This was the only band saw in stock at my local Home Depot, so after looking the display model over ( and reading the other reviews ) I decided to take a chance on it. The first thing I did was check the flatness of the table ( it's packed on top of the foam insert ) of it's not flat in the main (center) section of the table you might as well return it since you'll never get a square cut out of it. Mine was perfectly flat in the center, and the grooved outer edges were only 1/64 in. or so lower, so I saw no real problems there. After attaching the table I got out my small machinist square and squared up the table to the blade.

I bought this product as I'm a Ryobi fan and in doing my research, this saw was supposed to be the best saw sub-$200 on the market. I bought it with curbside pickup and Home Depot was amazing. They have no fault in the quality of this product. I got my saw home and began working on tuning it up for use. I've tried using it several times, over the span of almost 30 days, to get a feel for it. The reason I would not recommend this bandsaw is even with two tension tracking mechanisms, you cannot get the tension tight enough on this saw to make it cut curves. The blade wanders and eventually bogs down on anything other than a straight cut. Save your self the trouble and keep looking for a better bandsaw.

I am a hobbyist at best so I do not need/require a large, "industrial" saw. I primarily purchased it for helping my son build his Pinewood Derby cars for Cub Scouts. I have to tell you, this thing works great for that sort of work! I know it can/will handle larger jobs with ease also. The set-up was logically planned, easy to accomplish, and quick. The light weight is perfect considering the fact that I do not have a dedicated work bench/area. I can easily take it to where ever the job site is for the day. I highly recommend this saw to anyone looking for an affordable, well-built saw for someone that considers him/herself a hobbyist!

Bought the 3 pack of blades sold in the store. This saw is not a 5hp Powermatic or Woodmizer sawmill, but it gets the job done. I've resawn 3" thick mesquite, curves in kiln dried pecan and air dried walnut. This saw does exactly what it is designed to do...cut. I found the setup and blade changes really easy. The vaccum doesn't eliminate every speck of dust but it gets most of it. There's plenty of online video instruction about bandsaw setup and use that has been very helpful. Right now I don't have room for a 300lb+, 14" cutting beast and so far this one has done everything I needed it to do. The base was a little wonky (for no obvious reason) but some hammer and wedge encouragement straightened it out so I could bolt it down flat.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Solid but Lacks Precision This is a solid little machine and has no problem cutting through 3/8" brass square rod. I purchased it with the need for precise mitered cuts, and it is not capable of what I need straight out of the box. The cutting table was warped and I spent hours sanding it flat, and the miter gauge is so poorly made that its nearly useless. That said, the price is unbeatable and now that I have leveled the table and purchased an upgraded miter gauge I think I can make it work. Would not recommend to anyone in need of a high level of accuracy, but is a good little tool for a hobbyist. Additionally, the 62.5" blades can be a little tricky to find if you need a different tooth for cutting metal like I did.

Made a mistake and jumped into this purchase based on how I liked my other power tools made by ryobi. I have exhausted every option I can find on the internet to try and make this saw better and nothing has worked. Everything from better blades to adjusting the guide wheels to having the wheels balanced and nothing has helped. The worst part is that it is only one problem I am having and that is the blade tracking off and I know some is expected but not a 1/4 upto 3/8 of an inch on a 3/4" thick pine board. If it wasnt for my tracking problem the saw would fer sure be worth it but for me the saw is all but useless.

Rated 2 de 5 de par mediocre @best I had high hopes for this band saw... I have other Ryobi products and they have done me right in both price and value.... but this band saw was a disappointment. starting with the 2.5 motor... thats could not keep up with it self and would slowdown and even stopped several times while performing a simple turn... bought differents blades to try...with no avail...this little engine just could not... also the constant drift of the blade during a simple bandsaw box was enough to exacerbate me beyond word that I canot post in this review..... Im now looking for something with a little more back bone... disappointed thats all I can say

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great Hobby Bandsaw The saw was easy to put together and use. Some great features as well to check band tension and alignment. Used this saw to cut out 180 wooden arrows that my wife asked me to do for a church young women camp this coming summer. Good power but mediocre blade comes with it. The blade broke about 2/3 the way through my stack of wood. Bought some better blades aftermarket and have no complaints. My shop vac hooked up to directly to the port on the back and it kept my garage clean during the whole time.

Can you get a metal blade for it

Posée par: Bull
Assuming you are asking about blades to cut metal. Yes, Home Depot sells 62 inch blades made for cutting metal. This band saw has worked like charm, had it for over a year and have cut metal several times, zero issues.

This is a correction to my previous response to this question. 746 watts = one horsepower. : Volts times amps. = watts. : 120 volts. Times. 2.5 amps. = 300 watts: 300 watts. Divided by 746. Watts = Decimal 40214477 horsepower. Which is 4/10 of a horsepower.

Can't decide on this or the scroll saw. Wouldn't this saw also do scroll work? Not a big price difference.
Posée par: Joseph
If you are making children's puzzles or similar fine cutting where you will be rotating the wood a full 360 degrees whilst cutting out a curved figurine then you will need a scroll saw. If you are doing a sharp curve but not rotating the wood more than 90 degrees you can do this with a band saw. On occasions you will have to assist the Band Saw curved cut by doing what they call relief cuts before attempting the complete required curve cut. Visit utube there are some great videos showing how to do these cuts. Seeing these videos will also make you more confident as to your required machine purchase.

Does it come with a rip fence.

Posée par: Steaklover1
No, it does not come with a fence. But the POWERTEC Rip Fence model BS900RF available at Home Depot is a perfect fit.

Will this cut tree branches for coaster and other projects?
Posée par: Mkmilburn
Yes. I cut hard wood up to 2 1/2 thick. The thickness capacity for this saw is 3 5/8 thick. So that would be the limit for the biggest diameter you can cut.
