I have used two of these to replace 5000 series sprinkler heads at our church and they are easy to adjust, much easier than the 5000, especially the left hand stop. These 52SA heads have a slip clutch so you can just crank them to the right position and then adjust the rotation limit. I did not have to replace the entire head, I just unscrewed the top from the base to save the trouble of digging out the dirt around the bottom. The little special Rain Bird screwdriver is very handy.

Highlights include better construction than the plastic counterpart, doesn't require a proprietary tool to adjust (flat head screwdriver), and a better coverage pattern at the immediate radius ("close-in" range) - Not having to replace these every couple of years (as is the case with the models that are entirely plastic) completely justifies the (slightly) higher cost for these units. You won't be disappointed with the overall durability, performance, coverage and construction of these upgraded sprinklers.

Reviewers complaining that these don't throw water far enough may simply not have enough pressure. I'm gradually replacing all of my sprinkler heads with this one because they've been reliable and easy to adjust. I've been using them for about a year and have had no problems with them at all.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Doesn't shoot 50ft, inconsistent stream This sprinkler, at this price, is a total flop. It doesn't shoot anywhere near 50ft. I had a hard time getting it to go 30, and this is in a system with only TWO heads in a smaller yard, so pressure wasn't a problem. The adjustment screws are covered with a useless rubber "protector" that keeps you from seeing the screws. You just have to feel for them with your screwdriver through a tiny slit. While adjusting the radius screw, (have to use an eyeglasses screwdriver; it's a super small screw) trying to get it to shoot anywhere near 40' (only 80% of its advertised max radius), the screw came out and shot across the yard. So now it just shoots a jet of water about 40', not watering anything between it and the 40' outside radius. I'll be replacing this head tomorrow.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Can't get distance adjustment to work I was not able to get nearly the distance of throw listed on the label. I'm ordering the nozzle set so I can try different water rates in the sprinkler. ( the sprinkler head does come with a nozzle set-I misplaced mine.) That may also help with the evenness of water distribution from sprinkler head to end of throw. The sprinkler head does operate very smoothly. I need a greater distance of throw than I'm currently getting.

The 52SA will water out to 50', but, as the description describes does not water between 0-25 ft well when extending the watering to the full range of 50 ft. The "new" 42SA+ does a much better job of watering the entire range from 0-38 ft. even though it 's rated from 26-38 ft.

My only gripe is this: the adjustment screws are hidden beneath rubber flaps and-for some reason-I assumed a Philips screwdriver when, in fact, it needs a flat head. The instructions didn't show one way or the other; I figured this out via youtube.

Hi, how many feet will these shoot when connected to 10GPM, and 3 in one zone, and the psi at my house is 60psi? Just wondering if i could get 35 feet with each sprinkler in that zone. Please let me know asap
Posée par: buildingwithcedar
You should be able to achieve 35 feet, as the nozzle included with each rotor is 3GPM, and 60psi is within the general operating range.

Do these really throw 12" more than the 42SA with the standard 3.0 nozzle? I'm getting the max 38 feet out of my 42SA's but really need closer to the 50' the 52SA are labeled as to hit one corner of my lawn. 10GPM with about 75psi gets me the full 38' with a 42SA, just wanted to know if it was worth the money to get these and if they would truly give me another 12'?
Posée par: SD777x
With a 3 GPM nozzle the 52SA will throw 40 feet up to 65 psi. A higher flowing 8 GPM nozzle is required to throw 50 feet.

is it 50 ft in each direction or 25 in each direction for a total of 50?

Posée par: Justin
50 ft each Direction but the spray pattern is very weak at that range I suggest 15 feet apart because the spray patterns only good about 20 ft

1ST TIME TRYING THESE POP UP'S- USED A WAND FOR YRS LOW WATER WELL PRESSURE ( 30 Psi) I HAVE A 30 FT WIDE X 50 FT LONG DOWNHILL FRONT YARD.. i ASSUME TO RUN MY WATER LINE DOWN ONE SIDE TO 25 ' AND LET IT SPRAY OUT 25 'FT AT 180 DEGREES, RIGHT? THUS WOULD ONLY HAVE TO COVER 25 FT IN ALL 3 DIRECTIONS Or Run the water line down the middle , approx 25 ft, but will only need 15" at both Width sides, but 25ft for the 50% OF THE 50 FT other 2 Long sides.. IS THIS THE CORRECT UNIT TO USE?
Posée par: Veteran
No they don't spray good long distance,20 ft at most to get a decent spray

Does this rotor head come with a nozzle tree (different nozzles with varying rates) or must they be purchased separately?

How many gals per min does this head require?

Posée par: willie
The rotor comes with a #3 nozzle installed. At 45 PSI the flow would require 3.09 GPM. This rotor can function with a flow of 1.35 GPM (gallons per minute) to 8.86 GPM, and a PSI (pressure per square inch) of 35 to 55, where 45 is the optimal pressure. Some of the variance in performance is determined by the nozzle size used with the rotor. Different nozzles can be purchased in the nozzle pack model #4252NZPLK.
