Rated 4 de 5 de par Retro 21.6-inch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Sexy fridge! Would compliment most any kitchen (or perhaps the man cave!) Purchased this fridge mainly cause it was one of the v few (in its price range) that fit the narrow dimensions of my bachelor apt. It's aesthetic quality is not a that of a 5K refrigerator - but this isn't what I paid for it..so am quite happy all in all. V quiet appliance. Works great too! note: the freezer does NOT have auto-defrost: a minor sacrifice, as this contributes to its great ratings in energy efficiency..(the owners manual suggests a defrost only twice per year)..(a v simple process too!).

Rated 5 de 5 de par So STINKN CUTE! My boy thought I was CRAZY to replace modern fridge with this beauty!! My home built in 1910 and fridge is housed in back porch gave me more space and a SUPER unique look! Had it delivered and the two young men who brought it couldn’t have been more efficient (even took my other fridge out to an outbuilding for me). PERFECT for this Mom who has two grown BOYS and living the next chapter in life!!! LOOOVVVEEE IT!

Rated 1 de 5 de par We wanted to love this We love the look but it functions as well as the real vintage fridges. The whole back of the fridge is a block of ice. The freezer drawers are pretty flimsy and fall out easily. There is also ice build up in the freezer.

This is an awesome fridge for a small kitchen or a second fridge for extra storage. There are lots of companies selling "retro" products. The vast majority of these products are absolute junk. Don't waste your money. And then there are a few companies selling "retro" products for thousands of dollars. They aren't built well enough to justify their extremely high price tag, unless you just want to brag to friends and family that you can afford a product featured on a TV show. But then there is Unique. Their products are "retro", but they are very well made and affordable. We purchased their fridge to add some cold and freezer space for soft drinks and extra food storage during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Here's my experience so far: The fridge was shipped from Home Depot via Estes Express Lines. They did a great job getting the fridge delivered on time and with no damage. They couldn't go further than my driveway, but the package only weighs around 125 pounds. I used my hand truck to roll the box into the house with no problem. If that's not for you, then you might want to ask Home Depot about full service delivery as shown in their web site. Standard delivery will not bring the fridge into your house, unbox it, install it, and take away your old fridge if required. Standard delivery is a basic street to garage type of service. Some folks were talking about damage during shipping. I don't know how that could happen but I guess it does occasionally. It didn't happen to me because the Unique fridge is incredibly well packed. The fridge is enclosed in heavy-duty double-walled cardboard 1/4" thick on all sides. After that, all sides of the fridge are enclosed in 2 inches of polystyrene. The bottom is protected by a plastic pallet 2 inches thick. After you remove all of that, 4 sides (left, right, top, front) are covered in a film plastic scratch cover. All trays and shelves are similarly protected. When you unbox this fridge, expect to completely fill up a 95 gallon residential recycle can. Unique has done a world-class job of freight packaging. Mine was delivered without a scratch on it. The Unique fridge is extremely well constructed. Better than most other consumer products in this price range. The fridge/freezer interior frame is sheet steel, heavily insulated, and very rigid. Four exterior sides are covered in scratch/impact resistant plastic. The back is galvanized steel. The handles are chrome plated brass, not cheap plastic. Door seals are magnetic rubber, thick and resilient. Clear shelving components are thick impact resistant polycarbonate. Everything about this fridge displays quality construction throughout. There is a lot more storage space than you think you'll get in a fridge this size. I was especially surprised at the space available in the freezer. This is not a dorm fridge. It is everything a full size fridge is, minus the ice maker and defrost. Both of which don't work well on any fridge at any price. I bought a $5000 bottom freezer fridge and expected smooth sailing. But no. The ice maker either makes too much ice or not enough, and launches ice across the floor when I open the freezer door. Once a year I have to defrost the freezer because it gets clogged with ice at the back. I have to keep adjusting the freezer seals because they come off the rails and leak moisture. If I'm not careful, the freezer ends up looking like the frozen forest in a Christmas movie. That's what you get for $5K. Any effort that the Unique fridge costs me with defrosting is a bargain at just over $1K with tax and shipping. So don't fret over that. You can't buy your way out of that little maintenance task. Gold plated toilets have a plumbers helper right next to them. So... Yeah. Efficiency is excellent. I set the temperature at maximum after install. When the top section reached the temperature I wanted, I turned down the thermostat and both the top fridge and bottom freezer box hold there temperatures. The compressor runs almost silently maybe three or four times a day. I have to stand next to the fridge to hear it. I've been looking at the energy charts my utility provides on their web site and I can't tell that we've added any load to our monthly consumption. I'm sure we have, but it's negligible compared to our heat pump, ovens, and ludicrously expensive main fridge. I love the style of the Unique fridge and the solid old-school feel of it. As a second fridge it was worked extremely well. You will be equally impressed when you see it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Awesome Retro Fridge! We bought this Unique Retro Fridge for our Bar in the basement and it has not disappointed! The red is such a beautiful colour and immediately draws everyone's eyes. We have received so many compliments and comments from friends and family. The wine rack is a great add and the fridge is extremely quiet. Extremely happy with this purchase. Well worth the money!

Rated 5 de 5 de par We bought this fridge about two months ago. So far,... We bought this fridge about two months ago. So far, it's working great. It is beautiful and looks like a piece of art in our kitchen. The teal color is rich and lovely in our coastal condo. Based on reading the instructions and the reviews, here are my best tips: set it up with proper ventilation on all sides, indoors; don't push groceries all the way to any of the walls on the fridge shelves; don't stand there with the door open staring at the fridge contents (let's humidity in; don't put uncovered drinks or dishes in (releases humidity), don't put it on a 15A circuit with a cooking appliance that will use all the amps (common sense). It only needs 1.7 amp on the circuit, which is great. This fridge costs less than $3 per month in energy, whereas our OLD fridge used about $60 per month in electricity. We are saving around $700 per year with this fridge! We have seen a tiny bit of ice specs show up on the back wall, and that observing the rules above really almost prevent it. We plan to defrost twice a year anyway. I learned that this is preferable if you are trying to conserve energy and preserve the quality of your foods in the freezer. We are happy that this does NOT have auto-defrost because that feature costs more each month. Last, the shallower depth of this fridge has helped us to manage our food purchases, have way less waste, and be more focused both in shopping and cooking. We are a family of four, two adults and two teenagers, and this fridge is perfect. If you are into freezer cooking, then you can add a separate freezer somewhere on your property for massive quantities of frozen food. However, this is fridge/freezer is working well for us: We can keep all kinds of dairy, the yeast, the dressings, the jellies, filtered water, some leftovers, some fresh vegetables, etc. in the fridge. We are turning it over at a reasonable pace and replacing items once a week (all cooking at home due to pandemic). Don't be scared of this fridge, just follow the rules to a T, and enjoy your super low energy consumption! :)

What us the height and depth of the whole unit?

Posée par: Jones
I measure 21.5" wide from front edge left to front edge right. I measure 22.5" deep from back edge center to front door edge center. I measure 19.5" deep from back edge center to front edge center without the door. Check the installation manual for the manufacturers current back, top, and left/right clearance recommendations. Mine is set in a room corner with 3" clearance on the left and 2" clearance at the back. The top is open to the ceiling. I have no problems with cooling or compressor run time. Don't forget that the doors are not reversable. The doors are post hinged on the right but you will need a minimum 1" clearance on the right side if the door is flush with the fridge opening.

Are there models with the door hinging on the left (opposite of what is shown) vs. a right hinge?

Please make them available with opposite door hinging.. this way if people wish to purchase two, to stand side-by-side, since these are a bit smaller, they can and it won't look funny.

Is the freezer frost-free? If not, how often does it need to be manually defrosted, and is there a drain or channel for hooking up a hose or bucket to collect the water?
Posée par: Jaden
No, our Retro Fridges are not frost-free. How often you need to manually defrost will depend on a lot of different factors including ambient temperature, how often the door is opened, what the fridge is being used for, etc. There is a drain in the rear of the fridge, however it is not meant to hold large amounts of water. Soak up what you can with a rag and you can have some fall to the condensation pan where it will evaporate.
