Rated 4 de 5 de par Good tool but.... I work for a company that remodels kitchens and baths. This saw is great for lighter demo work, taking out drywall, cutting out plastic, copper pipe, cutting out cabinets, cutting screws and nails. You can hold on to the pipe or wood or whatever while cutting so it doesn't fall and damage tile, etc. There are two things to watch out for. It's not very powerful, you should have a full size sawzall to take down walls, decks etc. Also, as stated in another review here, the brushes wear unevenly and prematurely. But because brushes are cheap and easy to find and replace I still gave it 4 stars.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent for Pruning I have 25 citrus trees that are a hassle to keep tidy. Loppers can work to a point, but with bigger branches it turns into a struggle. Also, after a while the loppers are tiring. Answer: This saw! It's way better than using the bigger reciprocating saw that I have because of its ease of use. It's also superior to the lopper solution. You can use this saw for a long time. It's true that if you are cutting a branch that's 2" in diameter, it takes a little while. But the vast majority of my pruning is less than than that. Other than heavier duty demolition work, I imagine I will be using this much more than my bigger recip saw. Very pleased indeed, Mortimer.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Tough job cutting metal in a small space I had a danting job of removing a 35 year old trash compactor from my cabinet after having travertine tile installed. I kicked myself for not doing it before but now I had to figure out how to do this. I must say they don't make appliances the way they did 35 years ago either. I had to cut through some thick steel frame on the compactor to cause it to buckle enough to get it out. It took about 15 cuts in less then 10 inche wide space to get it out but the saw performed outstandingly. This didn't involve cutting wood just heavy gauge metal. This isn't my first Ridgid product and it isn't going to be my last. Thank you Home Depot and Ridgid.

Rated 5 de 5 de par LIGHT, EASY TO USE and POWERFUL! I bought this saw to cut through some 2X4 in wall doing some while doing plumbing work. Well I was surprised how easy the one hand saw really cuts without all the kickback and extra weight. You can use your hand to hold the material being cut.. I am very happy with the saw and would highly recommend anybody looking for a light, powerful one hand saw look no more. There are so many things you use this saw for Carpentry, cutting light metal and Pruning the trees ...just get the right blade. Also this saw uses any standard reciprocating saw blade.

I purchased this saw over 2 years ago and found that it works acceptably with a limited number of saws. The problem is too short a stroke when I am pruning with the saw. It would be nice to have a longer stroke to allow use on more types of blades. I have a Makita saws-all with a 1 inch stroke and it works well on a variety of blades. Perhaps a compromise with a 3/4 inch stroke would work better. The low mass of this saw is nice for one handed use however it is very responsive to the driven blade resulting in a loss of half the stroke length. So it takes for ever t saw through something whether it be wood or metal. This is tough when pruning using one hand.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Bad quality , the worst customer service As a remodeling contractor I always buy top quality tools and I depend on them to perform as such, this saw is great when it works, but it won't last long. They have the lifetime warranty on it, however, you will spend a life time getting it repaired properly. I took mine to their repair center (W T S), three months later it was ready for pick up; just to set it on the corner of my truck because it doesn't work right. Try calling them and you will sit on hold for hours. No more Ridgid for me, I have had enough of these people.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Don't Buy!!! Stopped working after just ten Months. Great concept, poor product. My Rigid reciprocating saw simply stopped working after just ten Months. additionally, the LED light only turns on while you press the trigger. The light is needed before pressing the trigger. If the light has a several second delay before switching off, you can activate the light with the trigger. This way you can line-up your cut without the blade reciprocating. My cordless drills (by a different brand) have this quality. All of this is a moot point considering the tool has stopped working all together. I'm having to jump through countless hoops to activate the warranty. It shouldn't be this hard! Now I understand why they dropped the price. DO NOT PURCHASE!

Rated 2 de 5 de par Small work I bought this saw thinking it was going to do medium type work. work typically you might use a sawzall for. cutting wood, trim outs, demo all in tight places where you might not get a normal sawzall. The verdict is this saw is only good for light work. I tried cutting out 2x material, cedar log material...i had to stop and use a regular sawzall. it wouldnt get through, at least in a good amount of time. The blade stroke is so short it doesnt give the blade a chance to fully cut. it almost like a toothbrush. i'm holding onto it for work in small places where i know it can cut. PVC pipe, copper pipe, under sinks, basements etc. i love these leds lights they are putting on tools these days. if you need another tool for your arsenal, this isnt a bad choice, just dont expect to much.

will this saw cut through bolts for automotive shop purposes?

Posée par: charlie
Yes! But I've found that you have to use the right blade for the job. A cheap metal blade works but take a touch longer and wears faster compared to a more expensive blade.

where can I get replacement armature brushes? Related- why did one brush wear out while the other is like new?

I purchased the saw at Home Depot but they do not appear to supply basis service parts.
Posée par: Stick
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID! Replacement RIDGID power tool parts can be ordered directly from the RIDGID master parts distributor at 1-877-544-9253. Why one brush in your R3031 shows extensive wear and the other does not is pretty unusual, since they both should wear somewhat evenly. A local service center would need to physically inspect the tool to see if they can determine the cause, and a correction for it with the tool. Regards, RIDGID

Old metal fence. Will this cut the pipes? If so, what is the best brand of blade to use?

Posée par: Gary
Yes, it should cut without any issues. Very comfortable and powerful for its size. Personally I like Diablo blades for cutting. If you have a grinder, you can get the diablo metal cut off wheel (about $15 for one), but the last and cut fast.. either tool will work fine

Is this model a brushless model I don't see the brushes as with mine that now after a few months died. I also don't see anything about the stroke of the blade.
Posée par: Bruce
Hi Bruce, This does not have the brushless motor and the length of stroke is 0.50", Thanks for asking. Greg

does this model have a rotating head?

Posée par: Nick
Thank you for asking, Nick. This reciprocating saw does not have a rotating head. However, it does have an orbital action head. Use the orbital action selector to select either a linear stroke or orbital cutting action. A linear stroke is best for making smooth cuts or when cutting metal while orbital action is best for making a faster cut in wood. I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in RIDGID! -Keri
