Rated 5 de 5 de par Great product; easy to use. I bought this Quickrete 10lb patch kit to fill in some cracks, pits, etc in the concrete sub-floor of my condo that I am doing a remodel on before putting down wood floors. It comes in a plastic bag which I removed and used the bucket to mix the concrete with water. A good mix will be about the consistency of a thick cake batter with no clumps and should hold its shape. If your mix is watery you can add more concrete to the mix to get it back to this consistency. I had no trouble using a small trowel to work this product into cracks, pits, etc Dried finish is a light grey. Since I'm covering this with flooring I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the final finish.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for cracks / filling. Easy to work with. Basement was leaking and found the seam between the brick and the sidewalk was cracked in a number of places. Cleaned out old groove, leaving gaps of 5/8" to hairline. Tried some concrete patch that goes in a tube but quickly found out it is for NARROW gaps. The tube stuff is NOT water soluble and was very sticky. Dries VERY quickly. That stuff IS good for NARROW (less than 1/4") cracks, etc. BUT THIS STUFF WAS MY HERO. I had a bucket of this from AT LEAST 10 YEARS AGO. Bought it but never used it! It worked GREAT! Easy to mix. Easy to apply. Could mix it dry (so it's like a paste) or with more water so it settles. Water clean up. I'm going to have a tub of this on-hand from now on!

I bought this with some reserve knowing that patching concrete generally comes with limited success. I followed the instructions and when I was finished I had about a 3" wide seam that ran about 15 feet across my driveway. At first some of the patch seemed to be peeling away which made me think it had failed, but I was wrong. The lower part adhered nicely and it looked good! It filled the crack in my concrete driveway and helped level the spot where the two parts met. I would use it again and recommend it. BTW I bought the 40 lb bag and have about half of it left.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Practical purchase The vinyl cement is a smoother finish then regular cement. I like ti because it dries quicker. I actually used it for a fence post and the post is still standing in place after a couple of years. I've used it for all kind of repairs around the house: anchor iron supports on back porch where the metal rusted; filled in cracks in drive way; filled in tire worn hole at drive way entry; cracks on front porch... I really like it.

I had a crack running all the way across an old cement step and with this patch (and some grinding away uneven surfaces) I was able to create a nice smooth patch. The patcher mixes easily, although follow directions so the mix is not too wet. I found it easy to work into the crack and it trowels out very smoothly. The patch will be distinctly grey, which may not match surrounding concrete, but it will make a very sound patch.

Followed directions, adding 10 oz (carefully measured) to half the powder in the bucket. Heavy to mix and if I had an easy way to measure the powder I would have done a smaller amount. 10 oz of water wasn't enough to thoroughly mix and have it workable, still very gritty at that point. Just a couple more ounces added a bit at a time to get it to the right consistency. Had to be careful because it was easy to go past the ideal point. Directions say not to mix more than you can use in half an hour, I went an hour before I realized it and it was starting to get hard to work with, so half an hour is a good limit to be aware of. Only surprise was that the thicker parts turned white instead of gray, gives it a kind of marble vein look. Been a week and no sign of cracking or spalling.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Concrete Patch I have tried a variety of fixes for my deteriorating side walk and this is by far the best fix. It took some getting used to for mixing, but it went on fast, dried fast and looks good. Only time will tell how long it will last, but it looks good so far. Even did the kids hand prints well. So far I have not had a lot of luck with patching cracks, might take some practice.

It does a really nice job and adheres and holds to where you apply it very well. It does give a rough appearance (that is, it is not 'glass smooth'), but worked well for what I wanted it for and seems to be holding up well. The photo provided shows one of the patches after it has been painted (red boxed area). I will say that for just patching without painting you will be able to see your work, but if you are going to cover it it will be a nice answer to fixing cracks.

can this be used to level off a sinking sidewalk block?

Posée par: BAS1
It can, but I’m not sure of the durability, depending on how large an area and the thickness of the repair. I would use a reinforced cement instead.

I have a interior wood framed wall lined with real brick that is in perfect condition. The mortar is a concave and I want to make it "less concave" closer to flush look - then, paint it all white. I would not call this "repointing" as it is solely appearance only. Could I apply this over the existing mortar to build it out and then paint it?
Posée par: DP07
Although that is an unorthodoxed use of the product, as long as the mortar has not been sealed and any bond breakers (dust, dirt, residue) are removed, QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher can be used to level the tooled joints in your mortar. It may be necessary to slightly roughen then existing joints for a good mechanical bond. Please allow the product to cure for a minimum of seven days prior to painting.

What's the difference between this and the Quikrete Quick-Setting Cement Concrete Mix? There's so many cement mixes, it hard to who which to get.
Posée par: john
The Quikrete quick set differs from this product in that its a “quick setting” mix and so there’s not a lot of time to work it. The Quikrete Quickset is also a harder and more solid product than the Concrete Vinyl Patcher. It sort of depends on what the application is. I can tell you the Quikrete quickset can be frustrating to work with because it sets up so fast but will provide a more durable patch. The Vinyl Concrete patcher is a softer and less durable product and there’s comparatively more time to work and shape it but it’s not going to take a lot of abuse if used for a large patch such as in a driveway. I’ve used the Vinyl Patch for filling cracks in concrete block for example and it worked great for that.

For a driveway crack should I put a backing rod in the crack before filling?

For a driveway crack should I put a backing rod in the crack before filling?
Posée par: Bill
That would be a good idea, depending on the area to be filled. Also try not to do it in the middle of the day when its very hot, you might want to pour water/wet the surrounding concrete to minimize the temperate difference the surrounding concrete pad and the fresh concrete you're patching in.

Can I add liquid cement color to it?

Can I add liquid cement color to it?
Posée par: Nate
Yes, QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher can be used with QUIKRETE® Liquid Cement Colors. Be sure to select a color intended for use with a gray base, as some are designed for use with a product having a white base. Blend the color with the clean mixing water before mixing with the mortar. For a 10 lb. pail, far less than one bottle of Liquid Cement Color will be required. We always recommend trialing a small quantity of the repair material in an inconspicuous area, and allowing it to cure for one week to determine whether the color and overall appearance are acceptable before using the material in less discrete areas.

Is this paintable?

Posée par: Liz
Yes, QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher may be painted with any paint which is designed for use with concrete. Follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions for the length of cure time that is required for the QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher before applying the paint – typical requirements are a minimum of 7 days after application for a water based latex paint, or 28 days after application for an oil based paint. The paint manufacturer’s recommendations supersede these general requirements in the instance of a difference. QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher will not be a color match to the material being repaired. Depending upon the opacity of the paint, the repair may be visible through the paint. You may trial a small quantity in an inconspicuous area to ensure that the color and overall appearance are acceptable.

Will this work for filling saw cuts in a basement floor? I want to lay vinyl plank flooring on a basement floor that has saw cuts for crack control. The cuts are 1/4 wide and 1.5 deep. Should I pack this concrete patch in there or do something different to fill those cuts?
