This is my worst experience with homedepot: I purchased the Vigoro Polyethylene Weed Barrier Landscape Fabric and a bunch of Fabric Pegs and spent almost 10 hours to install the fabric in my entire garden and cover it with rock and rubber mulch. I didn't expect it would work for 20 years as advertised, but I never thought that it couldn't hold up for even one month. The weeds are growing through the fabric with no resistance as if the fabric was not there. I was so frustrated and disappointed as now I have to re-do the whole thing again. In addition, it is not tear resistance at all. I wish I had never purchased this product.

You need two layers of this to get anything approaching satisfactory blockage of weeds. The regular landscape fabric also allows weeds to grow through with just one layer. I spoke to a pro landscaper and he said you should lay down two layers, and with the grain going in different directions. In the coming weeks I will be pushing aside 35 bags worth of mulch to the side, laying down a 2nd layer, and then putting back the mulch b/c this product does not do what it says on the label.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Don't Waste Your Money I have a planting bed that had become invaded by grass. I spent quite a bit of time pulling the grass out by hand, digging down & getting as much of the runner/root system as I could, then laid down the Vigaro Weed Block Diamond, overlapping layers in a large portion of the area and overlaying it with gorilla hair mulch. Within a week and half I saw new sprouts of the grass coming back up thru the barrier and now, a month or so later it is just as bad as it was before I did all the work. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Unhappy with Vigaro Landscape Fabric Weeds came up through the cloth in one month. I will have to redo my entire yard because of this product. Do Not Buy!!! Vigaro package says maintenance free 10 years. I didn't even get one season free of weeding. My landscape project needed 8 rolls of Vigaro Landscape fabric. The steel pins required to put this down cost extra. Once the fabric is down and 50 bags of mulch on top, who cares if the guarantee gives you money back on the fabric. The time and expense of the entire project is so much greater than that. I saw another brand at Sams club that is contractor grade, comes with the steel pins and costs less than half the price. I will give that a try next year.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Should be called weed enhancement I've never given a bad review of a product purchased at Home Depot. I made the purchase because I had ran out of my normal weed barrier in the middle of a flowerbed redo. The bed is 25'x6'. I used 3' width of the cloth times the length of the bed, securing it as suggested. Grass & weeds began appearing 3 weeks after installment only in this section. I pulled back the 4 inches of mulch to find grass & weeds growing through the cloth everywhere. Had to again redo the bed, wasting time, money, & sweat. I'm an avid gardener with 11 large flowerbeds. Would not purchase or recommend to anyone. Still love Home Depot!

Rated 2 de 5 de par Not that good I have used this before and pulled all the grass and weeds beforehand per the instructions. After placing the landscape fabric over the prepared pathway in my vegetable garden, I covered with a thick layer of mulched and whole oak leaves. It looked great and really neat the first year (2015). This spring, the leaves had decayed and I had all kinds of weeds and grasses popping up. through the fabric. I pulled them up constantly, as they were thick. Finally, I decided to place a thick layer of newspapers over the pathway; did not pull the weeds as they would get no light and be smothered once I put down the leaves. It has worked beautifully and have seen no weeds. The key is to always place newspapers before the fabric. Be sure to pin the fabric to the ground before adding a layer of leaves or mulch.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Does not stop weeds at all! I installed several rolls of this in a garden with a layer of mulch over the landscape fabric. The ground was properly prepared and packed before installation, and there was nothing growing there when I installed the fabric. Within a week, I had grass growing up throughout the entire garden. At first I figured some seed had just come in with the mulch and was growing on top of the fabric. But, when I brushed the mulch away from a few spots, I saw the grass was actually growing up right through the landscape fabric. Every time I pulled a blade of grass, it left a hole in the fabric. After only a week, the fabric has already started to resemble Swiss cheese. I have used the inexpensive Vigoro fabric in the past with no problems. In fact, I have similar mulch gardens and paths in other parts of the yard that were installed exactly like this one and have had no weed problems for over 2 years in those. But, this new diamond-pattern fabric is a tremendous waste of time and money. It's bad enough I spent my hard-earned money on 16 rolls of this garbage. But, the work to replace it is going to be ridiculous. Undoing the damage will require removing all of the mulch, removing all of the stepping stones, re-laying 16 rolls of fabric, re-setting all of the stepping stones again, and then spreading new mulch. Had I realized how dramatically the quality of the Vigoro fabric had declined over the past few years, I would have purchased a different product. Save your back and do it right the first time by buying something other than this product.

Could this be used under a deck to prevent grass/weed grow?

Posée par: ThisGuy
Yes, it should help a lot. The material is perforated so water will go through into the soil but seeds cannot get into the soil and germinate. You will get some seeds germinating on the surface of the weed barrier material but if the surface is fairly clean, you won't get many.

Is one layer enough, or do you really need 2?

Posée par: SHX33A0
No, you do not need 2 layers. If you feel you need stronger weed control we would suggest using our "Contractor" fabric.

Once you have put down the fabric, do you then cut holes in it for the plants you want to plant there?

Posée par: JMP
Yes, that is correct. Plant your seeds and then cut holes to leave spaces around the area where the plants will grow.

Can this be used under a raised garden bed on legs?

Posée par: MJ
That is exactly what our Master Gardener group does for the tables we build for our seniors and mobility challenged gardeners. Just flip the table upside down, staple the weed barrier onto the bottom of the table, then attach your hardware cloth. Make sure to use long, heavy-duty staples. We do prefer to use a heavier duty, professional style weed barrier simply because it is not something you want to change regularly.

Is this heavy duty enough to be used under decorative 3/4" stone
