Rated 3 de 5 de par A sticky mess I purchased three cans of this very expensive adhesive and the first can I opened had about an inch of hardened glue. I had to use a knife to cut away that layer. This product also expands while exposed to the air so you have to work it quickly and I mean work it. At first it was fairly easy to spread, but the longer the can was open, the harder it became. Another problem with the expanding is after your flooring has been put down and you are several row ahead, you can look back and see it coming up between the boards. What a pain! BTW- make sure you purchase the wipes because if you do not, you will regret it!

Rated 3 de 5 de par Not ready for amateur use This glue certainly sticks....everywhere ! Difficult to clean up and expensive to purchase also the cleaning wipes are expensive and no one warned us that they were required. My biggest complaint is the amount of waste as the product hardens in the can once opened. I took a hint from youtube and cut plastic discs to lay on the surface which helped, butter still had 25% waste. I regret my decision to glue down the floor insted of nailing as I have done previously. Glue is very expensive, slow and messy. Why isn't it available in 1 gallon cans - which would be perfectly sized for daily batch use. I have purchased 5 - 4 gallon buckets and \Hate it.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Buy the MS advance + instead Previously, I used the Taylor MS Advance plus to install 1800 sq ft of 7/16" bamboo flooring. To finish the master bath with the remaining flooring, I had to purchase this product, as the stores don't carry the Taylor product on the shelves. In comparison, this product was thinner, leaving messy strings of adhesive here and there, requiring constant cleanup. Combined with the fact that it is colored brown made it difficult to detect. Another major problem is the amount of waste. The metal bucket containing the product fails to seal completely, resulting in a skin forming on the top of the product overnight. If it was applied too thickly, it tended to ooze between the joints to the surface. The good- it sticks well, the flooring slid into place easily, and it cures/dries quickly. My advice, order the Taylor product instead.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Does the job i used this with bamboo and the instructions for the flooring said to use the open tack method, laying the product, waiting 15 minutes and then having 1/2 hour for the install. Timing was just right expect on more humid days when the set time was quicker. Seems to have done the job and the clean up was easy with mineral spirits-- tools right after each application and the floor up to 24 hours later (though quicker is better.) the instructions on the can were clear and specific, follow them and everything should work.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Beware using this mastic I recently installed a solid bamboo flooring using the Roberts (R1509-4) Urethane Adhesive and if I could give a “0” for this product I would. BEWARE, do not use this stuff if you don't want damage to the floor finish, especially if your a DIYer. Unless you immediately, and thoroughly clean off finger smudges, glue drips and squeeze-outs the glue will etch the finish. I used this stuff because I wanted to save a few bucks. Bad decision. Plus the glue skinned over in less than 10 minutes so you better have 3 or 4 people working with you. I had previously installed a glue down floor in another larger room using the Morning Star adhesive. The Morning Star glue cleaned up easily with mineral spirits, even after a week, but it was more expensive. I have used everything I can think of from mineral spirits to WD40 with a Mr Clean scrub pad. Even after scraping the glue spots with a razor knife to the finish the etching remains. Luckily the bad floor job is in a back bedroom and will be covered by an area rug. Otherwise I'd rip the stuff out and start over.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Adhesive was old and thick We had a professional installer, lay our hand scraped bamboo floor. The flooring was perfect for our rustic cabin. However the adhesive was old, thick and difficult to spread. We ended up needing more adhesive than recommended because it would not spread efficiently. I had to make a 4 hr return trip to get more adhesive so the job could be finished on time. Home depot provided us with a 20% discount. I would recommend that you secure your adhesive through another distributor or check the bucket well in advance of your floor being laid.

Bought this to put down a bamboo flooring, it does it's job as far as holding the floor. The problem is that where ever this glue touches, it leaves a white spot and discolors the flooring. There is no cleaning this as it remains spotted.. The installers were very careful but there was some glue on the flooring and now it is stained. I gave up on trying to remove the glue from other spots and decided to just buy some throw rugs to cover them up rather than trying to remove. If you want a glue to put the flooring down, this glue will work but be prepared to have a discolored floor. Very disappointed in this product.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Does the job I used this for 3/4" solid oak parquet flooring. It is syrupy and thus troweling the product takes a little getting used to. I didn't have to do too big of an area to do but you will need to take breaks from troweling if you do a big area to give your wrist a break. Have everything close by in the work area, and work in an organized manner, and you can minimize any mess from glue getting on things. It dried in about 18 hours, but that drying time depends on temperature and humidity. I was in a warm dry location. Good product.

how do you remove R1509 wood adhesive which has dried on 3/4" solid Teak flooring?

Posée par: Bill
The only thing that came close to removing the dried glue was WD40 using a Mr Clean scrub pad. You would need to try this method in an inconspicuous spot to see what it does to your finish. My floor was a solid bamboo product with a very hard finish, but the 1509 mastic etched the finish permanently. Good luck. You mad need to refinish the floor.

What prep needs to be done before we start this process? There are paint splatters and such on the subfloor.
Posée par: shadow
Floor needs to be clean and dry. No dirt or debris. I think a few dried paint splatters are ok as long as it is flat, and won't keep the flooring from laying flat on the surface.

How do you remove the glue while still wet? A wet paper towel isn't working.

Posée par: Lindsey
get the cleaning solvent and be careful not to get any glue on the finish, it permanently stains the finish.

How can you keep the unused glue from getting hard in the can

Posée par: Sevenjrs
Thank you for your inquiry. R1509 can't be guaranteed not to "self seal" once the container is open and exposed to an environment. Placing the lid back in place once the adhesive is used may help preserve the adhesive for a short while. Please contact technical services for more information at 866-435-8665. Thank you for choosing Roberts for your installation projects.

Do I have to use a moisture barrier when using this product on a elevated plywood subfloor?
Posée par: diypete
No. It doesn't need a moisture barrier. If you are working on a plywood subfloor then save yourself some headaches and use staples. This glue works fine but it will get every where. If you do choose to use the glue wait to clean it. I found it was easier to clean it after it cured for a few days.

how can a person "thin" the bucket of cement? ..can this be done?

Posée par: cj
CJ- This product is not cement based. If the adhesive inside is thick it means that it has been exposed to moisture and has cured. There is no way to thin it. I hope this helps, should you have any further questions please contact Roberts customer service at (866) 435-8665. Thank you for choosing Roberts!
