Rated 4 de 5 de par User friendly product that really works! Excellent product that I'd buy again. Must work expeditiously after hardener added. Goes on easily, adheres well and drys fast. Must work expeditiously after hardener added. Sanding provides a smooth hard surface that took added screws securely the next day. Putting on in layers in thick spots (>1/4-3/8 thick) is important as overly thick areas can stay soft for extended period. The consistency of the material allows it to go onto vertical surfaces without sagging or running. Only issue for me was estimating 50:1 filler:hardener ratio. One application dried too quickly, while one was prolonged. Got better with experience with product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Useless garbage I followed the instructions and added the hardener in a more than 1 to 50 ratio and it was like a wet putty after 1 day. Then we were forced to wet sand everything off and dry the wood to do over again. The next day we added even more hardener, mixed everything longer than the instructions said to be absolutely certain that the hardener was completely mixed in, and applied the mix to the wood. We waited about 4 hours to give it plenty of time to harden but it was still wet. After that, we just let it sit overnight and most parts were hardened. We started to sand those spots and the filler was rolling off in small pieces so we stopped. This product literally held up our project for 2 days already. I hope I can save someone from wasting their time and energy on this useless garbage product.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Waste of money Hardner is in a small tube Instructions say to mix at 50/1.So I took about half of the paste and squeezed out some hardner, mixed everything for two minutes and started patching About three minutes later the stuff got unworkable. Figured that I used to much hardner Next I mixed rest of the products and they stayed workable for about five minutes I’m getting some different epoxy that mixes at a 50/50 ratio

Rated 1 de 5 de par Totally useless crumbly garbage I followed the directions for mixing and application. Within about 2 minutes the stuff was hard and crumbly, and the part I applied to my project was not filling properly. I took several passes at this trying to mix less at a time. Same results every time. I’ve been woodworking for over 35 years and this is just junk. I bought it because it was more expensive than the rest on the shelf and I thought that would translate into better results.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Unusable product Based upon previous poor ratings, I performed a test of the product before using on my job. As directed, I VERY accurately measured out 1/16 teaspoon of the catalyst and 3 teaspoons of the wood filler (the 1:50 ratio specified on the can label). A timer was started. The outdoor temperature was 57* F, the sky was very cloudy, and the test was performed in the shade away for the sun. The mixture was thoroughly mixed for two minutes. First, the wood filler is too thin and soft to fill a large vertical defect in lumber. I think it will slump and slowly fall out. It is not stiff enough to stay put in a significant hole - only a narrow crack. Second, at seven minutes the wood filler suddenly seized up w/in seconds and turned solid and chunky. The instructions note a 15 minute work time. This product was a total failure and unusable. Do not buy, IMO.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Fixed my rotten window frame My cellar window frame had a rotten area in the lower vertical corner. I removed the rotten area with an oscillating tool, leaving an area about 1.5 in. x 1.5 in. x .75 deep needing to fill. It had to be filled a little at a time being so deep. It took 5 layers or mixes to get it where I wanted it. My only complaint is the 50-1 mixing ratio. It is a guessing game but I found out it was better to mix on the conservative side. It will take longer to harden but gives more time for you to work it into the area or shape you need. I mixed a little at a time on a piece of cardboard and did not use the cover. This product worked good for me and accomplished what I was aiming for.

You can't use the plastic cup cover for a mixing container, since it has internal ribs. You can't tell when the white part B mixes with the light grey part A, since it disappears immediately. You DO NOT get 15 minutes working time..More like 3 I tried 3 times, usin g less and less of part B. Still about 3 minutes. Ambient temperature was about 70F, inside, in a basement. I ran out of part A before using all of B. You cannot tell the correct amount of part B to add (the instructions say use a ratio of 1:50. How do you measure that?) When I got near the bottom of the can, I discovered an oily part that had separated during storage. No instructions to mix well before use... Even so, when I mixed up the oily stuff with the resin for my last batch, it still hardened in about 3 or 4 minutes. Didn't have a clock on it, but it was fast.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Soul crusher! This product is total garbage in a can. This product completely ruined my day. As Someone Who is new to home repair, it has shaken my confidence to The core. I tried to mix according to the instructions, but it was impossible to get the right mixing ratio. I mixed in the lid as suggested on the can, but it says not to mix what can’t use in 15 mins. It dried in about a minute and a half and it was a total clumpy mess. This product is BAD!!!!!’

Can I sand this product (after it has dried up and hardened) on a rainy or lightly rainy day?

Posée par: semih
Hi Jeremy, once our Varathane Wood Filler has hardened, it will sand to a powder. If sanding when the surface is damp or wet, just sand and then wipe the surface with a damp rag to remove any sanding debris. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
