Rated 5 de 5 de par All my tools are made by Dewalt... until now. This is the first Rigid power tool I have purchase... All my tools are made by Dewalt... until now. This is the first Rigid power tool I have purchased and I couldn't be happier! Like any tool it takes a little getting used to, but once you take your time to get to know it, you can fly through the screws. SQUARE THE HEAD TO THE MATERIAL!!!!! I can't stress this enough... I think most of the bad reviews are simply due to the fact that people aren't using the tool correctly. The first job I used it for was screwing down sub flooring. So must easier than going one by one with my impact! This tool, definitely made me interested in checking out more Rigid tools. Oh... did I mention it comes with a lifetime warranty! LIFETIME!

Rated 5 de 5 de par rigid screw gun I'm a contractor and used this gun for a kitchen i remodeled, sheetrock and cement board and have no complaints at all. people that complained about this gun saying it doesn't drive the screw in straight obviously don't know how to use the tool. just think of it as driving a car if you're steering crooked what do you expect will happened??? the main thing when using it is to screw in straight. even corners as long as you get close enough where you can keep the gun straight you should do fine. don't get me wrong, there were a few screws that i had to go over with the drill, but it was still worth the purchase. knocks the work out! Even has a quick change for the bit. Buy one and see for yourself, i love it!

Rated 4 de 5 de par Patience and practice helps a lot At first I wanted to punch this thing through the drywall and leave it for dead. I almost returned it to the store in a fit of rage. I was lucky if I could get 50% of the screws to drive as expected. I fumed and struggled through my first few sheets of drywall before I conceded and used my impact driver to finish out my day. That night I went online and read reviews until I found one that gave me the tip I needed... To get this tool to work, and work well, you MUST keep the motor running. Don't be shy. Pull the trigger and let the bit spin before, during and after pushing the screw to the wall. Once I figured this out I was flying through the drywall and smiling all the way. Only occasionally would I miss a screw and almost always it was operator error; not the tool's fault. Do not expect to get into the corners or tight spots. Otherwise, pull the trigger and let 'er rip!

Rated 3 de 5 de par AVERAGE PRODUCT First of all I am a contractor so I know tools. After reading all the previous reviews i was skeptical of buying but this was the only product on the shelf. I did experience pretty much every problem other reviewers complained about. wasted screws, occasional jams, doesn't work well in corners (none do). But the fact is I hung 80 sheets of drywall by myself (over three days) with this gun and I know if I didn't have it, it would of been four days. So overall for $99 it was worth it. It has its ups and downs and I will use it again on my next project. How long it will last is another story but if you register your product you have a lifetime warranty. If this would of costed much more than the hundred bucks I probably would of returned it.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Terribly frustrating. Had the previous model and changed because I needed the longer screws that this model (supposedly) had the ability to drive. However, there is so much play in the drive bit that more times than not, the screw either bent (which made it a whole lot of fun to remove) or just misfired. Then even with the bit adjustment adjusted for maximum depth, it would still not counter sink the screws. I was laying a deck and had to sink virtually every screw with a battery operated drill with a square bit. Horrible, engineering. Can't even believe they are selling this. Certainly didn't live up to previous Rigid tools. I strongly recommend you avoid this purchase.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Tool I built and installed an outside deck six months ago and did it the old fashioned way with my Dewalt screw gun. Lots of screws and lots of time picking screws and driving them. Since I was putting in another level to the deck I decided to try this gun. This guy drove over a 1000 2" deck screws today flawlessly. The bit still looks good and the gun will get another workout tomorrow. So far I'm impressed. This tool qualifies in my book as being worth the money.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Good when it works. but Unreliable I have used this collated screw gun with Senco wood screws to attached Hardie Backer board and have probably put 4000 screws through it. I have returned it for service 2 times already because it works for a while and then it starts jamming and doesn't drive the screw at all. Sometimes the cause for this is a bad drive bit. I am actually going to bring it back for service a third time as I am writing this review. With that being said, at $99 it has allowed me to install Hardie Backer board through entire houses which would have been impossible without this tool and it has definitely paid for itself.

Rated 5 de 5 de par check the foward reverse switch every review I just read said it would not drive in a screw more than 1/2 way. Because the "reverse/ forward switch" is located so close to the trigger switch it is easy for the new user to always switch from forward to reverse each time your trigger finger moves around the area. once you realize this, all you need do is aim the gun level , press the nozzle to the sheetrock/ wood when the screw is lined up straight, pressthe nozzle toward the wall and pull the trigger. Its a very good tool when you master it.

can you use it for framing and deck?

Posée par: bob
It would work well for decks, but would not be suited for framing. It can be used for putting up plywood, OSB, and drywall.

what is the availability and cost of screws

Posée par: DanG
You can get the screws at Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards at any time. The cost is about the same each place, buy in bulk and talk to the managers they are usually willing to give a 10% discount on them if you are spending over a $100 in supplies on a big project.

how is it for picket fences?

Pickets to horizontals
Posée par: IWMac
Wonderful. I recommend one screw at the top and one at the bottom until you put up 20 or so pickets then go back and use the gun to rapidly i stall the other two screws.

would this work putting up wooden fences

Posée par: Dwight
Absolutely, I built a complete fence, quickly I might add, with no assistance. Use one Screw at the top and bottom for initial install. After 20-30 boards then go back and finish each board rapidly utilizing the speed and simplicity of the gun.

Can you use nails instead of screws with this tool

Posée par: Greeneyes
Wouldn't that be slick if it had a switch you could flip to make it change from turning screws to hammering nails ! But the fact that you would even ask this question makes me think the best answer is ''What ever project you had in mind...hire someone to do it. HD , I will understand if you don't use my answer but I know I'm not the only one thinking this :-)

can it be used to screw fence boards up? using a star bit and 1 5/8" screw?

Posée par: fencer
Yes, it can drive screws up to 3" in length. You will need to purchase a 6.25" star bit with a hex shank because the tool doesn't ship with a star bit.
