Rated 5 de 5 de par Great for sound blocking as well. I used this on my basement floor (bedroom with en-suite) as well try out the sound blocking I put it along the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. The floor is warm and the sound blocking is wonderful! I have an office right above I can't tell what's going in that room (only faint sound of water running when someone takes a shower). I don't know about how warm it will keep the room as haven't gone through a winter yet.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Blocked out the furnace sound We have a VERY old and LOUD furnace and we succeeded in sound insulating a small bedroom in the basement on the other side of the furnace room. Wish I used it in my whole basement for sound insulation. We just fixed it behind the drywall on the studs with a staple gun and nails.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Very good underlayment for all types of flooring Very good underlayment. Installed it on my basement concrete floor for thermal purposes under electric heating system and tile. Haven't finished installing the tile yet so I can't tell if it really works. The only thing that I didn't like is that 1 of the rolls came a little bit defective, the width wasn't the same at some points varying almost 1/2". Nothing that I couldn't fix. Overall I do recommend it.

This material does not block any sound, totally not worth the extremely expensive price. I installed it in one bedroom under the drywall (No other insulation); and since it didn't block any sound, I had to remove the drywall, insulate with mineral wool and re-install the drywall. As a Moisture Barrier it works good, but Does this material blocks heat and cold? Maybe. I didn't test for that and that is the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one. Save yourself a few hundred bucks and a lot of frustration, don't buy this staff because once you cut it there is no money back as advertised!!!

We will have a smooth drywall basement ceiling, which will be attached via strapping that is screwed to the joists (IE. A pretty typical set-up). Should I put this between the strapping and joists, or between the drywall and strapping?

    Posée par: nrg1275
Best option is to go between the strapping and the joists - simply staple the product across the whole ceiling (every 3rd or 4th joist is fine ) so it is fairly tight and flat. Then screw your strapping straight through the Thermoquiet mat and then attach your drywall to the strapping . Good Luck, HC

We will insulate garage door. Should the silver side face out or in? Thank you!

    Posée par: Heidi
It will be the blue side that is visible when you install it.

Can this be wrapped around hvac ducts in basement? Or is there something more practical? We live in an older home and the vents/ducts will echo with sounds due to change in temp. Thanks in advance!

    Posée par: Couticus
This will work ,but can you access all sides of the ducts ? Also you would have to cut the roll down to 6 inch widths so you can actually warp the ducts with a spiral wrap. - If not and the ducts are square , I would recommend using the SilveRboard Acoustic kit sheets and cutting it to size in long strips and taping to the exterior of the ducts with Duct tape . Good Luck HC

Can this material be “glued” on the side of uninsulated garage to keep warm or cool? Thank you

    Posée par: Heidi
I used it as an underlayment for tiling. The thermal insulation would be a "radiant heat shield" which is provided by a thin layer of foil. There are other products that would provide much more insulation.

Is this product good for underneath engineered hardwood in theatre rooms?  Our goal is to dampen noise

    Posée par: Satkul
It certainly helps as far as dampening sound, but you'll probably still want to have some kind of an area rug on top of the floor to reduce reflection. Also, if you've got some relatively large floorstanding speakers (as I do), you may want to consider isolation pads for those to reduce vibration.

Will this product work as effective sound barrier for ground floor apartment over finished basement apartment. We are installing luxury vinyl flooring on the main floor over plywood subfloor.... but if this product works: we will install it under the lvf.

    Posée par: RJA7
Yes- this product will definitely work in your application. Best fixation method is to staple the TQ to the plywood subfloor about every 3 ft, so it is straight, flat and no wrinkles or folds . You can then either float or glue the LVF on top of the TQ . How thick is the LVF you plan to use - is it tile or plank ? We do not recommend using our product under vinyl that is less than 4mmm thick. Thank you and good luck. HC

Will this thermoquiet work under vinyl floor also?

    Posée par: Joyce2020
What type of vinyl floor. This is only good under vinyl plank that is at least 4mm thick. If you are using vinyl sheet it must be a double side glue down- glue the TQ first to the subfloor and then glue the vinyl sheet to the TQ. Good Luck HC

Can this product be used on exterior walls under vinyl siding?

    Posée par: barclo
Yes it could, however there are other products that would do a better job and even add R values
