Rated 2 de 5 de par Intentional chang in feed rate causes the line to be used very quickly Ryobi 40V Li ion trimmer!!! I bought the replacement spools and found they changed the feed rate with the new spools. With about half as many teeth on the replacement spool as the original the new spools feed string twice as fast. Add that to the price of the replacement spools this is a very bad buy. This is not a bump to feed , the line is feeds each time you release the power trigger, with less teeth it feeds almost twice as much line. Ryobi should be ashamed -- don't the make enough on the over priced spools??? Solution -- rewind your original spool don't throw that one away.

Rated 1 de 5 de par lines snaps I don't know if i got a defective spool, but I told HD it was defective when I returned the pack of three. For $20 for three spools I would expect quality. I loaded the first spool and turned the edger on. Lined snapped. Reset the line and started the edger.... line snapped. Reset the edger and lined snapped. Went to resent and found the line apparently melted to the spool. I have been manually refilling spool, but have found that if you rewind with anything more than one row on the spool the line will chaff and snap. I measure out about 3 feet of line and do only one row on the spool and it seem to work fine. So going forward I will be rewinding the spool manually.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor Quality Continually Disrupts Work The issue I have continually run into with these spools (aside of the high price), is that every foot or so, the link is stuck to itself, preventing it from feeding. This afternoon alone, on the third spool of the pack (same as other and previously purchased packs), I had to stop, remove the cap, and manually pry loose the line (at one point had to bite it and pull to pry it loose from itself) about every 5 minutes over a ~30 minute period. In my review of the trimmer, I posted images of the trim line getting stuck in the motor (do not know how that happened!). Probably better off to get less expensive line and wind it yourself.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Super Easy! Great string [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had my Ryobi string trimmer for years now. I love it and this string gets the job done whether trimmer or using as an edger. At first I was always buying the replacement spools, because they are super easy to change out and wasn’t sure if I had the patience to refill spools. Super easy to wind your own refill spools. Since I have a large yard, (5 acre corner lot) love having a pile of filled spools at the ready. Ignore the bad reviews because the person bought the wrong spool for their machine. Not the fault of the string or the spool! Spools are super durable.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Not Very Good The spool was supposed to be an upgrade to the blue spool that comes with the 24V trimmer. Unfortunately for me this upgrade was a pain to work with. Since the gauge size is thicker I though it would last longer but it does not. Also, the line in the spool fused with the rest of the line, casuing the automatic release mechanism not to work. This means you have to manually release the spool line by hand. Which means you have to stop what your doing, turn the machine upside down, remove the end cap, remove the spool, pull enough line for the next job, replace the cap. Not buying this upgrade anymore. Next time im sticking with the BLUE spool.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Much better line than the blue line! Went to HD to get some replacement (blue line) spools for my less than year old 40V trimmer. While picking them up, I noticed the newer model 40V trimmer--steel shaft, attachments available (now on my want list). I noticed the two line bump head on it & the green twisted line. Looked like a good improvement as the .060 blue line seamed weak for the power of the 40V trimmer. Right next to the new trimmer was a rack of replacement spools with the green line on them. Label said they were for 18, 24 & 40 volt trimmers. I picked up a pack as they were only $1 more! I have now trimmed the yard twice & I must say there is certainly a difference! On tall stemmed weeds, it is more aggressive cutting them. I have a road ditch on the back side of my yard that I trim every third mowing. With the blue line, I had to stop several times to let line feed out as it would wear fast in heavy cutting. With the green line, it was cutting faster, I stopped halfway through it to check the line wear & it had only shortened 3/4 of an inch. I expect this green line to last more than twice as long as the thinner blue line. This is a major improvement for any Ryobi trimmer.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor Factory Quality Control Every spool needs to be carefully rewound by hand to ensure trouble-free operation. The spools from the factory are poorly wound and stick on the spool repeatedly. When the line binds internally, it snaps off at the opening and you waste time pulling the cap and rewinding. Even when the operation goes smoothly, the line is quickly consumed and the spools are high priced. It's clear Ryobi plans to make their money on line sales much like vacuum cleaner makers made their money on bags. I regret throwing out my prior Black & Decker unit.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor product This product is of poor quality. The string sticks to it's self (actually it melts together) on the spool causing it to break at the point it sticks. Will not auto feed . If you have similar problems take it back for a refund. I spent $40 before I wised up. The price of this product is also way to high. My next attempt to get the trimmer to auto feed is to buy bulk string and wind the spools my self. I like the Ryobi 40 volt trimmer but this problem is very aggravating. If this doesn't get better I'm going to buy something else but not at Home Depot

Which spoils fit the 40 volt expand it weed eater? Thank you

Posée par: Marty
These DO NOT fit the Expandit 40V trimmer. The string will work but the spools do not work. After additional reading these work on auto feed units and NOT on bump feed.

How do you rewind the spool when you are out of twine

Robi 40 v
Posée par: Clifford
Hi Clifford, You would just cut some string to the proper length and put one end on the anchor hole and wind the string in the direction of the arrow leaving about 5 to 6" of line unwrapped. Thanks for asking. Greg

Are these spools refillable or one and done?

Posée par: LT1HD
Hi LT1HD, Yes these spools can be refilled with the proper line (0.080). A lot of our customer purchase these three packs and throw away the spools once they run out. Each factor is a great option. Thanks for reaching out to us, RYOBI Canada.

If this does not fit my RY40002 witch line do I use?

Posée par: Cheri
Cheri, I checked a U Tube for this model. The .080 green line is fine. The video indicated that you need to self wind the trim line on the unit. I would therefore buy the green line in a large quantity package but not the three spools. The line would be the same just easier to wind the unit. The video may be accessed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=V8NEB2HdLHg Good luck!
