They get rid of bubble level, lighting plug, which is not a deal breaker, but worst the chuck cannot hold any bit under 1.3 mm anymore. It will not tight anything below 1.3 mm and i don’t understand why they did this. The old chuck was holding thin hair bit, not the new one, so for me this is useless drill, returned and buy different. I just want to let Ridgid know how they made a great product useless for me may be others. The good part they increased rpm from 2500 to 2700rot/min.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent 3/8 in corded drill A couple of my 30 year old power tools wore out at the same time on my current project including a Black and Decker 3/8 in drill. Decided on the Rigid 3/8 in drill based on my past experience with the Rigid brand of power tools and customer reviews. It has plenty of torque and power, is nicely balanced, and I really like the magnets on the top of the drill to hold screws, Much of my current project required working on a ladder and I was able to keep quite a few screws on the top of the drill which was a real time saver. This drill was everything I expected and I am very satisfied with it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I owe my floors to this drill I've been thoroughly impressed with the Ridgid brand of tools. After the cordless 14V drills gave up and couldn't handle driving the large screws to secure our subfloor, I decided to go with this Ridgid corded drill. I'm no powertool guru, and was a little skeptical about purchasing the 6.5A drill, not knowing if it would sufficiently drive and countersink the 3" screws we were using on the old and dense 12x12 floor joists of our house. This drill performed like a charm and it has the power to perform. Any issues with driving large screws into dense wood of an older house were completely eliminated. This drill is definitely worth it.

Got it to build a deck and felt my cordless drill just wouldn't cut it... I needed more power. I didn't want anything too heavy, but still had to have enough power. This worked great! No problems and easy to use. Would have liked to have had it with a built-in level for one particular part of my construction, but I managed without it. Initially, thought the case was a little flimsy, but actually the simplicity of the case allowed me to throw my drill bits in, too. Worked out okay.

I bought this Ridgid R70011 drill at home depot today after my Black & Decker keyed chuck corded 3/8 drill gave up the ghost yesterday after only sixty years (!!) I wondered about the keyless chuck and stood there for ten minutes pondering and finally decided to give it a try. I read some reviews tonight which complained about drill bits slipping with this keyless chuck so I gave it my toughest test tonight, drilling a small pilot hole through a piece of steel strap, then taking a larger drill bit to enlarge the hole. This procedure used to cause a keyed chuck to 'catch' and slip, but the R70011 keyless passed the test with no problem. I assume the guys who complained about the slipping are aware of the 'ratcheting' feature built into the R70011 keyless chuck ?? This drills' a keeper, five stars.

The drill is powerful, but the drill bit won't stay in the drill (which has a key-less chuck) when I try to pull the bit out. Reversing the drill helps, but it's a pain to pause, flip the reversing switch, extract the bit, and then reverse again to continue with the next operation. I don't know if it's because the key-less chuck exterior is plastic, but my previous DeWalt drill (which was all metal) didn't have this problem when it was new. I'm hoping the lifetime warranty will make this drill worthwhile in the long term.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good stuff! Bought this to replace cordless, with a dead battery. Recommended by store associate. Great purchase. Works like a charm. As a DIYer who only uses this occasionally, we decided that we didn't REALLY needs a cordless drill. It was a good price and we hope to use it for many years.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Poor design Drills okay, but there's no way to clip it onto a belt and no hole to attach a hook to it. This dooms it to a troubled life of being absent from the tool belt when needed and falling off ladders on a frequent basis! In exchange for the traditional belt hook, it's got a magnetic panel that grabs onto every ferrous item in the vicinity, whether you want it to or not. The soft-shell case looks nice, but it's not even form-fitted to the drill's shape, so it flops around inside, grabbing loose items such as drill bits onto its magnetic panel. In short, drilling is good, usability is very poor!

Perhaps I'm asking a stupid question, but what is the largest diameter drill bit that this drill can handle? Can it accommodate a 1/2" drill bit?
Posée par: julie
Hi Julie, This drill has a 3/8" chuck so the drill bit shank can not be larger than 3/8". Thanks for asking. Greg

is it reversable

Yes, it is reversible and if you click on the "Use and Care Manual" it will tell you that it is reversible as well.

Does this drill reverse.

Posée par: slick
Yes. If you view the item on Home Depot's web site, there is a close-up of the trigger area. You can see the forward-reverse switch, it is a black lever just above the trigger and below the little directional arrow (embossed on the orange drill body).

How good is the chuck? All the keyless new drills are not very good at holding small drill bits. Hate a drill that lets the drill bit spin instead of drilling.
Posée par: Tinknocker
Hi Tinknocker, With a keyless chuck you want to close the bit in the chuck and lock it in place with out squeezing the trigger. If you squeeze the trigger and hold the chuck to lock it down you are not getting enough pressure on the chuck and it will actually looses as you use it. If the bit slips it could be this reason it happens or it is too small for the chuck to hold. Hope this helps? Greg

How does this compare to a wireless 18 volt drill?

Posée par: Isacc
Hi Isacc, Depending on the model of 18v drill. The power and runtime would be the main advantage for corded drills. Thanks for asking. Greg

variable speed

One of the reviewers stated that this drill was not variable speed. I noticed it said "maximum" speed was 2700 rpm but nowhere in the specifications did it say that it was variable speed. Is it variable speed?
Posée par: cj
Yes. I checked out the owner's manual at the website site and the drill does have variable speed...based on the pressure placed on the trigger.
