Rated 1 de 5 de par Disappointed with overall Ridgid quality This driver was a disappointment in a long line of Ridgid tool disappointments. It started to lose power, to the point that it took 10-15 seconds to drive a 3” screw, then all of a sudden there was a pop, a flash from inside and smoke towered out. Dead tool. Service center wrote it off and two months later I’m still waiting for the replacement to arrive. Had nearly the exact same issue with the octane compact router, the main gear in the octane job max that engages the heads broke (why such an important part is made of plastic can be no other reason than cost savings), octane hammer drill chuck tightens itself so much I have to put vice grips on it to get it off, octane circular saw blade guard broke, and so far I’ve had the side metal tabs on two batteries break off on removing them from a tool. This is all less than 2 years of infrequent use…will certainly not be purchasing into this line any further, unfortunately I’m already deep in their octane line…which now seems to be getting phased out.

Rated 5 de 5 de par So quiet!! I was skeptical at first when I was reading other reviews talking about how quiet this impact driver is. I couldn't believe it when I first used this, it is ridiculously quiet! I mean, I used it to screw 3" framing screws into 2x4 walls in a basement and it hardly made a sound.. It has all the power of a traditional impact driver but it is so much quieter! I didn't realize I had forgotten to wear my earplugs until the job was almost finished...

Rated 4 de 5 de par Big power in a big tool So let's make it clear, this hydraulic impact driver is huge, heavy and bulky. But it come with a huge another off power that our every other impact to shame. Very quiet, it's perfect for cabinet Makers.

Rated 5 de 5 de par unreal! I couldnt be happier with this new impulse driver. it doesnt vibrate the entire deck like ordinary impact drivers. Until you use this one, you will not actually realize how loud impact drivers are. its great for everything, really, but in places like under cabinets and in closets where noise could get your ears ringing, its perfect. my friend and i did a test with his red Mil driver, and this Ridgid impulse driver drove deck screws faster, gentler, more silent, and with more precision (the trigger is delightfully precise.) I've had this for over a year now, and i actually cant use ordinary impact drivers again. (I've tried.)

Rated 5 de 5 de par Ridgid made a mistake Yes, Ridgid made a mistake, but it wasn't this incredible tool! Their mistake, IMHO, was the way they chose to under advertise this machine's different strengths. Yes it is slightly heavier than other older technology but the same as other brands using this Hydraulic tech. The tool has vastly more power than other tools even in the 18v class, and when you are using it daily the reduced noise level will lessen the cost of hearing aids in later life. I just wish Ridgid would make this with a 1/2" chuck because there are way more drill bit sizes available without the speed shaft than with it.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Overall a good buy I had the Rigid X4 impact driver which I burned out drilling out holes in a cherry stump. My fault obviously but I now needed a replacement. I bought this driver based on the stated noise level as the X4 was a bit loud and I figured I'd upgrade. I mostly have Rigid tools but did look at Dewalt as well. The Dewalt is quite a bit lighter as another reviewer posted but it was also about $339.00 (with charger and battery) if I recall correctly. I tested this tool driving screws just to see what it would do and I tried all 3 speed settings. 3 "is" a bit fast and it can bounce out of the screw possibly stripping it but as long as you're applying pressure it just does just fine. 2 is probably the overall best speed so you can keep an eye on the depth so you don't sink the screw head too far. The impact itself is quite a bit different than the X4...the X4 does a really rapid ratcheting sound where this driver almost sounds like the motor is just sort of applying torque in bursts to drive the screw. It's hard to describe but it's very quiet. The only noise it really seems to make is from the motor and not from the impact so pretty comparable to any non impacting driver. As another reviewer noted you will not damage your hearing and can you could use it later into the evening without annoying anyone. I also tested this on my persistent cherry stump and this driver seems to have a lot more power than the x4, but I think it's just due to the way it impacts. At any rate it was very quick to chew through the stump. I used a spade bit that has a threaded drill tip which of course pulls the bit faster and deeper into the wood than a normal spade bit and it did not bog down at all...like not even little. I tested this on all 3 speeds and all were fine, but of course 3 was very fast. Minus one star for weight.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Disappointing I bought this drill and returned it the same day. My Home Depot doesn't have the drill on display so I couldn't hold it before buying it. It is way too large and heavy. It's even heavier than my x5 driver. While dewalt is making better and smaller ridgid is making better but larger and heavier tools. I must have close to 100 ridgid tools. I therefore don't want to switch to dewalt because it would cost me a fortune to replace all my tools. I am sad to say that Dewalt is miles ahead of the competition.

Rated 5 de 5 de par The next progression in Impacting I bought this around mid-May and have been using it daily since. Disclaimer: I bought and used the x4 5 piece Ridgid Kit, and bought and currently use the Gen5x kit, along with other Ridgid tools like the Hybrid Fan as well as this, the Stealth. As a plumber, I use all five pieces of my five piece kit daily. This has completely replaced my impact, both the x4 and the Gen5x. I used to have to put earplugs in/muffs on when doing any extended impacting; this may include spade bits, fastening coach screws or hangermates, sinking 4" screws for backing, etc etc. It works not only much quieter, but also faster. Head to head comparisons show it working so well, that it actually almost strips heads of screws and overtightens fasteners in the "3" setting. I usually leave it set to the "2" setting unless I am cinching Victaulic / driving Coach screws + hangermates / etc. Pairing this tool with the 5amp battery, it's unstoppable. I would think the 1/4" bit would break long before the drill wouldn't turn. Regarding the -10Db rating, this drill negates the need for any hearing protection. People on my crew specifically ask to use the drill when they know they're in a tight area / parkade / fastening metal to metal [sprinkler systems etc] and have mentioned they wish Makita / DeWalt / Bosch make a similar tool, as they don't want to switch systems but just might. Milwaukee does make a version of this; this makes sense as Ryobi, Ridgid and Milwaukee are owned by TTI Corporation. It makes sense they tried out the hydraulic technology on the Ridgid brandline before asserting it in the Milwaukee brandline. I don't have to recommend it on site, it speaks for itself. However there are the few and far between that go, "So? It's quieter? And a bit stronger? That's it?" So... yea.
