I have had mine for about 10 years and it never let me down. My model number is exactly the same as the one listed above. This machine is a good buy for the money. Do not, however, rely on the limited lifetime warranty, as Ridgid does not have replacement parts for it. E-mails sent to Ridgid went unanswered by them. After market parts distributors list this machine and offer a parts list , but most parts are listed as obsolete and no longer available. I needed to replace the floor base as mine was broken by the moving company during a move. The movers paid for repair cost, but I could not find the part. I had to have one welded together with steel plate and angle iron.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great addition to my growing Ridgid shop I was able to assemble in about an hour. I was able to left the head unit on by myself, maybe shouldn't have. Half of the time was spent cleaning the packing crud off of the parts, I guess it needs that to not rust when stored and shipped. It assembled perfectly square out of the box. Runs smoothly and fairly quiet. The key-less chuck i'm not so sure about, but will give that some time. Only a couple of negatives; the light could be better and the crank for the table movement needs a sleeve over it to allow for easier movement, both fairly minor.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Rigid 15" drill press The drill came packaged in a cardboard box with two large Styrofoam partitions. All of the parts were in good shape but the Styrofoam was broken up. It did it's job in protecting the contents. Assembly was simple and straightforward. A little help from the wife was necessary when mounting the headpiece. The drill works well. I've used it on a couple of projects and so far have no complaints. The only issue I have is with the base of the drill. For some reason all drill manufacturers follow the same basic design and provide a fairly small base. While reasonably stable, they tend to fail to compensate for less than level floors. I would really like to see a new base design that would provide some leveling capability and perhaps enhance mobility.

After unboxing the drill the motor fan cover and motor fan were dented in so the fan hit the cover when running. The fan is made of plastic, and the cover made of very thin sheet metal. I asked about getting replacement parts shipped and was told that they can't and I would need to re-box and return the entire machine to the store, which is heavy to do for one person and a waste of my time. This is for a classroom and my students will have to use a DIY repaired new machine since Ridgid can't mail two light-weight replacement parts.

This drill press doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but if you want a basic well made very sturdy machine at a decent price this is it. All the cast iron is well made, heavy, and well machined. It has a good chuck, heavy duty pulleys etc. I'm a retired packaging engineer and would like to make some written recomendations for improvements directly to the manufacturer on that issue. No parts were lost or damaged and it wouldn't take much to provide a top notch presentable package rather than something that was barely hanging together with multiple retaping jobs along the way. Drill press very good for what it is, package needs work.

Rated 5 de 5 de par GREAT PRESS for the Buck! This is my first NEW drill press that I've bought. I sold my last one I bought used because we moved. So I decided to buy me a new Drill Press. It was delivered in good time/fashion. It's heavy, and it works great for my needs. I've added ( highly recommended ) a mobile base and it has come in handy MORE times I can explain as I have a tight space so moving it around was a must. Only thing I wish it had but not a great big deal is a Laser. The LED light is great, ( wish it had a few settings for stronger light when really needed). I've also added a digital caliper for depth stop. (aftermarket gadget). All in all for the PRICE this drill press satisfies my needs in a busy guitar shop.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Buying Ridgid tools is about the lifetime warranty For this item and heavy items i would recommend opening the box at the store and check for damage, the first one came with the spindle broken, din't noticed until after assembly, (returned) the second one came with the table crank lever broken, not returning it will live with it!

Is this unit sturdy without being bolted to the floor? Or, does it need to be bolted for safety from tip-over?
Posée par: smwarren2
I bought this press a couple years ago for the previous shop I worked in. I opted to not bolt it down and it was never a problem. I had some pretty heavy/thick steel on the table and it never offered to move or tip. I was very pleased with this drill press. If my personal one ever dies I will replace it with one of these.

"Inserter"? It's a loose part in the box with no mention that I can find in the directions. What gives?

Loose part in box...
Posée par: GojiraDirtbag
FIGURED IT OUT...I think... The "inserted" term I used was based upon a schematic I found online which gave the piece I am referencing that specific name. It appears to be a "knock out tool" for removing the keyless chuck.

Does this press have variable speed?

Posée par: Paul
The motor isn’t variable speed but it does have many different speed options by changing the belts to the different pulleys.

Does this Drill Press have a Laser guide?

Posée par: Jason780
No it dose not, Im not sure of what value it would be on a drill press. I have never seen one on the many drill presses I have used.
