[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] STRONG FASTENERS — The Tapcon 3/8 in. x 3 in. Hex-Washer-Head Large Diameter Concrete Anchors (2-Pack) are useful for attaching a variety of materials to a variety of masonry, especially concrete. The major challenge is drilling such a large diameter hole into concrete. Once that has been accomplished, inserting the anchor is straightforward. The special threads allow the anchor to tightly grip the hole. These anchors are great for securing 2 x 4 studs to concrete because one then does not need to drill as deep a hole.

I had a difficult construction of a bathroom, small (42"x36") pony wall, which already had water lines in the wall coming up from the concrete pad. It would have been very costly to jack-hammer the concrete, remove and replace the water lines (5 lines), in order to put in a new baseboard. I cut the existing baseboard in half, replaced the removed half with a new 2"x4" and drilled holes through the boards and into the concrete pad. I was able to screw down the baseboard so tightly with only two Tapcons that the short pony wall (36" high) was held tightly in place. I probably should have used a torque wrench, but screwed the Tapcons in as tightly as I had strength to do. Pretty impressed with the strength of these anchors.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using tapcons for various jobs for a few years now. The hardest part is drilling a good hole. Once you get past the first few turns they go in easy. I used smaller ones to put a threshold on my garage's mandoor, to anchor a workbench to the floor, and attach a pipe flange to a paving stone so I have a pole I can move around the yard. Package specifies 50 ft. lbs. of torque. If you have a good feel for that sort of thing, you won't need a torque wrench. Easiest way to anchor your stuff in concrete, stone, or brick. Have never seen them corrode. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, unlike most concrete anchors, you can easily remove them and patch the hole as plans and needs change over time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used tapcons for several and they have never fail me yet. I had built me a new work bench in my garage and I used these to fasten my work bench to the concrete floor with no problem. With the Hex head washer work out perfect against the bracket on the floor. The hardest part was drilling the hole for the tapcon once that is done the tapcon with the special threads it starts easy and tightens very good. With these two tapcons holden my work bench it want go no where.

A properly drilled hole and the screw not over tightened provides a secure bond. The only drawback is over tightening the anchor then you have a hole that is useless.
