Rated 1 de 5 de par Blade holding mechanism does not last This seems like a great saw, and has great features. I've owned the jig saw for a couple of years, but I only used it for a couple of basic projects - nothing heavy duty or requiring perfectly straight cuts. The blade has some play, which is annoying (at best) if you are trying to cut a perfectly straight line. Even with light use of the saw, the mechanism that holds the blade broke, and didn't work all that easily even when it wasn't completely broken.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Do yourself a favor: by a different saw. I purchased my Ryobi JS550LK jigsaw when setting up a new wood shop (bench sander, drill press, etc). I was initially impressed by the power - cutting through 2x4s with ease, and accuracy. Most of my work, however, is cutting through 1x stock (#2 pine) - and power is the only going for this saw. The 360 degree scrolling action (the one they tout as a GOOD thing) flips itself on when you least expect it, taking you off on unwanted tangents, The bevel cutting base plate will also not allow a perpendicular cut (even when set that way). Cutting circles causes the blade to angle to the outside of the curve, which adds a lot of sanding time, trying to sculpt wood pieces back to their intended shapes. This saw is also much heavier than other saws I've used in the past. I will be searching for a new saw soon, as mine finally died this past weekend (after less than a year's use).

Rated 2 de 5 de par I Should Have Listened When most people don't like something you should probably listen. Lots of play in the blade and the blade doesn't point straight when the scroll knob is in the locked position. I read all of that but had to learn the hard way. That being said I can cut along a line with it with no problems. I usually leave myself a little room from the line and then sand to the line. Don't know how to use a laser to cut around curves... I use a tablesaw for straight cuts. The laser hides the line when you are cutting straight so I put a piece of masking tape over it. Much better. I don't really want to keep the saw but can't quiet justify tossing it out just yet - but there is hope it will go up in smoke.

Rated 1 de 5 de par I got a lemon I love Home Depot. I have several Ryobi tools and have had good luck until now.I purchased the JS550L it was affordable and has some nice features. The problem after a few minutes of use the blade lock/ scrolling knob failed. I sent it to an authorized service center, got it back after a few minutes same problem. Contacted Ryobi customer service, you have to have the same problem serviced 3 times to receive a replacement. Shipping 3 times would cost more than the tool. Good News, With a little alteration to the case My new Porter Cable saw fits nice and is a far superior product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Don't Do It !!!!! I made the STUPID mistake of buying this jig saw BEFORE reading the reviews. Out of the box, it appears to be an awesome little tool - - - but, that was before I attempted to use it. As many other reviewers mention, the laser guide is a total joke. It could not be proper adjusted and virtually renders the saw useless, unless you care nothing at all of trying to cut a reasonable straight line with it. After multiple attempts of trying to adjust it, I gave up. Returned it within 2 hours. Like I said above, DON'T DO IT !!! Stay away from this one. Ryobi missed the mark on this one.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor Poor Poor Blade wander is unacceptable. Won't lock into flat position. This is a worthless device.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Cheap for a reason I bought this tool because I thought I didn't need to spend a lot of money on a jig saw, as I was only going to be using it for very light-duty work. Turns out the saw canm't even stand up to light duty work. The blade holder, which supposedly rotates side-to-side and can be locked in position, has rotated permanently off-center and I can't get it back to a proper centered, straight position. If I was to use it, I now have to make all my cuts with the unit at a 30-degree angle. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Rated 3 de 5 de par Decent jigsaw...but I've never used a $100+ one I bought this because of the price and features. Now, I've never used a jigsaw before this one, so I don't have a good comparison. However, I was able to use this easily right out of the box. The laser is not extremely helpful because it doesn't seem to be exact, but it's a good rough guide. For simple craft projects I think this works fine. The rotating feature of the blade seemed to be more troublesome than helpful.
