The instruction on back say to hit head with hammer... do NOT do this this, the you ruin the threads and you will be waste all day thinking abou how to remove the nut and anchor. USE a piece of scrap wood opposite of a hammer when inserting it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Solid sleeve anchors that provide a good hold. I installed two of these in cinder block wall (in the area of the block sidewalls and mortar and they held well. I drilled a 1/2" diameter hole and the fit was a bit tight, I would recommend a 9/16" bit, especially if you are screwing the bolt out more than an inch. I used these to secure an old 2x4 shelf bracket to the wall and they worked great.

Rated 1 de 5 de par DO NOT BUY! I would give this item 0 stars if possible; three anchors threads were damaged, three sheared off when tightening with a precision torque wrench. The metal is soft and easily broken; I noticed all the problems after installing them. I am now trying to remove the dang things. So many issues with this item; save yourself the headache.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I drilled & installed one of these in the concrete... I drilled & installed one of these in the concrete washout the foundation crew left me as a test. MAKE SURE you have the nut & washer installed before you hammer it in the concrete. They are a pain to remove if the nut falls off. You can remove them, but it is a PITA. Once you tighten them, they are in there! Which is what you want! In my test I tried to pry, pull, and force it out. Nothing I tried caused them to fail (pull out). So, I'm going back to buy another box of them to anchor the plates down to my slab.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Concrete sleeve anchors Very easy to install. Drill the hole through the plate and into the concrete floor deep enough for the anchor. Insert the anchor and tap it in until the washer bottoms out on the plate. Tighten the nut. Good to go. Secure holding strength.

Rated 1 de 5 de par worst concrete anchors out there.... COBRA brand is far superior... worst concrete anchors out there.... COBRA brand is far superior and costs less. The RED Head brand ware labeled 1/2" x 4" ...but that was the drill hole size. The diameter of the bolt which is the strength of the anchor---was only 3/8" and the nut size corresponded (9/16"). Also no flexibility in depth choice compared to COBRA with a 1/2" bolt and 3/4" nut with the flexibility for different depths and no premature expansion which prevents seating depth and can cause spinning.

Great strong Product Overall very easy and fast to install and fasten yet Sturdy and strong enough to hold down anything (almost anythin) the application I used it for was to drive these 1/2 by 4 in Anchors into cement to hold down 20-25 foot Rack system in a Warehouse that holds over 3,000 pallets of products. Should be able to be used in a wide variety of projects.

I am attaching 2 x 6 header to cinder brick wall of my house for a new deck, should I use the 3" or 4" long sleeve anchors?

Posée par: OceanRockN
Use the 4 or longer. And, by the way, what you're describing is probably a code violation with the updated building codes. Look for the Prescriptive Residential Wood Deck Construction Guide for details.

I need to attach my piece of wood to a brick column. Do I drill into the mortar joint or directly into the brick?
Posée par: WoodtoBrick
Hi, we would recommend drilling directly into the brick for a more secure hold. If you have any other questions please contact customer service at 877-489-2726, thank you!

Im using these to anchor 4x4 post bases to concrete outside. Will these hold up well or should I look for something else to use?

Posée par: Zee
The anchors are fine, if the brackets you are using are for fencing, If it is a patio cover or gazebo I would use a higher grade bracket which allows for a hex through bolt to hold the 4 x 4 . Mike

In the video that is shown above for installing this item, after the person drills the hole, he uses another drill bit to clean out the hole. It's like a drill bit with a narrow wire brush on it. What is that item? And why doesn't that come up in the "People who bought this item also purchased....." list? It should come as a suggested add-on for this item.
Posée par: LewisLandscapeServices
Have never used the item (or seen it in stores). Spouse saw me laboring with an old 1/2" drill and bought me a Bosch 8 Amp Corded 1 in. SDS-Plus Bulldog Xtreme Variable Speed Rotary Hammer with Auxiliary Handle and Carrying Case. The SDS tool system had extra fluting to remove chaff, and what was left - I vacuumed with a pencil snout on my shop-vac

what size bit?

Am I correct in assuming one would use a 1/4 inch masonry drill bit to install these? Thanks in advance, Ginahere
Posée par: ginahere
for the 1/2" anchor - use the recommended 1/2" bit on the package. I have a Bosch SDS system, so bought the 1/2" SDS bit. My spouse saw me laboring too much so bought the Bosch 8 Amp Corded 1 in. SDS-Plus Bulldog Xtreme Variable Speed Rotary Hammer for me :)

Can these be used in ACQ pressure treated lumber?

Can these be used in ACQ pressure treated lumber?
Posée par: Mark
Some fasteners can corrode when combined with certain treated lumber. Note that treated lumber comes in structural and non-structural (for fences, etc.) varieties. Check with your recommendations from your metal connector provider (like, Strong-Tie). I ignored this once - had to rebuild 5 years later (have got to enjoy ignorance and building in the same breath) Be good to yourself - build for the future of yourself and family (or that family that will buy your place). ~Jillian

what is the recommended max weight one can hold?

Posée par: andy
The performance of the 1/2 in. x 4 in. Red Head Sleeve Anchor depends on the depth of embedment and the material you are fastening into. For more information, please see the performance tables on our website (www.itwredhead.com) or contact our Customer Service Department at 1-877-489-2726.
