Rated 5 de 5 de par Very well built, easy one hand operation. I've never owned a compact router, and almost always go to my big kit Dewalt. I was recently building a planter box, and pulled out this router over the Dewalt. At first I thought I got a bad unit. What I did not notice is that the router plate has a smaller diameter hole for the router bits, and attempting to lower the base plate was binding on the plexi plate. I moved to a smaller OD router bit and problem solved. That is a bitter sweet issue, but with the smaller motor it makes sense to limit the size of the bit to ensure long service life on the motor. Very sturdy, and easy to raise and lower the depth. Much quieter than my larger router.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Trim Router I purchased this trim router to complete the instalation of laminate countertops for my kitchen. I also used it to mortise hinges on doors I installed in my house. It worked perfectly. Just the right size for the job. The quality of this tool (as with any Ridgid tools I've ever owned and/or used) is first rate. VERY well built and designed. Plenty of power and very easy to set up and use. My only complaint is that buying this tool in store (instead of online) you don't get the free 1/4 sheet sander. I am VERY pleased with this tool and would recommend this tool to anyone looking for a high quality, easy to use trim router.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great little router I bought this router to handle the small jobs and because of the great warranty. I originally purchased the Colt but decided I liked the clear base and light on this Rigid tool. I like being able to see the workpiece. The router has plowed right through everything I've thrown at it. I've been reasonable in my expectations and have only done limited depth dados, grooves and kerf cuts in multiple passes. I have also put decorative ogee edges on 3/4" shelves without any problems. It's easy to change out bits by just removing the base. I can't figure out how to collect the dust yet. A good little tool...it's actually made it hard for me to pull out the big router. I just like the size and ease of using this little guy.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great little router This may be a laminate trimmer but I use it for everything. I build cabinets, picture frames, desks and everything else i can think of and this little router is a gem. 1st its variable speed and i use a lot of oak, purple heart and maple.it cuts threw them with ease. 2nd all the power that i need for trim and edging. i dont have to bring out my big boys and change the collet to 1/4 inch so it saves me time. 3rd and this is cool,it comes with and edge guide, its not an order later option and it works great and is sturdy. All i can say is if you want to save time and need a good 1/4 inch router buy this one it replaced a gorbage pc with collet problems and im not looking back.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Collet Issues I received the router as a gift 4 years ago. Due to illness I didn't get to use it until about a year and a half later. When I started using the router I really liked it. It was only used for lite duty as intended. After about 50 to 70 feet of cuts using mostly flush trim bits the collet started loosing hold onto the bit, letting it creep out and ruining the work piece. This is the first router I have ever had to fail in this manner and I have been using routers in woodworking for 40+ years. It's a nice looking little machine, lite, has some good attachments and came in a nice hardshell case, but if it won't hold the bit, It's useless. Sorry for the low rating. Just being honest

I have a regular size Porter Cable router and a Dremel but nothing that quick and easy work. I didn't have a lot of experience with routing but needed to route some flush edges on a workbench I am building. After unboxing I had this tool up and running in less then 5 minutes. I was able to flush trim and them put round over edge on a bottom of my 4' x 8' workbench and then used another bit to create a nice edge a shelf holding the air compressor that was added to the workbench. Bit changes and depth adjustments are quick and easy. It is not too loud but hearing (and eye) protection are still recommended.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I bought this as my second router to do some final work on an oak bookcase I am building my wife.... I bought this as my second router to do some final work on an oak bookcase I am building my wife. I used it for the first time today to route a 1/4" round over on both the top and bottom of the front and side edges of a 3/4" solid oak board. The router worked like a champ. Finely adjusting the depth of cut is much easier than with my big Dewalt router. The router comes with a nice durable soft case that seems like it will hold up very well. The key to any router is to use good quality, sharp bits. I prefer Freud brand and with this router, the bit did not bog down or stall. I am very glad to have bought this router and would recommend it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great little tool. My big router is going to collect dust... Whether you buy this router or another brand, get one of these little routers. Definitely not just for trimming laminate. Full fledged router that fits in the palm of your hand. I mostly use 1/4" bits with pilot bearing to put round-over or 45 deg on edge of board. Or shallow cuts for hinges. This little router does all that and SO much easier than balancing a heavy router, tipping and gouging the edge of your work. I chose the Rigid for the LED light, clear base plate, wide visibility and quick adjust. I almost passed because of the switch location, but having used it for 1 week, now I really like it. The switch is on top and up/down (vs. a thumb rocker) so you can easily whack the top with your hand, your hip, or whatever to turn it off. Again...don't know why I didn't buy one of these sooner. My bigger router is going to collect more dust than it's going to make. Great little unit and a full fledged power tool.

Could this router be used to put a 45 degree edge on deck top cap railing?

I have a deck that was built recently which was left with squared railing top caps. I would like to cut a 45 degree edge so it matches my new fence also. I thought rather than removing & cutting on a table saw I might be able to use a compact router instead?
Posée par: Mcgyver210
Rather than routing the entire rail, why not put a straight edge guide, cut each side of the rail with a power saw and then route the last few inches. If not I would suggest using a full power router. This is a 'trim' router for finish work, not taking a 45 off 2x material. Now if your only 45ing say a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch probably no problem, just take it easy. Were talking a small router here

Can this router be mounted on a table?

Posée par: Noob2theWoodWorking
Yes....sort of.....any router can be mounted to a table. It may take a little engineering but it could be done. Frankly I would recommend a full size router for that application. They generally have more power and bigger bases, most tables were designed with them in mind.
