Rated 5 de 5 de par High quality and unexpensive RYOBI cordless tools get proffesional work done I have been doing commercial HVAC since mid 2010 and I have used this grinder ever since. The grinder is not as fast as my corded Dewalt. But, in reality, no cordless grinder is going to be as fast as a corded one (regardless of brand name). However, this cordless RYOBI grinder gets the job done. It's supposed to be a DO-IT-YOURSELFER tool, but as a professional HVAC installer, I have used this grinder for professional uses. I have built ductwork in new hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, and super stores (a couple WALMARTS). I would recommend this Ryobi grinder (and any other Ryobi cordless tool) to DO-IT-YOURSELFERS and professionals as well.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great little grinder. I've used grindes a lot. I use to be a TIG welder back in the '70s and used a grinder a few hours every working day back then and still use them regularly these days. I've used this grinder maybe 20 times so far and ad usual with Ryobi its a great value. So far its had plenty of power ( using the 2x Lion batt ) seems well put together, the trigger and safty work welln easy to swap disc's and I love the lt green color of these tools, makes them easy to see on the job or in the box. I buy tools that are a good value for my regular use, Ryobi over the past 10 years has earned my first consideration when I'm shopping for a new tool.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Works well for ordinary use Some reviewers have had problems with this 4 1/2" angle grinder, including one man in the store who had just returned one that never worked. My experience is different, though. I had to reduce the size of some t-bar metal fence posts and this tool worked well. I used it for about 45 minutes (and drained the 4ah battery) with no signs of problems. The handle remained cool, the job was completed, and only a battery recharge was needed. This is not an industrial angle grinder, but for home, hobby, or as an alternative when electricity or compressed air is not available, it does the job at a slightly slower pace but gets the job done. No regrets at all.

The wrench stores in the handle so it's always where you need it. The safety button and trigger are a little touchy, sometimes I have to adjust my grip to get it to work, might just be mine. It is much slower than my corded grinders and it goes through batteries really quick. I have 3 of the p100 batteries that come with the cheaper drill combo packs. Went through all of those batteries making less than 100 cuts on 1/4 round stock. Would highly suggest a 4ah battery, or 2. I will mostly use it with a wire wheel to clean up flux core welds. Maybe a couple cuts on thin material. Overall it is still worth the money.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Getting a bad rap by some I didn't read through the reviews when I purchased this, it was more of an impulse buy when at the store. When I gave it a try cutting through pavers I thought it was defective, as the new 2.0 amp batteries I had were both dead after very very limited use. I picked up a 4.0 amp P108 battery and this grinder is AWESOME. I've made plenty of cuts without issue. As with any grinder don't try and force it to work faster than it should by applying excess pressure as that will shorten battery use time and cause it to get hot. On a side note: Wear Goggles when using, don't be a Cowboy. At first I wore safety glasses and still managed to get a small but quite painful piece of stone in my eye. Goggles are a must.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Nice - but eats up battery power I bought this grinder to cut off 6, 1/2" rusty bolts, which included cutting through some of the nuts that were rusted on as well. The grinder did a good job of cutting, but it ate through the batteries pretty quickly, which I expected. That normally would not be a problem, since I have two batteries, but the heavy load on the batteries caused them to heat up and the P100 batteries won't charge when they're hot. So, I had to place them in the refrigerator to cool them down before they would charge. This caused my project to be delayed quite a bit. I give the grinder 5 stars, but will rate the batteries as 3 stars due to the heating issue.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Handy tool I do a lot of welding gates in several hog barns, with age the gates are rusted and need cleaned up, these buildings are purpose designed and convenience of outlets wasn’t in the design feature. This grinder works great for prepping the gates prior to welding, it’s got plenty of power and rpm’s are more than adequate to grind quickly, I will say it does like to eat batteries, don’t expect a days use in a charge. I run the p108 on this and guesstimate total run time of 20 min, which is a lot of grinding but for big jobs make sure you bring extra batteries. Another great tool that after owning I can’t live without.

Rated 1 de 5 de par This tool did not work as expected My first time using this tool left me disappointed. The power switch was locked on and the tool stopped. I slid it to the off position and then turn it on and it did not start. Changed battery and it would run. This happened on 4 batteries. I charged them and got the same results. I was only able to cut 6-7 inches of 10 gauge steel and went to an electric. The other problem was the lock on the spindle. I could lock it and tighten the the cut off disk but will not lock so you can remove the disk. Lock button on the power switch and spindle are hard to work. I will go to HD and see if this is normal. Hopefully it is not and I will get a replacement.

Will this grinder work to cut metal?

My question refers to the 4 1/2 in Angle Grinder.
Posée par: George
Yes if you buy the right cutting wheel. HD sells a number of them in the same tool area as this tool.

Can't use diamond masonry blade?

I think I'm hearing this grinder can't/shouldn't be used with a masonry blade. I want to score bricks for cutting. Will this grinder do that? Thank you.
Posée par: MMBill
Probably not . Not enough power for a dry cut diamond blades kerf. A thin kerf 1/16" carborundum blade may lightly score the brick to an 1/8" depth. The dust may decrease the motor life as it will get sucked in by the tools fan impeller and is bad for your health to breath. A hammer, wide brick chisel and a youtube video on cutting brick may be your best friend.

does the grinding wheel come with the grinder?

Posée par: bootsy
Yes, it comes with a grinding wheel. Like all Ryobi tools, I don't trust the provided replaceable part to be that durable, but it has a wheel.

Can it cut through a stainless steel sheet and corrugated metal?

Can it cut through a stainless steel sheet and corrugated metal?
Posée par: 7ironace
I would venture to say yes it would cut Stainless Steel Sheeting and Corrugated Metals fairly easily, as well as any cordless Grinder on the Market. How thick will it cut goes without saying you will just have to try it and see. I don't think any cordless grinder would cut 1/4" or thicker, material well but then again most corded grinder won't either. I recently used a 6" 1/8" cut off wheel to cut a piece of 3/4" Galv Pipe, 1/8" wall, and it cut through like butter. I gave up using 4" cut off wheels because they just don't seem to last long on any grinder I would use so I was surprised it worked on this unit. Of course you have to fully remove the guard to install such a wide blade and depending on rules at work this might not be allowed. Just make sure you use caution and take your time and allow this tool to cut I am sure it will perform well. I try to always use the cut off wheels that have a cup to keep the blade as far as possible from your hands. The handle has 3 mounting options, Left, Right and Middle to ensure the handle is never in the way. Also having the spanner tool stored in the handle is very handy for quick wheel changes. How long the battery will last depends on how cold it is where you are working and how long of a cut you need to make. Like any cordless tool the longer you keep the running the faster the battery will run out. The nice thing about all Ryobi Batteries is the Newer Chargers allow you to store the Battery without over charging it to ensure when you do need the tool you will always have a fully charged battery. Given the inexpensive cost of the Batteries and newer Multi Port Chargers, I am sure this tool will allow you to go all day with the occasional battery and wheel change. This tool does not feel cheap and cuts as well as any grinder I've used. Like any tool that runs on Battery it will not perform as well as a corded tool would, that's to be expected. Cordless tools, however, are getting really close to their corded counterparts. If using a corded tool is not an option than this tool will work as well as most any cordless tool. Given the price of this tool and it's performance, I am here to say it is well worth the the money. There are not many cordless Grinder Options and this might not be the very top of the line, let me assure you it's no where near the bottom either; I would say it's easily upper middle or easily 2nd place. I hope this helps...
