Rated 4 de 5 de par Not bad at all This is not a bad unit at all, especially for the price. It provides enough power for woodworking and metal working needs, does not bog down like the stationary sanders of other well-known-and-formerly-respected manufacturers. Changing the belt is EASY and takes only a few seconds. In addition, if the belt is wandering, a simple adjustment knob sets it back on track again. For a weekend warrior, do-it-yourself type guy, this is a great buy. If I was doing woodworking professionally I would invest in a high dollar item, but for a guy like me this will get the job done every time.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Buy First off: I'm a weekend warrior when it comes to wood working. Love to do it, but still learning. This is my first Stationary Sander, and have used it for a few days now. I did put on a Diablo 120grit belt for my finish sanding. Price-one of the least expensive units I have seen Size- not too big, allows me to store it away when not in use. Ease of use-So much easier sanding a lot of parts before assembly now. (used to sit down with an electric hand sander and make a huge mess). Easy to change belts, and reconfigure belt to vertical position. 4x36in size belt is a good size work surface, easy to put pieces up there and gets them smooth fast. Cons: Let me use it a little longer and I will update, none so far. Overall I am very happy. It makes short work of something that used to be the longest part of some of my builds. If I had to do it over again, I would still buy this.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Nice sturdy tool I am pleased with this sander. Easy assembly. I find it works well on medium sized projects. Like my Ryobi planner it has some mass to it, it is not light or flimsy. The coarse sanding disk and belt that comes with it removes a lot of material very quickly. The motor will bog down if you apply too much pressure to the belt. But you do not need to apply a lot of pressure to get the job done.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Better Quality than I expected! I debated on whether to buy this one or jump to a really expensive JET brand. I only woodwork as a hobby and not serious enough about it to spend $400 on a sander. I was worried about the quality of the Ryobi and went back and forth in my mind for a while on whether to purchase it. Well I walked into Home Depot shortly before Christmas and picked it up. This thing works great ! I have been sanding a lot of wood work on it and I have had 0 issues. It is powerful yet not deafening. Some people complained in other reviews on previous models that the belt tracking was off and the belt always moved to one side. I also had this problem, until I followed the directions and adjusted the belt tracking. now it stays right in the center and doesn't move. I am really glad that I bought this, so much so that I signed in here to write the review. Thanks for the great value Ryobi on a nice product.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Sander for the Money I wouldn't expect to give a $120 sander a 5 star review, but this one earns it for its excellent value. There are more rugged sanders out there, obviously. But our Scout troop was impressed enough with the first two of these that we bought a year ago that we just bought two more. First, the 4"x36" belt tracks well and is easy to adjust with the knob on the side. It doesn't keep trying to run off the edge while you sand. You can slow down or stop the belt if you really bear down on it, but if you use it in a normal fashion, it has plenty of power... especially when compared to some of the other brands of sanders of the same price we have since discarded. Changing the belt is extremely easy and takes mere seconds. I recently ran one of these sanders non-stop for an hour and a half grinding a knife, and it never slowed or got too hot. So again, I give this sander 5 stars because of it's price value. It may not be enough if you are a professional shop using it every day for hours and hours, but it is more than enough sander for the average garage user. So far, none of the four Ryobi sanders we own have let our troops down while sanding pinewood derby cars, bows, or any other wood working project.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Ryobi tools are not as reliable as they used to be I have one of the old school versions of this that is over 15 years old. Its very heavy and I thought it was time to buy a new one as I figured it would go out at some point. So, I purchased this one thinking it would be similar. Not even close. it's not as solid as the old one, and this new one quit after 2 weekends of use within a month of purchasing it. I also had an older ryobi cordless drill that was about 15 years as well. I bought a replacement again ryobi, and it was junk as well. the head on it swiveled around and you couldn't drill a straight hole to save your life. Looks like I will be back at home depot to return it.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Bench Sander on a Budget I am a hobbyist woodworker and have been on the lookout for a quality bench sander for a few weeks. After shopping online and investigating local hardware stores, I landed on this bench sander with my given budget. This is my first bench sander, so understand that I am coming into this review with no background with these types of tools. Pros: ==== -Very simple assembly and operation. -Solid overall construction. -Easy belt changing and adjustment. -Decent amount of motor power. -The first unit I purchased had a warped sanding disc. However, I exchanged it for a new one at The Home Depot with no problems. The unit I have now works great. -Operation noise is comfortably low. -Includes 80 grit belt and disc. Cons: ==== -The included miter gauge is fully constructed from plastic. It's not flimsy, but I expected higher quality for a precision component like this. -The gauge inscribed onto the side of the machine for adjusting the work table angle is useless. You're better off using a protractor and/or a speed square to set your table. -Packaging was cramped and resulted in the aluminum work table with scratches right out of the box. Overall, this bench sander is a good value. I recommend it to anyone looking for a tool that will meet their project needs.

Rated 5 de 5 de par What a GREAT bench sander! I love my Ryobi bench sander. Let me tell you why. I am a retired professional photographer turned metal artist and laser artist. I have been working on a project that requires a wood base. I have two different types of hand sanders that I thought I could use. An orbit sander and an electric finishing sander. But neither of those were doing what I wanted for smoothing out my finish on the wood base. I decided it was time that I get a bench sander, but didn’t want to spend much money because I wasn’t sure when I would use it again. I decided to get one at a discount tool store (HF). It was $40.00 less than Home Depots Ryobi. I bought the sander and spent all afternoon trying to figure out how to change the belt and make the belt work at a 45 degree angle. I never did figure it out and when I decided to just plug it in and use it the way it was, the sanding belt would stop and slip. I got so aggravated with it I decided to spend $40.00 more and go to HD and buy the Ryobi and take the other one back. When I got back to my shop, I pulled the Ryobi out of the box and started working with it immediately. The first thing I did was to change the sanding belt from the 80 grit (that came with it) to a 120 grit. After my ordeal with the first bench sander, I could not believe how easy the Ryobi was to use and how easy it was to make my wood base smooth. I just love my new Ryobi bench sander. After using it for a couple of hours I was done sanding the wood bases that I had made up in advance. What a great sander. I took some photos of what it was doing for me.

If the object im sanding is wet, will it affect the sander?

Posée par: llay
I would think that sanding a wet object would cause problems such as the sand paper being clogged and parts of the sander would also experience the same problem
