Rated 4 de 5 de par Simple But Good for Small Jobs [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros..Simple to use; Small enough to get into small spaces; rugged enough to survive in your toolbox; usable for 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch tubing. Cons...If used a lot, when the blade dulls you will have to get another cutter; for 1/2 inch PEX, slight movement in the jaws of the tool will result in a slightly less than square cut; With time (or really cold weather) the plastic may get brittle. Conclusion: For occasional use handy to have in the toolbox. The slightly "non-square" cut will not prevent proper sealing in push-on fittings (like Sharkbite).

Rated 2 de 5 de par Not great for 1/2" pex We were worried about getting square cuts on the pex using a hacksaw or utility knife, so we ran down to Home Depot and bought this cutting tool. I was wary after reading the mixed reviews about whether or not it cuts 1/2 pex well. I can now safely say it does not. We tried various methods of one of use holding both ends of the pex to make sure it was straight while in the cutter, but nothing worked. we ended up with far too many curly ends and had to use the utility knife to clean them up. Cutting them with a utility knife alone in the first place gave just as good results. I can see how it would work better for larger diameter pex, since the issue with the 1/2 is that the tool doesn't grip and hold the pipe in place, the tool is just slightly too large. Good luck everyone!

Rated 4 de 5 de par helpful tool [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a handy tool if you cut 1/2 inch PEX. Also available for 3/4 PEX. It is easy to use slide onto your PEX pipe and cut for a good solid clean cut. Much easier to use then snips or a utility knife - no jagged edges to fix. Works best if you can do a complete 360 degree revolution. I used it to add some the shut off valves to existing PEX lines so it took a while longer since I couldn't go 360 degrees without hitting the joists. Simply had to move it a couple of times but was still able to get a clean cut. Be careful, it is very sharp so go slow.

Rated 5 de 5 de par works great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got to try this cutter out on some 1/2" pex today it does a nice clean and straight cut just slide your pipe in and turn the cutter in the direction of the arrow that's on the handles and within a handful of turns your pipe is cut and ready to install. This is much better and faster than using a hacksaw and does a neater job makes life much easier.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Incredibly disappointing I bought this because it was branded Sharkbite. Unfortunately quality is poor, the cut is poor, edges are not straight. On top of which it is harder to use than a typical straight cutter, each cut takes longer as you have to rotate the tool. If you don't rotate it exactly right the cut is not straight. Regardless the edges are very poor quality. Am returning it and buying a normal unbranded straight PEX cutter. Recent reviews have all been negative, i wonder if something happened with recent production. I expect far better quality from a shark bite branded product.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Purpose Designed Cutting Tool [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While this is advertised to cut PEX pipe it also will cut other 1/2' to 1" types of piping. It is compact and has a razor sharp edge, which by the way is not changeable, At least for now it makes nice non-burring clean cuts. That is important when using push on fittings because if you try to use a razor knife and don't get a clean cut or a burr on a water line you may have a line blow out. In comparing this to say a pair of standard PVC cutters it does make a cleaner precise cut. This is design specific tool, use it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great throw away tool It is fairly easy to use and simple but is not s tool you will be carrying around for long term use. If you have maintenance staff that works with pex piping this is a great cheap tool for your crew

Rated 2 de 5 de par Doesn’t do square cuts Good blade and cutting capability but just will not do a square cut. You will end up with over 50% cuts with uneven angles in the cut though a very clean edge.

Does this tool cut through copper pipe?

Posée par: deone503
No, it struggles to cut PVC so I wouldn't even recommend it for that. It does cut PEX, vinyl, and rubber tubing pretty good.
