They can be a bit tricky to operate depending on the grip you use. As a certified hand therapist I try to think about how I use tools and the wear and tear it places on my hands. Be kind to your thumbs! What I have found the be the best technique for me is to snap the tool on, then grip the tool between my index and middle fingers while pulling toward the fitting to pop it off, being careful to not pull so hard the whole thing flies across the room! Alternatively you can get the more expensive pliers version of the removal tool, not nearly as fun or cost-effective in my opinion.

Yesterday my friend and I wasted at least an hour trying to remove a fitting with this. Then as an experiment we connected a spare fitting to a length of Pex and out in the open tried again and again, using bare hands and even pushing against the clip with channel locks. At times using both of us, 4 hands. Finally we drove to Home Depot and bought the $8-and-change removal tongs which worked. 2 grown men with fairly strong hands trying again and again to use this little clip. Nearly impossible unless you get really lucky. My hands are still sore.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Absolutely worthless I was told to buy the disconnect clip because it will be the best $2 you will ever spend. The Sharkbite fitting I installed did not seat the full 3/4 of an inch and when I tried to remove it with the disconnect clip, nothing moved. After pulling the clip towards the fitting with my right hand and pulling on the copper pipe with my left hand for at least 10 minutes, I decided it was better to make a second cut on the copper pipe below the Sharkbit fitting versus inadvertently bending the copper. I ended up making another trip to HD, buying a second fitting and a longer hose. I have taken the fitting with copper in it to my workbench and still cannot disconnect the copper with the clip. My experience with Sharkbite is buy double.

There is no way to get enough hand strength to pull off a push on coupling. I have a straight water line going vertical, in a 2'x2' space under a sink with drain pipes in my way and have to get a grip on this tiny plastic thing, hold onto the pipe and pull up. Not possible, and I am small framed woman I could not even see a larger person trying to use this thing in tight spaces. Maybe this product would work, if the pipe was horizontal and you had some elbow room, you could get the coupling off.

Very difficult to use, hard to catch the ridge of a part, with its tiny body the clip is not easy to hold and apply a force to disconnect a part, especially in a limited working area; also it's broken easily.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great little tool This tool is a must have when installing any Sharkbite connections. I just installed two 3/4" connections. The first one went on just great, very quickly. With the second one, the connection went in halfway and stopped. I went down to my local hardware store and picked up this tool and very quickly removed the second connector and found a little bump on the underside of the pipe that prevented complete installation. I removed the bump and successfully reinstalled the connection all the way on. Without this little tool I would have been stuck with a failed installation.

Seriously hurts my hands trying to release these beasts. Makes you feel good that you know its going to be secure, but the removal tool need to go back to the drawing board.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Disconnect clip is a joke Have bought Sharkbite couplings before and installed them as directed. N Haven't had a need to remove any until today. Bought two today to replace a shutoff valve and couple a water supply line to a hot water heater. Because i=of another soldered joint leaking with all the pipe movement I had to uncouple the valve from the 3/4 inch copper pipe. I worked at it for over 30 minutes then enlisted my son in law (a licensed building contractor) who took another 7 minutes to finally remove it. The orange horseshow shaped tool is worthless! Next time I need such a repair I'll either make certain there can be NO removal needed in my lifetime or go Old School and solder the joint/valve. Wished I had spent the $8 for the tong removal tool.

How do you re move shark bite with copper pipe

Posée par: Scott
With great effort, much cursing, and luck, you might be able to remove a Sharkbite fitting from a copper pipe by using the Sharkbite disconnect clip. But it's not as easy as it looks in the demo videos.

where is the package of 3, 1/2", 3/4", 1" set

Posée par: Tony
There is currently no set of 3 disconnect clips. Most end users are using a specific pipe size and would only need one size.
