buy them, they did not have hem, I came home and ordered them online. It was a small purchase but I sure had to work hard to get what I wanted.

The directions could be written a little more clearly, it was a little confusing trying to figure out how to get in on at first. If you buy this, you don't push the stem into the chambers of the knobs, you have to screw them in! Other than that, it's well worth the purchase! I would definitely recommend it.

will it do for a passage door to enter a bedroom?

Posée par: Anonyme
This knob is designed ot fit pre 1950 style latch systems where the bore hole on the door is typically only 1" in diameter. It will not fit the 2-1/8" diameter bore that is common in housing built since 1953.

can i use this with my old door knob set?

What I mean is can i use this and just thread the spindle through a door that already has a knob on it? just take out the old knob and put this new spindle and two knobs through it? Will it work that easy?
Posée par: Anonyme
Yes you can do that. It was intended for it to work that way. This knob is for closet doors since it has no lock. Hope that helps.

Have very old door. Glass knob is one-sided, different knob on outside. Old long pull handle on outside. Will this knob work with the old threaded

shaft? No pic avail.
Posée par: s.harrington
This screwed onto old shaft, but beware. Before I could screw on I had to clean female threads(door knob) with a 3/8" tap.

Do these fit new(er) doors?

I've looked & looked but can't find where this question has been asked but do these knobs fit new type doors? I've purchased two of these & I'm wondering if they are going to work with the existing doorknob hardware or if I will need a different set up & if so, what will I need aside from door escutcheons or rosettes?
Posée par: MrsJaxon
I did the same thing. The instructions were basic to say the least, "Remove old knob, replace with new". You have to deconstruct your existing lock set by removing the Knobs on both sides. One side has the rod attached, which must be removed and the spring mechanism which returns the handle and latch. Once all this is dis assembled two problems arose, One: how do you tighten the set screws when they are inside the backplate when assembled and two: how is the return spring mounted when the mechanism that holds it in place is removed when the old knobs are removed. A very poor design. Needs a do over. Bring them back or for fun bring it all in and have them show you how to assemble.

Does this have a back plate/rosette plate

You say it has a mounting plate is this the same as a back plate, without this you would see the whole in the door.
Posée par: poodlelady
There is a set with just two knobs and a rod AND a complete lock set with two knobs, rod, latch, and back plate both have issues. The backplate measures a smidgen under two inches while the common bore on a door is 2 1/8 inches making the plate to small. Also instead of having screws pass through the plate and connecting to the other plate to lock in place, they use wood screws on BOTH plates so even IF the bore was the right size you could not use them.

What is the diameter of the neck of the brass knob?

That is, what size sleeve should a rosette have so it fits snugly? 5/8"? Thank you.

Can these be used as half dummy knobs? What would we need to do?

Can't find anything about dummy knobs.
Posée par: countryhome
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. The E-2536 glass knob kit includes the components as pictured, designed to fit on both sides of a single door panel. These knobs can be used as the dummy knobs you seek, but they would install as a set on one single door. To modify this set for individual use on separate door panels you would need to order an extra spindle (Item no. E-2459), then cut both spindles to the desired length, making sure to leave sufficient thread on both ends of the spindles. Some cutting and filing from both ends of each spindle may be necessary as the center of the spindle is not threaded. Finish with a washer, lock washer and nut. Note: Prior to ordering the E-2536 knob set and the E-2459 spindle, you may first want to look for the nuts with matching thread (3/8”-20) to fit these spindles. You may discover that the 3/8”-20 nuts are a hard-to-find item as it is not a common thread used on our spindles. If the nuts cannot be purchased or ordered from your local Home Depot, you might try at an industrial hardware store. Or, another option would be to cut the spindle from only one end, then thread the opposite end to a common size nut that can be easily found and purchased.
