Used to install a vinyl floor. I liked how it was premixed, ready to use and very smooth with no lumps. I followed the directions for waiting until is tacky. Sort of a pain, slows the job done, but not much. Used a notched trowel to put on enough to cover the floor but not too much to come through the joints. Cleaned up with warm water as I went. I had precut all the flooring which sped the job up. Hardest part was removing and reinstalling the toilet. This made it easier to spread the adhesive and get a tight seal on the vinyl without ruining the toilet. Worth it for a cleaner look.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Thin to Win!!! I read lots of reviews about this adhesive not setting up or drying. It's important to note, this is not a thick-set mastic. Initially I laid it on a little thick and I noticed it was taking a long time to turn clear. I went back and skimmed off anything that was remotely thick and it began to turn clear in a matter of minutes. You want to end up with a thin film of this adhesive rather than a thick blanket with trowel grooves in it like other compounds. I only gave it 4 stars because this should have been better explained in the directions. When applied correctly, this is VERY sticky adhesive. I used it for sheet vinyl installation. Make sure you test fit BEFORE applying the adhesive. Once it's down, it's very difficult (and sticky/messy!) to get back up.

Was trying to adhere self stick tiles to particle board which is not advised but did not want to rip out and lay a new foundation. Tried painting with two coats of primer and then Self-Stick Tile Primer (Henry 336 Bond Enhancer) which did not work. Purchased this adhesive out of desperation and it worked. Put on a very thin layer and followed the manufacturer's directions, really, you don't need much. After placing on floor, lifted up a few times and it became sticker with each lift. Don't know if priming is still necessary but figure it couldn't hurt. Without this product the tiles I purchased would not have worked. Very pleased. Hope this helps others with the same self-stick not sticking problem. In the photo you can see the old tile (yellow), primed floor (white) and new tiles (black).

Keep a towel or something dry to wipe up overspills. This stuff does not dry fast and if wipe up immediately it will not stick. Use gloves latex works best, just keep the box near you. The gloves will get sticky so change often. I used 7 pairs of gloves to do my work. I used this on stick and peel vinyl titles over tiles and grout. This stuff stuck to everything I needed it too. This stuff is so strong it actually ate some of the grout when I placed directly on it. Overall this is a 10 rating in my book. Buy with confidence.

First of all, laying VCT tile is not a very easy DIY task. This is a pass/fail project, there is no middle ground. Either your glue and tiles will hold very well, or not really at all...it's all in the installation. I think most of the negative reviews here reflect poor installation, not a poor product. Here are a few pointers to make your floor installation a success using Roberts 2057 Premium Vinyl Tile Adhesive. TIPS: Clean the entire area around the work area of dust and debris to ensure none is tracked into the area being tiled. Have multiple rags and clean warm soapy water available at all times to clean up any accidental glue spills or glue on the face of a tile, and clean as SOON as it happens. Be very deliberate when handling the glue, it is super sticky and can get out of hand really fast if not handled carefully. Done correctly you should have zero glue cleanup once installed. Do not take for granted the temperature and humidity of the installation area and be certain you are within the installation parameters! Avoid any major swings in temperature during the installation, and during the drying period. Take your time when spreading the glue, do not rush it. This glue is watery and runny for a reason folks, it allows you around an hour of open time to spread the glue. Use a 1/16 in. x 1/16 in. x 3/32 in. u-notch flooring trowel and spread the glue as evenly as you can without extra ridges. DO NOT apply more glue than the trowel allows. This glue acts like contact cement, and less is more. Wait until the glue dries! This is VERY CRUCIAL. If the glue is still yellowish, it is not ready. This can take from 30 minutes to a few hours or more depending on temperature. Make sure you keep the room above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, and have good circulation to exhaust the moist air out of the area while the glue evaporates and dries. Once the glue dries you have around 6-10 hours to lay the tiles and still maintain proper adhesion. Single rooms and smaller areas can be done all at once, but larger areas might need to be broken up into smaller sections...so plan accordingly on larger floors. Last but not least...roll the floor with a 100lb roller. Do not skip this step. Roll slowly and completely in both directions. This tool can be rented from Home Depot for about $24/day.

Rated 2 de 5 de par OMG!!!!! Does it ever really get clear & tacky???? I bought this to lay vinyl. I spread a very thin layer, which came out yellow. I waited. And waited. It was still yellow. I ate a bowl of ice cream. Still yellow. And stinky. Make sure to open the windows and doors. I went for a run with the dog. It was still yellow. My head started to pound from the fumes, so I caught a flight to China for some acupuncture. Got back... Headache gone, but the stuff was still yellow. I gave it 2 stars because I honestly have no idea how well it works, as I have yet to lay the vinyl... It's still yellow!

Can it be used for outdoor asphalt layer roofing or bonding of wood with vinyl PVC?

Can it be used for outdoor asphalt layer roofing or bonding of wood with vinyl PVC?
Posée par: Cheny
It is designed for interior application. Shingles; use a black tar-based adhesive. Wood and PVC? No outside, yes inside.. If something is to be used as glue it should securely stick to the surface. To test the adhesive put a little dab on each surface. Wait for it to completely cure (24 hours) then try to rub it off, try real hard. If it rubs off it is not bonding with the surface, thus, it will not work.

Can this be used with attached pad. Just have a few spots we need to use.
Posée par: Lcanniff
Thank you for your inquiry. No, 2057 is specific to VCT installations. You may want to consider Roberts 7350 to repair cushion/pad. Typically, flooring with pre-attached pad is a floating system. Confirm with the manufacture- repair / maintenance instructions.

I have an existing sheet linoleum floor. Will the 2057 adhesive allow vinyl tiles to be attached over the linoleum?
Posée par: LJ
I would think so because I used for my vinyl plank flooring and they are just longer sheets (fake wood floor finish).

Can I use this to repair curling sheet tile in my basement?

Our vinyl sheet tile has curled in front of the shower where we have no molding to keep it down. And, will it hold on our concrete floor?
Posée par: herndongrandma
I would think you could. I used it for my vinyl plank flooring (fake wood floor finish). It dried clear and I made sure to clean up excess spots. use olive oil to get any off your hands and a wet wash cloth/paper towel to wipe up excess. Sometimes curling flooring needs to be warmed up with a heat gun to flatten anew.
