Rated 5 de 5 de par Have owned it approx 10 years now I bought this about 10 yrs ago to use on a very small city lawn. It works great, unless you let the lawn get really long..it can sometimes skimm over a few long stubborn weeds. It cuts the long grass, but works best if you dont let it get overgrown. Mine broke last summer; the metal roller brackets broke off...I tried to find the part, but it looks like I can only buy the whole roller assembly kit, from US, so with shipping is $58. I can buy a new mower the same for $198 Cdn. Still debating what to do. I bought a used Jobmate 12" mower second hand...brought it home, and after using it, I now realize how much better my 18" Scott's is! At least my tires weren't plastic, and the mower didn't catch on every rock or twig. I have not tried other brands, but I would for sure never buy one with plastic tires again. Scott's has good tires. I hang mine on the wall to store as well, so I like having the roller assembly rather than 2 sets of wheels. I did rip the foam on handle, but that was after a few years,m. I think I may have damaged the roller bracket when jumping it on and off the cement curb. I will either buy the part needed, or buy a new Scott's mower. I am very pleased with it. I will be more gentle with the new one/part.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great purchase Simple to assemble. Not too heavy. Easier to push than a lawnmower. Great cut. No noise or gas. Love it

Rated 1 de 5 de par Broken after second use Broken after second use. Metal on metal grinding between blades and the guard. Will need to try and return it or fix it.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Can't even tell I've mowed Bought this to replace the cheap Mart store one I've used for the last 9 years, figured I'd go up to one costing 3x the price, must be better right? WRONG. Used it 3x now, tried adjusting blades up and down (which is not at all easy to do, unlike the previous one which just used a lever) but still gets almost nothing done. I can see little bits of grass flying up so it's cutting, but mostly just flattening the lawn, so a few hours later looks the same as before. What a waste of money. I love hand mowing, find it very relaxing. But all this machine does is take me for a useless hour long stroll.

Rated 3 de 5 de par no catcher when purchased I bought this mower as a back up to my electric unit-died today! Wanted initially the catcher but was not part of the initial purchase-now you cannot buy a catcher to go on unit unless you buy another entire unit, why...have hunted all over Nanaimo trying to find one that will connect but nobody in town carries them...so when will HD offer them separately...

Rated 1 de 5 de par Great Mower - Broke within 2-months I loved this mower from the first day I assembled it (assembly was a little tricky). Using the mower was very easy, it did an excellent job cutting the grass and at first it seemed well built. After using the mower less than 10x times, the metal piece holding the handle broke off, making the mower unusable.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for the small yard Great for a smaller, tight yard. We use this nimble push mower in areas where our riding mower can't get to easily, and it works great.

Rated 5 de 5 de par very satisfied customer I was prepared to return this if I was not satisfied, but I love it! I have mowed my lawn 8 times so far and it is easy to push and cuts well. Some claim that these will not cut tall grass but I had no trouble cutting a few patches that were nearly one foot tall. Please note that this is a review of the Scotts mower purchased through Home Depot, a few years ago I purchased a reel mower at Menards and it was such a piece of junk that I donated it to Goodwill.

can the blades be sharpened? where? how?

Posée par: kate
From the owner's manual at http://earthwisetools.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/815-18S-Owners-Manual.pdf Sharpening the cutting blades When the mower is properly lubricated and adjusted, sharpening should not be necessary for several years. However, the following steps will allow you to do the procedure yourself at relatively little expense. • Remove the “E” rings, wheels and pinion from both sides of the mower (refer to figure 7). • Remove both pawls from the rectangular slots in reel shaft and reverse their positions (refer to figure 8). • Reverse the placement of the pinion gears. • Place the left pinion on the right end of the reel shaft and the right pinion on the left end of the reel shaft. Replace the wheels and “E” rings. • Spread a thin layer of lapping compound on the front edge of the reel blades. • Adjust the cutter bar so that the cutter bar blade has light but firm contact with the reel blades across the full width of the cutter bar (refer to figure 9). CAUTION: Do not overtighten the adjusting screws, as this could damage the cutter bar. Both screws must be tight on the final adjustment. • Push the mower backward on a smooth surface (such as a sidewalk or paved driveway). Continue to do this until the reel blades rotate relatively free and front edge of the cutter bar blade is polished. • Remove wheels; reverse pinions and pawls so that the beveled edge of the pawl is on the right. CAUTION: Clean any grinding compound or debris from the cutter bar blade, reel blades, pinions and pawls. Lubricate axle and pinion with a light film of wheelbearing grease and replace wheels and “E” rings. NOTE: It is recommended to use and industrial or valve lapping compound between 100-240 grit. This is usually available at an industrial or automotive supply store. If professional sharpening is required, consult your local yellow pages for lawn mower repair services.

What assembly is required?

What assembly is required ? Is it easy to separate the handles from the mower for storage?
Posée par: Anonyme
The mower head is completely assembled. The handle requires assembly before attaching to the mower head. The handle may be separated from the mower head without issue. It does take some pressure to remove it the first time. Thank you.

Is assembly required? I can't put anything togther.

Posée par: Frank
Yes, but only a little bit. You need to put on the handles and a guard, I think. It took me five minutes, tops.

where is the Scotts 14" mower, or any of the push mowers made?

Posée par: Anonyme
They are made in China. They used to be made in Indiana, but now it is China.

need a grass catcher for our Scotts Supreme 18", does this 20" grass catcher the right one, thank you Barb

Posée par: Barb
I do not believe the 20" catcher is the appropriate catcher for this mower. I suggest calling the American Lawn Mower Company at 1-800-633-1501 or emailing them at sales@reelin.com to see what parts are compatible with your particular model.
