Rated 5 de 5 de par Crazy fast, high torque My >decade old brushed driver started making bad bushing noises, so I looked into getting a replacement. I fixed the squeal with some silicone lube sprayed into the front of the tool, but already decided to get a new one. This one was priced right, so I ordered it and it went unused until today when I decided to drive some deck screws, just to see how it performs. I over drove the first screw because it went in so fast and smooth, the head was 1/4 deeper than the surface before I knew it. Tried it on a different piece of wood with the same result. It's going to be my new favorite.

Rated 4 de 5 de par As with all similar review solicitations, this one comes far too early to give a truly honest assessment of the tool. So far, it works as expected. Battery life is adequate for my purposes. It has ample power. I have noticed that sometimes a bit is difficult to remove but I do not yet k no ow if that is the fault of the tool, the bit, or maybe debris in the chuck. My only negative comment is that I wish it had variable speed or torque settings but that is the fault of my choices, not the tools. Four stars because it took about a week for delivery to my Home Depot.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Ridgid brushless 1/4” impact has great power in a compact package. Even when using a compact 2.0 amp hour battery, it had no problems driving 3.5” screws all the way past flush. I have a lot of cordless, high end, brushless tools and this really appears to be able to run with any of them. Good quality tool. Comes with a pocket or belt clip. Nice bit or accessory holder on the base of the handle. At this price, this is a great tool.

Rated 4 de 5 de par This is a replacement for one that died on me. I either neglected to register the first one or Ridgid lost the registration so it couldn't be replaced under warrantee. The original worked well for 6 years under homeowner and church "handyman"use. I'm kind of locked into Ridgid because of my investment in batteries. Hopefully this one will last longer than the first one. It's not quite as strong as a Milwaukee or Makita but a bit more affordable.

Rated 1 de 5 de par cheaply made,garbage I bought this tool in a combo kit [charger, battery and drill] last year .all pieces have been or need to be replaced within 6 months. the impact has been replaced 3 x the last time i was sent a 4 speed that lasted a day. Each time it dies it takes over 6 weeks to be replaced .this is not acceptable when i need the tools on a daily basis. wish i never purchased this brand

Yes, I build polebarns with this drill. It drives 3 inch screws, timber locks, lag bolts and sheet metal screws with ease. It's light weight and batteries last all day.

Does an impact driver use impact to loosen a bolt or does it loosen the same as a standard drill?

What's the difference between R862301 and R862311 models? Is it because one has 3 speeds? I don't understand why that would matter with variable speed triggers. Thank you.

Hello, Dsubzero7 - A "3-speed impact driver" has a dedicated switch to select between three distinct power levels, while a "normal impact driver with variable speed trigger" allows you to control the speed and power simply by how hard you squeeze the trigger, offering a more continuous range of speeds within its capabilities; essentially, the 3-speed model gives you preset power levels, while the variable speed gives you more fine-tuned control over the power output depending on your grip on the trigger.
