Rated 4 de 5 de par Drills through Rock like Butter I skeptically bought the cordless 1" SDS after growing frustrated with the chuck on my hammer drill (different manufacturer) constantly coming loose when trying to drill a 1" hole through a masonary wall. One word - WOW! It tackled a a previous 10-minute job (drill-tighten bit, drill, repeat) with a normal hammer drill in less than 2 minutes. Next job I tackled was drilling 1" holes into granite boulders to break with Dexpan. The SDS drill burrowed 12" deep hole after hole after hole into the granite boulders like they were butter - all without the squeal you might hear with a hammer drill & large masonary bit. The only signs that the bit showed of having done any work was just a little dust. The only frustration I experienced was having to change out 4AH batteries during the job. This may not have happened if I had 9AH batteries on hand. Overall I'm thrilled with the SDS drill.

First use was to cut a few giant holes through our block crawl for a new drain and water lines, worked like a champ especially paired with a 9aH octane battery. Drilled 8-10 5/8" holes and followed up in chisel mode, completely blew my HVAC guys corded tool away. The anti vibration handle worked really well, no tingly hands after running the tool for about 40 minutest straight (on ONE battery!)

I install mini split heat pumps and need to drill six 4" deep by 5/8" holes into concrete to mount the support bracket. I use this drill with an Octane 9Ah battery and it only goes down to 3 lights on the battery after I'm done. I had previously used a Bosch corded SDS Plus drill and this one is at least as fast, and I think faster than the Bosch. It's also about half the length of the Bosch so it fits into smaller spaces.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Works good for what I need it for. I don't use this drill for everyday use. Generally 3/8 fasteners, and other holes under 3/4". It's nice to go up on a lift or extension ladder, and not have to compete with a cord. It works great for that. You definitely need to run the 4 amp hour battery if you want any kind of endurance. If I needed to lean on one all day I would splurge on a Hilti, but if you don't this one certainly fits the bill nicely.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Rotor Hammer Worked great for maybe a year or so. I've had to take it in twice, and it's not working again. At this point, I'm not sure if it's even worth sending back again. I love the rest of my Ridgid lineup, and had to get this when it came out, but this rotor hammer was a severe disappointment

It is well built but the 12 volt system just doesn't have the power to do large holes in concrete, block and brick unless you are drilling one hole. I would drain the battery doing one hole in brick over block. I purchased the Rigid Brushless SDS Plus drill. It was an overstock sale so I picked it up. I drilled 9 holes in the same material and used the same battery on the impact driver to attach the fasteners in concrete. The battery is still on 3 out of 4 LEDs.

This tool with multiple Batteries ranging from 9ah down to 2ah worked extremely well in a very tough tile demo for 8hrs a day in chisel mode and the weight of this machine made it very easy to use during the 8hrs we worked it. The bad: we needed multiple Batteries to continue working with lots of charging during the work day.

I have a solid granite boulder the size of a VW Beetle that I need to break into smaller pieces. Would this drill be suitable for this type of a job and if yes, please recommend a bit. I think that I will need to drill 100+ 1" holes x 12" deep. Please recommend any alternatives.
Posée par: Craig
If I were buying a tool specifically for that job, I think i'd go with a corded rotary hammer drill, and possibly even just buy something cheap from Harbor Freight that you could take back if/when it breaks. I think you'd go through a lot of batteries using this drill. I really like this drill for smaller jobs, but it might not be your best option here.

I tried to order a replacement handle and was told it was discontinued, Auxiliary Handle Assembly Part #: 204916001. Is that true?

My job requires a tool like this to have a vacuum attached to the drill. Does this have a vacuum?

Posée par: Dave
Ridgid does not have vacuum attachment. But I think Bosh has attachment which will fit this hammer drill and can work with any vacuum.

On the web site if you order this hammer drill you get a battery and charger correct? What size of battery do you get? When you go to order no signs of getting either item, want to know if you do or not before ordering.

Posée par: buckattack
This is tool only.  All my tools are Ridgid so I have chargers and batteries to use with this hammer drill.  I use the 4A batteries with no problems whatsoever.  Drilled 1,100 holes 5” deep in one day with 2 of these drills, only note is they will have issues with hard concrete.

What size of holes does this have potential of drilling and how deep would it drill? Example drilling holes for frost free hydrants at 12" to 16" deep.

Posée par: buckattack
All my bits are 18" and up to 1" diameter. I have gone through a block wall with a 1" bit in less than 2 minutes. Drill though a 70+ year old foundation wall (9" thick) with a 5/8 bit in under 4 minutes. It's so good I sold my Bosch corded rotary 1-1/8 and now just use this one. It's not used daily (either was the Bosch) but not needing the ext cord and taking it up on scissor lifts is so much better and safer!!!
