Rated 5 de 5 de par A Gift from Ridgid Thank you Ridgid for standing behind your lifetime warranty. I sent them a 20 gal vac where the bearings had worn out around the motor shaft. It cost me $16 to return the motor head to Ridgid for inspection. Since they no longer have a 20 gal I was interested in seeing what they would send me on a 16 gal. My 20 gal had 2 1/2" connectors. The newer 16 gal units have 2 choices. Smaller 1 7/8" connectors and the 2 1/2" on this vacuum I am reviewing. Ridgid did the right thing and gave me the better vacuum plus an extra filter to cover my shipping costs to them. Great warranty and great service. I had the replacement vacuum in less than weeks.

Rated 3 de 5 de par One issue to watch for.... After owning this model for a while the suction really dropped off. Changing the filter and making sure the hoses were tight did not improve things. It literally couldn't pick up a leaf off the cellar floor. I took off the impeller housing (8 screws or so) and found the problem. The unit was unplugged by the way - Do the same. There was a section of foam that was jammed in the exhaust port. This foam was apparently glued around the impeller circumference to reduce noise. When the adhesive failed it was blown into the exhaust port blocking airflow. I just tossed it, re-assembled it and all was fine. Hope this helps the next guy. Otherwise I like the unit.

Rated 5 de 5 de par shibby I live in a 110 yr. old house with a fieldstone foundation, and have had several issues with seepage, aging cast-iron, flaking paint, etc., and I needed a wet/dry vac to spare my 'upstairs' vac from the rigors of the basement. I decided to go with this super capacity one because the sump pump sometimes gets overwhelmed during heavy spring rains like we had last year, and this one can function as a backup pump until I can replace the too-small sump. I've been very happy with it so far. It is powerful, reasonably quiet, and picks up everything I've pointed it toward. If you live in an old house, this is a great 'just-in-case' piece of equipment.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good Vac I bought this vac nearly a year ago for a major house remodel. I bought this vac because of the build. The lataches are strong thick plastic that are hinged and snap shut. Other vacs have flimsy tabs that I could see breaking easily. The vac is great. It is not too loud and has great suction. You do have to clean the filter alot to keep good suction. Overall, I would def buy this vac again if it were gone tomorrow. Also, the lifetime warranty thing is a no brainer. If for no other reason I want to reward a company who is at least trying. Havn't had to use it yet but at least you will have a fighting chance when something breaks.

Rated 5 de 5 de par quietly sucks!! This is the quietest shop vac I have ever owned or used. It's also one of the, if not the most powerful shop vacs I've used. I can hold a conversation over it while cleaning the garage and not think twice. As far as the wheel axle caps, they're the same thing that many manufacturers use to hold wheels on, and work quite effectively. Pro tip: Thread the axle, put both wheels on, press both caps on until they stick, lay the vacuum drum on it's side and use a hammer to tap the caps on. Doing so will seat both caps, but turn the vacuum 180 and tap the other cap. Done and done. Takes 30 seconds. I couldn't be happier with this vacuum.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Love this Vacuum I've had another brand in the past. I need this product to clean a fountain which is surrounded by a aggregate stone walkway. My previous unit's small wheels couldn't glide over the walkway so I had to lift a full reservoir of water from the fountain to my driveway over and over again to complete the job. With the Rigid, it has a bigger capacity (so it holds more water) and the large wheels allow me to effortlessly roll the full tank to my driveway. If that wasn't good enough, I appreciate the quick drain valve at the bottom of the Rigid. This product saves my back and helps me clean my fountain more efficiently.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great suction, relatively quiet-very happy! I was very surprised at how much suction this thing had, it wanted to stick to the floor as I was cleaning it. It swallowed up the big leaves and debris littering the front doorway and cleaned the garage floor in a snap. I pull it along with the hose and it rolls and follows nicely. I haven't tried it on the car yet but I noticed that I will have to buy a brush attachment for it as it didn't come with one. The storage bag is handy and there's even a place on top to wrap the cord. As far as vacuums go, this one is very quiet, not loud, shrill or in any way annoying. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very good vac I did online research before buying a vac. I was looking for lots of CFMs at a reasonable price. I settled on this model even though I was concerned about manuverability since this model has large, fixed wheels on the rear. It turns out that this is not an issue at all. The vac has excellant pickup power and is very quite during operation. I give it a thumbs up in the single fan category and would recommend it for any wood working shop. It lives up to its rave reviews and deserves to be at the top of the single fan class. My only recommendation for improvement is if they would offer a 20+gal model since I do lots of heavy duty planing.

Is there a vacuum bag to fit this unit?

Posée par: IM70
Yes, there sure is. I use the vacuum bags when sucking up fine stuff like drywall dust or other dusting jobs. I also used it to suck lead paint chips, but I was wearing the appropriate respiration mask too. It is also recommended by me to get the 5-layer HEPA allergen filter, which is a bit expensive, but worth it if you have allergies like I do, and it ensures that the air coming out the exhaust is clean without a noticeable loss in suction. I use the included filter in the garage/basement and the HEPA filter in the house. You get two vacuum bags per package, and they're usually in stock at the store, and always in stock on the web site.

How to get nut cap on the axle.

Posée par: Ratlady47
The black plastic pieces that the rear wheel axle goes through slide off the main body(you have to screw these down when you get it). Just line everything up and slide it off. Then attach the axle caps with a hammer per instructions. Attach all of it back onto the main body and screw it into place.

Is it safe to vaccum out a hot tub of water?

Posée par: LJMC
As long as you connect to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Be aware the when filled to capacity, it becomes very heavy and may be difficult to move on uneven surfaces.

Wand Storage

Posée par: Mark
There is a hanging bag for the handle, but I prefer to just store the wands elsewhere. You'll find that this vacuum is so rugged that the wants just get in the way when stored on the vacuum itself. I'll sometimes tuck one into the handle, but for the most part I leave them on the shelf.

Can part of the vacuum be disassembled so that it will fit in a suitcase? I will be traveling from the States to Lima, Peru!

Posée par: Palito
Howdy, I would say no. The parts are too big.

Can it be used to pick up blown in insulation

Posée par: Cora
Yes. It will pick up blown-in insulation but the volume of the canister will limit the volume that can be collected before emptying the canister. It would work well to clean up a small amount of insulation material but it will not compress the insulation so it does not seem like a good solution if you need to remove a large amount.
