Rated 3 de 5 de par Spinning limits range of applications I bought an elbow, a female connector, and a male connector to replace a tub stubout that had disconnected at the solder joint in the wall. All went well with the SharkBite connectors until I tried to screw on the faucet. Because the copper tubing can spin there was no way to tighten the faucet. I now have to replace two of the connectors with others that do not spin. I am not looking forward to removing the sharkbit connectors--they are very difficult to remove even with the removal tool, and with their location in the wall it is very difficult to get the appropriate leverage on the tool. SharkBite needs to a better job warning people about applications. They tout the spinning as a feature, which it certainly can be in some applications--but in other applications it renders these connectors useless. On the positive side the connectors did not leak at all and I will use them in the future when I can.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Practical and it works Don't waste your money getting copper if you need a fitting to do the job right. I bought brass fittings made by Shark Bite and is simply the best. I learned the hard way. I just installed a water heater in my house and used copper fittings from another manufactures, Blue Hawk I believe. It was such a waste of money and mainly time. No matter what sealant I applied, it leaked. Such a frustrating experience. I ended up spending more more on those other fitting. That when I bought Shark Bite and installed their copper fittings and this particular one made out of brass. Guess what...not a single sign of moist. I recommend this fitting and brand. Don't use capper where it need to be tight. The threads will no hold.

I was adding a thermal expansion tank to my plumbing system (a prior pressure valve was failing and old school) and used a sweat-on connector, but couldn't get it to stop leaking no matter how much thread tape I used. I cut my copper pipe, screwed this SharkBite to my expansion tank, and then simply pressed it onto the 3/4" copper pipe -- boom, no leaks, and now future replacements of the thermal expansion tank will be easy removal, rather than working wrenches in a tight place. I've ALWAYS frowned on SharkBite connectors (I prefer traditional sweating or PEX-A), but this was a perfect solution, and considering it's in the basement, if it were to ever fail, at least it's near a floor drain.

Rated 5 de 5 de par fixed leak that other compression fitting didn't Got two of these to use on male hot water heater posts to go to 3/4 copper. Got another brand first, but they kept leaking at the threaded end. Talked to a friend said I needed to make sure the fitting was ntp for hot water heater. These are ntp and they worked great the first time. Used some Teflon paste and good to go.

This thing works great, I'm don't do this for leaving I was just trying to do a quick fix to save me some money and that worked out well for me. I got it in the first day and it's still there working fine almost a week later.

It's worth the money to me for the ease and reliability of joining pipes, especially PEX, CPVC, and copper. Just about idiot proof! Collected a plumber's nightmare snake's nest of water piping that built up over 30 years, PE, IP thread, copper, PEX. A special effect is that every joint is a union and can be opened and put back in service.

For the home handyman/women, SharkBite is probably one of the best inventions in the last 10 years as it comes to doing plumbing work. So easy to use and versatile. Only negative, price. 10 times the cost compared to a fitting that would be sweated in. But for ease of use it sometimes worth paying the extra price.

I see a few reviews saying that these failed after several years. Is there anyone who has used these and had them last for 4, 5, 6 or more years without failing/leaking?
Posée par: alienux
I have had mine installed for at least 3+ years with no issues. The SharkBite end is the same as all their other fittings. The threaded end is brass like many threaded fittings. Not much to fail.

Posée par: Kathy
Hi Kathy, Thank you for contacting SharkBite. The 3/4 in. Push-to-Connect x FIP Brass Adapter Fitting will not connect PVC to PEX pipe.
