I needed a polisher to bring back the shine to our kitchen granite counters and backsplash. While the bottle cleaners, stone sealer and polish that I bought at HD left a film and haze, even after following the instructions for a hand buffing, I threw the dice that a mechanical buffer would solve the problem. It did! The polisher fits easily into your hand, the speed is at a level where you can control the machine, and the results speak for themselves. Our counters now look like they did new fifteen years ago, all for about $ 60.00 and an hour's worth of time.

Rated 4 de 5 de par outstanding price point. I have used this for headlight restoration. I cleaned up an old car that sat to long. I even used it to clean my glass cook top stove. All these people talking negative about this product, should probably hire a professional. They do not know what they are using or applying the correct compounds. It is comparable to them getting a miter saw and thinking it will cut tile perfectly. This thing works great. Just know what you are doing before you start a project. YouTube is a great asset if you are confused.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Backing pad not balanced! Bought this polisher as I am not a pro. Out of the box, the polisher had the foam disc out of balance and pressed on one side due to the way this product is packaged. Also the provided bonnet design has been modified by RYOBI as they come with elastic string instead of hand tied ones like before. the elastic bonnets are so tight that once I put that on, the bonnets came off with great difficulty along with tearing off the foam pad. I contacted RIDGID customer service which was of no use. Please dont waste your money and look for something else.I bought this product because of RIDGID quality and name but am disappointed!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Know what you're getting I've read a lot of reviews on here from people who apparently didn't understand what they were buying. This is an orbital polisher, meaning it doesn't spin the pad in a perfect circle like a drill does, it spins the pad in an orbital motion (like an oval). Most round sanders and polishers are orbital, because that's how they've been engineered to work efficiently. Was the foam pad on mine perfectly centered? Nope. Does it vibrate? Yes. Does it sling the bonnet off if you lift it while it's running? Probably. But it's made to work in an orbital pattern, so the latter two are byproducts of that action. Mine works great and like any polisher/buffer which has an elastic bonnet, you need to remember to flip the little switch to turn it off before you lift it from the surface. It's easy, it has a thumb switch. It does the job as well as any sub $50 6in. polisher could possibly do. Just don't expect it to be perfectly balanced like a drill because it's orbital.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Saved my back I was hand polishing granite countertops when my aching back made me stop.Home Depot is a mile away so I ran over and picked up the buffer and a 3 pad variety package. In no time flat I had removed all of the first layer of sealant and then put down the final layer of polish. A quick switch to a buffing pad and in about 15 minutes the job was done and the granite counters looked brand new and my back felt great.

I love it. Nothing to dislike about. We had this for about 2 months. I used it alot. On my car and my truck. It met my expectations. I may by the cordless one too.

The more expensive ones with variable speeds are better, but this is a lot cheaper, and works ok for most jobs. The majority of the poor reviews seem to come from people who don't understand what a random orbital polisher is. It's supposed to be unbalanced. It is not meant to be run when not in contact with a surface. It is supposed to vibrate. That's what gets rid of swirl marks. I waxed my pickup with this, and it cut the time in half, with very little effort.

Used it for the first time yesterday and the pad separated when I removed the applicator bonnet. Box stated that the buffer is covered by a three year warranty so I called Ryobi. Rep looked up buffer and after not being able to find part number for pad, I was told to glue it back on. When I asked if that was not covered by warranty I was told gluing would be a simple fix. I would say a simple and proper fix would be to replace the defective part. I have been a long time Ryobi fan who owns many ONE+ tools as well as several plug in tools, I was very disappointed with this non-resolution.

Can I use this to apply a final coat of wax or lacquer on a wooden table I am building?
Posée par: BR
I would think you could use it for the wax - just can't use a lot of hard pressure. Lacquer I am not sure about. The buffer is a great tool - just can't handle lots of force. I would give it a try - will definitely work for the wax.

Posée par: littlepapi65
You woul get better results by using the larger unit. A smaller unit would tend to burn-in on a surface. Need the wider buffing surface.
